Just got the new MacBook Pro 14" from Best Buy - it's got the M3 Pro chip, 18-core GPU, 18GB RAM, and a 1TB SSD. It's in Space Black, looks super sleek. Honestly, it's fantastic for work and a beast for photo and video editing. Performance is lightning fast - multitasking is a breeze, and apps just fly. The graphics are killer, especially for editing; everything looks crisp and vibrant. Plus, with 1TB of storage, I've got tons of space for all my projects, and the SSD speed is a real time-saver. It's surprisingly portable for such a powerhouse, and the battery life is solid - gets me through a full day's work, no problem. The display is top-notch, really makes my photos and videos pop. And typing on this thing? Super comfy, and the trackpad is really responsive. In short, it's a bit of an investment, but totally worth it for the performance and features. Perfect for anyone in creative work or who just wants a really powerful laptop.

Never needed to retire any of my 4 MacBook Pros

This is my fourth MacBook Pro and I have used the heck out of all of them. In fact I still use all of them going back decades. They work fine, the only limitation is that the OS cannot be updated enough to be used with modern programs. In fact I have one I have kept in Snow Leopard to be able to use Final Cut Pro7 with the wonderful options it had. Solid machines all. Batteries wear out eventually, but the bones are great. This new one is by far the best - faster than a speeding bullet. I've been importing video files and I am amazed at how quickly they are transferred. I have not started crunching the compression of new videos yet, but I have no doubt that this machine will be faster than anything else. I had been wanting to move up to a new MBP for some time but I resented needing dongles for everything - finally we are back to a set of the most useful connecters built in. I find the fingerprint ID very useful. Safari is solid and glitch-free so far. More than anything, the battery life is making my life easier. I have not had it long, but everything I have experienced so far is beyond my expectations. I plan to work with this daily for a very long time.

After M1 Pro, a surprising upgrade

First, thanks to Best Buy for a great price match during the holidays! This is my first 14 inch MBP after using the 16 inch M1 Pro the last few years. LOVE the space black, but wasn't sure M3 Pro would be an "upgrade"--but THIS 1tb model with the "top" unbinned M3 Pro chip is. It has 1 more performance core and 4 more GPU cores than the base 512 gb M3 Pro. This model is a great value when it's on sale with the better performance and more storage. Compared to M1 Pro, websites and apps launch substantially faster and my logic pro projects run smoother with less clicks & pops. Not that M1 Pro was bad at all, but M3 Pro is just--better. Really needed a smaller form factor and appreciate the portability and power of this machine. Battery life is good, and low power mode can extend it without creating much lag. Downsides of course are the adjustment to a 14 inch screen. While I'm impressed with what the 14 inch screen can fit (better than a 13 inch Air), it's still a bit cramped after being used to the 16 inch (naturally). Overall, I would recommend this specific model when it's on sale. Don't pay the apple upgrade costs and be patient when you can snag this on sale -- it's the sweet spot for value/portability.

Using the MacBook Pro 14” with the M3 Pro chip feels like a major step up in power and efficiency. The 18-core GPU handles graphics-intensive tasks seamlessly, making demanding projects like video editing or digital illustration feel fluid and responsive. With 18GB of memory, heavy multitasking is a breeze—keeping multiple apps open is smooth and lag-free. The 1TB SSD is incredibly fast, speeding up everything from app launches to file transfers. Battery life holds up all day, even under intensive use, and heat management is superb. Fans only kick in occasionally, and even then, they’re quiet, keeping the laptop cool and comfortable. The new Space Black finish adds a sophisticated and modern touch.

You definitely have to cough up some money but this has been the best purchase I’ve ever made. The integration of the MacBook and my iPhone 14 is absolutely seamless. The information or pics I take on my phone is instantly transferred to my Mac and I am able to access my files from the Mac too and my productivity has sky rocketed from this seamless interface. ALSO, the battery life on this thing is absolutely insane, it’s SO good. If I fully charge it one, this thing can pull through for me for three-four days

Perfect laptop for coding. Handles multiple IDEs and Docker containers with zero lag. The M3 Pro chip compiles code incredibly fast, and the battery lasts all day even during intense development sessions. The 18GB RAM makes multitasking smooth when running servers and testing environments. Space Black looks clean in my workspace. Expensive but a solid investment for developers.

Aside from using the migration assistant from your windows PC( Do not do this but instead take your files manually if needed from your old PC ). I made a mistake and used the migration assistant and it messed up the macOS so bad that I had to factory reset the MacBook. After that this thing only gets bogged down if you are doing a ridiculous amount of file transfers and some applications you have to be mindful that they don’t start to bleed out your memory so you should keep activity monitor open as some websites while the user is using safari can cause this but no issue as long you keep a close eye on activity monitor as if you are doing video editing you can watch the CPU usage( if you are into that type of thing) cold boot to after login screen is around 5 seconds which is impressive. You can play games don’t try to download the other game store apps and install games as Rosetta 2 probably supports the CPU side of things but not the GPU side. Games work from the Apple Store but I temper expectations since the Apple silicon been around for less than 5 years and developers are still poking at it. The only time the fans kick on is when I am playing a game but I’m sure someone who does 3D modeling would not look at this configuration. Storage is 1TB which should be enough for most people but try to get an external storage solution. The Battery life is the best battery life I have ever experienced in a laptop, I have gotten two days for heavy use and 4 days for light use. Display is nice but refrain from using a screen protector as it would increase the reflection from a light source. Glad I didn’t get the 32GB of RAM version since the only fan spinning thing I do is play a game here or there. If you own a lot of legacy devices, I suggest a dock. Overall, if you require a powerful, portable and battery efficient laptop, this is a proper choice

I have owned Apple Mac hardware in the past, but I quit macOS after the PowerPC era. Just didn't see the point in buying a commodity PC. The touch strip that Apple introduced only solidified my desire to stay away from that... Well, things have changed. I had been using a Dell XPS 13 Plus for the last year or so, and it's been great, but I had some issues with it: * Small screen. My eyes are not getting any better... * No physical ESC key. Yeah, Dell decided to do a touch bar but without the cool programmability. * Keyboard left something to be desired. It turns out, gapless keys seem to lead to more fat-fingering. What I wanted was a 14" laptop with a great display, a great keyboard, and a row of physical function keys (including ESC). A modern processor architecture would be nice. This MacBook Pro won me over compared to the new Dell 14" and 16" XPS models. What I've been most impressed with, aside from the fantastic typing experience, is the speed. Stuff that I build and tested under Ubuntu Linux on the XPS 13 Plus just builds and runs so much faster on the MacBook Pro -- I ran one benchmark on some of my code and noticed that the Mac was over 10x faster on one test, and that was with the Mac on battery power. Speaking of, this thing is rated for 18 hours of battery life, but I can report that it may exceed this if you sleep the machine periodically. Definitely don't run connected to the charger all the time! Full disclosure: This is the un-binned M3 Pro model with 18 GB of RAM and no disabled cores. I would have liked to get 32+GB of RAM, but Best Buy didn't stock those, and the Apple tax is pretty high for those configurations.

This MacBook Pro is very fast on responses. It is very thin. It is a little on the heavy side. With 1TB it is easy to store all of your documents, photos and Apps. The battery is amazing. It can last all day and still have power level to spare. I have had 3 MacBooks over the years and this one is top of the list in all areas, The cooling fan is not even heard. So quiet.
