While this monitor is not a 4K resolution monitor, it is still visually stunning at 2K (2160x1440p at 16:9 aspect ratio) with its HDR capability and the excellent VA panel present here. The size is excellent and is going to become part of a dual monitor setup, paired with my older 24” 1440p panel, for increased productivity for work and school while enjoying gaming and occasional Twitch streaming. This 31.5” monitor is overclockable up from 165hz to 170hz refresh and has a quick response time of 1ms. In my use case, this monitor is perfect for 1440p gaming on my 3060 GPU-equipped desktop PC and provides an excellent first-person shooter experience. I have used this monitor with BattleBit Remastered, Hunt Showdown, Rocket League, Doom Eternal, and Witcher 3 and have enjoyed stunning visual fidelity and performance in all these experiences! One aspect of this monitor that should be noted is that it lacks HDMI 2.1 connectivity, but this is honestly fine for a 2K resolution monitor as you can still achieve 1440p@120Hz just fine. I specifically used this with the included Display Port cable in the setting of PC gaming on an ASUS ROG Gaming Desktop with an Intel Core i7-13700F, 16GB RAM, and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060, and this pairing is honestly a match made in heaven! Especially with current sales, you could have a full 1440p high refresh rate gaming setup with this 31.5-inch monitor, all from ASUS (if brand loyalty or preference is a factor for you), for less than $1600! That is incredible and was unheard of 5 years ago. I have noted a couple of things about this monitor that I want to share. First, the included stand is tiltable and directionally pivots, but there is no height adjustment. On my 28-inch-tall desk, this monitor feels ever so slightly low for my postural comfort, and I am not a tall guy in my office chair. So, if you are concerned with ergonomics and comfort over a long day of use, you may want to go ahead and consider a Vesa mounting arm for this monitor. Just make sure it is compatible with a large 31” monitor as many of the common ones on Amazon are limited to 27” size monitors. Another thing that I wanted to share is the 170hz overclockable refresh rate. That setting is found in the menu of the monitor itself if you want to select to turn it on. However, the monitor is 165hz at its baseline and for me, that is plenty fast for even my most frenetic FPS shooters like BattleBit Remastered and Doom Eternal. I found that when I chose to overclock the monitor, I noticed some flickering and tearing happening on the previously listed games, so I decided to turn off the panel refresh rate overclock and be content with 165hz. Since then, I have had no discernable flickering of the monitor. On the note of refresh rate etc. this monitor is AMD freesync compatible but is not yet supported for NVidia G-Sync. I look forward to the day when/if it finally is G-Sync supported because I have always been one who has noticed frame rate drops while gaming and G-sync on my other monitor has always smoothed things out. I hope these couple of details are helpful for you! The TUF series of products from Asus have always stood out to me as some of the best in the gaming business for dollar-to-performance ratio if you are not overly concerned with certain creature comforts like a height adjustable stand coming right out of the box. Thanks for reading and good luck with your purchase decision!

The ASUS TUF 31.5 inch LED monitor is probably one of the best monitors for gaming. It comes with a simple setup guide that requires a screwdriver. It comes with a stand that has the ability to change the angle of the monitor but doesn't have the ability to change the height of the monitor to be higher or lower so if you want that feature you'll have to buy another stand. The monitor comes with a display port cable but it also has a HDMI port so if you prefer HDMI you can use a HDMI cable instead. The monitor has a 2560x1440 resolution with a 165 Hz display but you can change it to a 170 Hz in the settings. Also to open the settings you use the buttons on the back or the thumbstick to navigate the settings where there are 6 menus: gaming, image, color, input selection, my favorite, and finally system setup. The gaming menu lets you change the Hz to 170 instead with the overclocking option, variable OD which is the motion blur level, and free sync premium which is great to use on graphical heavy games, game plus where you can enable timers, cross hairs and fps counters, and finally game visuals where you can change it to modes that are better suited for racing games fps games and any games genres you play. The image menu and color menu lets you change the brightness of the Monitor, contrast, and saturation vivid pixel that makes the pixel more vibrant. ASCR that changes the brightness depending on what is happening on the picture the color menu lets you choose the color that is more prominent like cool for blues and warm for reds. Input selection changes the input between the display port and HDMI. My favorites lets you create shortcuts to a setting you'll change constantly. System setup lets you change the language, sound, power indicator, Power settings OSD setup which lets you change the transparency position and timeout of the settings, where you navigate the menus, also the information of the monitor and all reset which resets all the settings to the standard. the monitor actually comes with speakers that although being a cool addition, aren't very the best they are definitely usable just that you'll probably would want to switch to headphones or better speakers instead The monitor is great to use as your main monitor for gaming especially the size which is neither too big or too small which is great for competitive gameplay that lets you easily see everything on the sides and great picture quality for more cinematic games and the high frame rate of 170 is great for games since it gives you a more smoother experience. The color is vibrant and bright with the proper settings. The price is well worth it for budget setups since the monitor is well priced at $330. The monitor is well worth the price since you can use it for PC setups and console setups like a PS5 desk setup or xbox setup or whatever console you play. There is great accessibility and customization settings. HDR is able to be used which looks great. The monitor is a must have for any budget setup and great for multiple monitors since it's pretty big which is great for desktops since it adds a great amount of space for your desktop and simply just great for gaming and visuals. It's the best priced with the amount of features and quality. The monitor is a must have if you need a bigger and faster monitor.

Best Bang for your Buck 32in Gaming Monitor

I recently had the pleasure of upgrading my gaming monitor to the ASUS TUF Gaming VG32AQAY1A 32-inch QHD 1440p gaming monitor, and I must say I do enjoy it. As a big gamer, I was looking for a display that would deliver great visuals, a fast refresh rate, and at a reasonable price. Coming from a 27-in display to the 32-in at the screen size is perfect for FPS games, and the QHD resolution of 2560 x 1440 provides crisp, detailed visuals that look way better than my old 1080p monitor. The colors are vibrant, and the contrast ratio is excellent, making dark scenes look rich and atmospheric. The HDR isn't the best in that it's only HDR 400 and when it’s on when you're just browsing the internet and apps on your desktop, colors can look a little off, so I recommend only turning it on when gaming. When you turn on the overclock mode to get 170 Hz refresh rate HDR is automatically turned off and you can not use it. One of the main selling points for me was the 165Hz refresh rate. It's a noticeable improvement coming from 60 Hz or 120 Hz monitors, and it really makes a difference in fast twitch based games like CS:Go, Apex and COD. The increased refresh rate results in smoother motion, reduced ghosting, and a more responsive gaming experience. Along with Adaptive Sync technology, I've experienced significantly fewer screen tears and stutters, which is crucial for gaming. The monitor's design is one of the weaker aspects of it, in that the plastic feels very cheap, along with the side buttons being loose and kind of rattle when using them to navigate the menus. The stand only allows you to tilt it forwards and backwards, but it comes with a vesa mount on the back, which is probably the best way to use this monitor by mounting it. The TUF Gaming branding is subtle and stylish, and doesn't come off as “Gamery” while also still looking professional. One more aspect that I appreciate is the monitor's connectivity options. It has a variety of ports, including DisplayPort 1.4 and 2x HDMI 2.0, though I wish it would have made the HDMI port 2.1, so I could get the full refresh rate out of my PS5 and Xbox. It also features two USB 3.0 ports, which are convenient for connecting peripherals or charging devices.

    A Solid Gaming Monitor

I’ve been fortunate enought to use a few of ASUS gaming monitors in the past, in fact my primary monitor is another TUF gaming monitor from a couple of years ago. That being said this one did not disappoint. Color accuracy, resolution, and latency are all things that are priority in a good gaming monitor. ASUS manages to tick all of those boxes to deliver a great viewing experience. No matter what game I tossed at it the image was always crisp and smooth. Some R6, CoD, Fortnite, Starfield, D4, and WoW, and all the while the games stayed looking amazing. The 2560x1440 and 170Hz refresh rate do a great job of making all 31.5” of screen real estate really immersive and allowing you to lose yourself in the game. The stand is sturdy, and I don’t worry about it tipping over. You get a DisplayPort, and 2 HDMI inputs to connect multiple devices. I will say the only thing I would have hoped for is the ability to adjust the height of the monitor on the stand. It’s not a super common feature, but something I wished it had. You do get to adjust tilt, up and down to get the best viewing angle. This would make a great addition to any gaming setup. You get a great 1ms response time, a 170Hz refresh rate, great resolution, and the bezels are on the sides and top are very slim. With the holidays creeping up, this is a monitor I could easily recommend.

Great monitor, bought it because I got a 3080 and need something higher resolution than my current monitor. Haven’t had any screen tearing issues and HDR looks fantastic. At 170hz I haven’t had any frame rate issues and the monitor is perfect for me.

Let me start off by saying I need to buy a bigger desk. I love my current 2 - 24 inch monitor setup, but I love this ASUS 31.5" TUF more. Size does matter. There were times where a screen this size would have been considered a large screen TV. But performance also matters. This gaming monitor stands out in both aspects. With the 170hz refresh rate and a 1 ms response rate this monitor is smooth and fast. The 2560 x 1440 (2k) resolution is also more than sufficient to provide you with an amazing gaming experience. On top of the eye opening performance specs, the versatility of this monitor also stands out. With a DisplayPort and 2 HDMI ports, this monitor can be used for more than gaming. I could see this monitor being a very valuable asset for a dorm is it could double as a television. Some gaming monitors do not come with speakers. Other gaming monitors come with less than adequate speakers. This monitor, however, was a pleasant surprise. The audio produced from this monitor it no replacement for a dedicated audio system. However if you only had a big enough of a budget to spend on a monitor, you could definitely get by for a while with the speakers included. Like most things, this monitor is not perfect. Out of the box the color was off. Not just "hmm...something looks a little off". The color was really terrible. I had to spend a solid 20 minutes adjusting the hues and cues to get colors I was used to. Also, this monitor is equipped with physical buttons on the back right side of the monitor. This is great. I am all for physical buttons as it makes life easier. However, any time I attempt to adjust the angle of this monitor, the buttons are exactly where I place my fingers to move the monitor. Ultimately one I get this monitor in its forever home, I really wont need to adjust it so that should be a non-issue. And if I only need to invest 20 or so minutes into getting the settings to where I like, that is a small price to pay for a monitor of this caliber. Overall, this is a great gaming monitor with the sized and specs. Although there is a bit of a hefty price tag attached, it is an investment that is well worth the money. If you want to up your game, up your monitor with this ASUS TUF LED monitor.

The Asus TUF 31.5" gaming monitor is a very nice monitor with lots of gaming features and great performance, although it is missing some adjustability features. This monitor is 31.5" and has a resolution of 2560x1440 (1440p). It has up to 170hz refresh rate, 1ms response time, and features HDR. It has 2 HDMI ports, 1 Display port, a headphone jack, and built-in speakers. All around it has good connectivity and great features you would expect from a gaming monitor. I would mention that the 170hz is only possible on the DisplayPort input. You are limited to 144hz on HDMI. Performance of this monitor is nothing short of fantastic. It looks absolutely stunning, and is buttery smooth when playing at the highest refresh rates. There is virtually no motion blur, and the 1ms response time means basically zero lag. You really can't go wrong when it comes to performance with this monitor. The one area I think needs some improvement is the included stand. It only features tilt. There is no height, swivel, or pivot adjustments. I have used a few Asus monitors in the past and they all included these adjustments. I really miss these adjustments and don't understand why they weren't included. Aside from this oversight, this is still a great monitor. I would easily recommend to anyone looking for a good monitor. Just maybe mount to your own stand if you need more adjustability options than a simple tilt.

The Asus TUF 31.5 monitor features a 144hz 1440p panel with FreeSync Premium. The 1440p resolution on a 31.5-inch screen size delivers crisp visuals, but there is a notable caveat. While the colors are vibrant, they can appear oversaturated, which might not suit the preferences of users who prioritize color accuracy. This oversaturation can be somewhat mitigated by using the cinema or natural setting while also turning down the saturation, but it does affect color accuracy. On the note of minor drawbacks, this monitor has a slight ghosting issue. While the 144Hz refresh rate does an excellent job at reducing motion blur, some users might still notice slight ghosting during fast-paced gaming sequences or rapid cursor movements. This is helped by choosing the Overdrive 5 option in the menu, but ghosting is still present. I only ever noticed this while specifically testing for ghosting; it was not noticeable during gaming. It's not a deal-breaker for most users, but it's worth mentioning. The stand only offers tilt adjustment, but I found the height about perfect for my needs. It is also pretty sturdy and attaches easily to the monitor. Considering the features it offers, the price point of this monitor is reasonable. It offers a great balance between performance and affordability, making it a solid choice for gamers on a budget seeking a large monitor.

The product promises what it is, a 4k screen with 170Hz for PC usage. Mostly pros with this monitor and one con so far so here we go. Pros: *32 inch monitor (31.5 Visible). *Monitor with 4K 160HZ resolution for PC and 4K 120HZ for Consoles. *Comes with DisplayPort 1.4, HDMI 2.1 and USB cable cables. *An easier to use ASUS menu with more options. *Larger buttons and joystick than other monitors. Cons: *The audio system is inferior to other monitors of the brand. *It has much less space for cooling the screen, so it heats up much more. *The HDR is slightly lower compared to some 4k monitors. So far the monitor seems quite nice in color, smoothness, and image at 144fps, but when I toggled the "Overclock" setting as I would in any other monitor, it instantly killed the image and flashed white bars over the entire screen. I had to memorize the button presses via the manual in order to deactivate Overclock which then returned the image, dodging my "white screen of death" scare. Other than this one issue the monitor is a great value and I do recommend.

My entire family has been enjoying the Asus 31.5 inch LED wqhd freesync gaming monitor. We've been using it for gaming, mostly with an Xbox series X and a PS5. The colors seem to match our high-end TVs, and the gameplay is incredibly smooth. The smooth gameplay can be attributed to the 170 Hz refresh rate, as well as the 1440p resolution. While this isn't quite 4k, this also isn't a huge tv, so I don't believe that your average person, and possibly no one, could tell the difference between 4K and 1440p. In fact, with the size of the monitor, I think most people would be fine at 1080p. The internal speakers in the monitor are as expected for monitor speakers, for anyone who is doing heavy gaming, it is recommended that you get some sort of external speaker setup, or primarily play with headphones and a mic. The only change I wish this monitor had, is the number of inputs. It has one HDMI input and one DisplayPort input. I would have liked two of each, as these many people dedicated to gaming have more than one device they need to output.

    31.5" + 165 Hz + HDR + 1440p = Gaming Bliss

After years of a “bigger is better” mentality, I’ve come to the conclusion that below 42", 1440p is the ideal resolution. I did a side-by-side comparison with this ASUS - TUF 31.5" at 165 Hz and a 48" 4K 120 Hz display, and to my eyes the difference in image detail is negligible. The 1440p resolution pairs beautifully with an RTX 3060 and delivers buttery smooth gameplay. On Baldur’s Gate 3, going from 4K to 1440p yielded about a 70% gain in frame rate. That’s huge! I saw similar increases on multiple titles. I realize it’s to be expected, but experiencing it firsthand really drove it home. Gaming performance is stellar, and this monitor is very pleasing to the eye. The 165 Hz refresh rate coupled with the 1 ms pixel response means zero motion blur. I enjoy the occasional FPS (COD), and the ASUS - TUF 31.5" effortlessly brings it all to life. Targets are easy to pick out and dispatch. Slower-paced titles (think Starfield or Baldur’s Gate 3) are a pleasure to explore on this HDR monitor with vibrant colors that really pop and superior contrast; things hiding in dark areas are easily discernible, and bright areas retain detail and clarity. Connectivity is adequate with 1 DisplayPort 1.2 and 2 HDMI 2.0 connectors (no HDMI 2.1/4K/120 Hz here). There is also a headphone jack. Cable management is accomplished via a passthrough in the stand. The monitor ships with a DisplayPort cable. Display height is fixed, but the display can be tilted through a broad range to meet your eyes. This adjustability is important because viewing angle is about the only place this monitor leaves anything to be desired. Off-angle viewing results in washed out colors and loss of contrast – typical of VA panels. If you game with someone looking over your shoulder, they’ll likely be underwhelmed. Image settings are easily accessed from buttons and a joystick up the lower right rear of the monitor, but it honestly looked great out of the box, and I only felt the need to play with black levels. I should mention that the ASUS - TUF 31.5" also excels at entertainment and productivity tasks. I confidently recommend the ASUS - TUF 31.5". It doesn’t disappoint.
