Great on Paper, Faulty in Execution

I want to like these. They sound pretty good (not QC Ultra or Airpods Pro good, but better than anything from Anker at least), the ANC is close-to-Ultra great, and they're so comfortable that I can sleep on them all night. However, I have several problems with connectivity and battery life. The buds would disconnect completely after about an hour of use. They simply go dead and you have to long-press them to turn them back on. Also, the battery life doesn't last as long as advertised. After one of those post-hour disconnections, I checked the charge level on the buds, and they were down to 70%. This is with volume at 10%, ANC on, flat EQ, baseline settings. Maybe I got a faulty unit. I want to like these buds, but they need to work out the bugs.

Let me preface this by saying I am an audiophile and love music. These are the best Bluetooth earbuds I've heard for under 300$. The noise cancelling is on par with other earbuds around this price. What separates these from the others is the true sound they have. It's not muddy. At all volumes its a pure sound. Would recommend to anyone. The only knock on the star is the fact that the case feels on the cheaper side compared to others at this price point. That is a fair trade off for the quality in sound. Battery life is great. Comfort is next level. If you feel they hurt at first, just stick with it a couple days and you will get used to them. They have an extra rubber that really helps hold them in and keep the sounds on point.

I try almost all the earphones available The bests: B&W Pi8 Sennheiser Momentum 4 Bose quietcomfort ultra Sony XM5 Then: Galaxy buds 3 pro Nothing ear 2 Pixel buds pro 2 AirPods Pro 2 Jabra elite 10 OnePlus buds 3 and now this ones The great: comfort, battery life, and price The good: sound quality (but with a calibration), ANC, and connectivity. The bad: calibrate the sound to get the most of them and silicones are low quality Overall: I recommend this earphone to any regular user. For an audiophile: mid sound quality is not great even after the calibration. Regular users: you will not notice the difference unless you stream over 1021kb/s. Spotify, youtube music, apple music (unless use lossless format), pandora, amazon music, and iheartradio stream lower quality audio, so it not noticeable. You have to stream or play on lossless, FLAC, aptX Master, CD-quality or better quality to notice a difference.

The headphones themselves are great! And id say the fixed all my major issues with the ultras like the call quality volume which was always too low. My voice detect kept turning on and off but it was ok. Its more comfortable than the ultras. The case though... Its huge and doesnt sit comfortably in the pocket. It feels like theres a ton of negative space in it and because if its size i feel like if i fall or bump into something hard im going to smash it easily in my pocket.

Worse quality than previous QC earbuds

I have been a dedicated Bose user for at least 5 years, since the days of the wired earbuds that got me hooked. These earbuds make me feel like Bose’s days at the top of the market are gone. They’ve struggled with QA/QC with the last few products, with a lot of connectivity issues, but these are the first ones that clearly have gone downhill. To be fair, I will start with the positives: I appreciate they lengthened the battery life again as I had been hoping for that for a while. I will also grant them that this version is more comfortable than the old earbud tips that you had to break in. Unfortunately, that’s where it ends for me, but I understand I am more sensitive to sound than many for reasons beyond my control. 1) the plastic is so so cheap. Even the case was immediately lower quality with no latch or bluetooth button. The earbud plastic is similarly poor. 2) speaking of connectivity, that was also a failure. They made a new app that was unable to pair with my earbuds. It is supposed to be automatic (the diagram shows a light showing that never turns on). Their troubleshooting just tells you how it’s supposed to work but not what to do if it doesn’t (tip, if you have an iPhone, just connect in settings. That was the fastest way). 3) there’s an annoying feature now that plays the most annoying sound when you touch the earbud. Maybe this is an accessibility feature but you can’t turn it off, even if you switch all touch controls to none. It still makes a sound like a ping pong ball. I get these earbuds to cut down on obnoxious so I don’t understand why someone would make this a mandatory feature. It’s probably a deal breaker. 4) the ANC sounds worse to me too. I feel like there’s a artificial background noise I have heard when I used to get lesser brand noise canceling headphones. The reason I keep buying Bose is for their ANc quality alone so why would I stick to their brand now? 5) they got rid of the option to turn off in ear detection. It’s also broken. So if I take one out, ANC turns off and on in succession. It also does this if you have earbud inserts that it decides don’t fit well enough. I actually thought the size I had in was best for noise canceling but ANC still kept going on and off randomly (not an issue I have ever had before). 6) instead of taking feedback to improve their product, they seem to prefer to put their head in the sand. If I rate their app poorly (in app, prompted) and say I want to give feedback, nothing happens (if you give it a thumbs up of course it asks you to review the app in the App Store). Similarly, there’s no way to provide a review on the Bose site anymore, so I question the validity of the positive reviews on there. Overall, if you just need earbuds that work well enough for an office setting and you need something better than other products with minimal noise canceling, maybe these will be fine. But if you’re really in need of high quality noise canceling for your sanity, accessibility, and peace of mind you might be very disappointed. Maybe they will fix some of these issues but I am not sure it’s worth waiting to find out.

I'm happy to hear you're a long-time Bose fan! It's also good to hear you were pleased with the longer battery life and comfort of your QuietComfort Earbuds. Bose takes care to create products with a high-quality build, and we encourage our customers to experiment with the different eartips and stability bands, in order to find the best fit.

I'm sorry to hear you couldn't pair your earbuds with the Bose QCE app! That shouldn't occur, so try rebooting your earbuds. Just touch and hold each earbud for 15 seconds until you hear a tone; the earbuds will then power off, and you can hold each bud for 1 second to power them back on. This may help to resolve the ANC issue you mentioned in connection with in-ear detection as well.

As for noise cancellation, any earbuds with active noise-cancelling technologies will produce a "noise floor". However, this should remain faint, and it shouldn't be audible at all when you listen to your audio content.

Lastly, if you're not currently able to leave feedback in the app or via the website, please get in touch with our customer support team, so we can take a look at that: https://support.bose.com/s/get-help-landing-page?language=en_US.

      Warm regards
