A: Hi Brooks. Great question/concern. Bowers & Wilkins has conducted extensive environmental testing using UV light, salt spray and extreme temperatures to simulate years worth of accumulated exposure to the elements. I don't believe you'll have any issues and we stand behind our warranty.
Q: Can these be used indoors for surround sound and as atmos speakers?
A: These are intended for indoor and outdoor use, so you could use them as surround speakers in an Atmos system.
Q: Are they completely waterproof? Even if driving rain hits them frequently.
A: Yes, the are completely waterproof and can be left outside in the rain all of the time.
A: Hello. 12 or 10 gauge wire is recommended for speaker wire with a length of 30'-35' when used with the AM-1 speakers.
Q: What gauge of speaker wire is best for these speakers?
A: Depending on the run from the amp to the speaker, we recommend 16 gauge for shorter runs, and 14-12 for longer runs.
Q: Can these speakers be paint to match my home color?
A: No they are not paintable, we asked before purchase and it doesn't state on description that they can be painted like some other speakers. We purchased white for a light beige wallpaper, looks ok, I wish they were paintable.
A: You need an amp. They do not have bluetooth. They plug into the back of your amp with speaker wire. They are great sounding speakers.
Q: Could someone explain what "2-way" means?
A: 2-way means that there are separate drivers that cover all of the sounds that the speakers can reproduce. The AM-1 features a separate Tweeter for high frequencies and a MidBass driver for middle and lower frequencies. The benefit of this approach is that the drivers specialize in reproducing the range of sounds that they have been designed for rather than one driver trying to do everything. Additionally, there is a passive bass radiator that helps to fill out the bottom end for better bass.

Best outdoor speakers
I had bought A pair years ago for my old house. When I moved I just had to take them with me and replace with less expensive klipsh for the buyers. I tried them out for the few weeks before I moved and did not even come close to the quality of the b&w. I now installed these in my new home and bought another pair of the same so they all match and have equal sound distribution. I have 4 of these now hooked up to a Sonos amp and they sound amazing. FYI the Sonos amp is 250w total so these speakers are getting 62.5 watts each and are way louder then you would need. Unless you don’t like your neighbors. The speaker says 100 watts peak power . No way do you need that much power . I keep these speakers with the volume way lower then they can handle right now as it is. But they have plenty of room for more .

Best outdoor speakers bar none
Best outdoor speakers I've heard. Was shopping around to replace some older Boston Acoustics speakers for my patio. I made a short list and listened to as many as I could in stores. None came close to the B&W. Night and day difference over my previous speakers. The clarity and fullness of the sound is unrivaled by any other outdoor speaker I've heard. Bass is more than adequate, although bassheads have other options to look into with some significant tradeoffs

Outstanding
Best sounding outdoor speakers I’ve ever had. Love the design and the simplicity of the installation. Definitely my go to speaker system in the future.
