Customers are saying

Customers are delighted by the AVR-X3800H's excellent sound quality, ease of use, and powerful performance. Many appreciate its straightforward setup and the wide array of features. While some users noted that the receiver can get warm during operation, the positive feedback on sound and functionality outweighs this concern. The HEOS functionality and compatibility with various audio/video formats are also frequently praised.

This receiver is an excellent AVR in every way. It takes a few days to play with all the settings but once you get it set up, wow, what an upgrade. Enough power to drive our Wharfedale Linton Heritage speakers. Highly recommend. We love it!

I bought the Denon brand new a month ago. I haven’t been able to use it. It hasn’t worked since geek squad installed the tv and receiver or remote . I’ve been getting excuses and delays from geek squad about my products. I paid cash for my products . I was billed for everything no discounts at all. My total tech membership elite does nothing for me. I was charged for my installation that wasn’t done correctly more than once I have to wait another month before I can use my products. It’s time to get rid of my total tech the benefits only cater to customers that need to use Best Buy credit cards. There’s more than one way to pay for products. I get no points and have to pay for everything seems like Best Buy has no loyalty to its customers based on how they pay. They have lost my loyalty as well.

The Denon AVR-X3800H 9.4 Channel 8K A/V Receiver is an excellent piece of audio equipment. The avr-x3800h drives my Emotiva XT2 towers, XC2 center and my 6 height/surround speakers without issue. Additionally, the 4 subwoofer outs provide plenty of low frequency effects as needed.

It works good but the graphical user in interface can be glitching and the arc port to the projector will sometimes turn the projector off for no reason the receiver is very dead and won’t fit all the way in my tv stand so keep that in mind

Hello, and thank you for your purchase. Regarding the power and video signals, cutting out the back of the cabinet to create some room or placing the receiver on top of the cabinet may be necessary. If the receiver is pushed back too tight, it could be causing wiring issues, resulting in miscommunication between the receiver and your projector. If further assistance is needed, please get in touch with our support team. Denon Product Support: 800-497-8921 Mon - Fri: 9 AM - 9 PM EST Sat: 10 AM - 7 PM EST denon

I chose this AVR as an upgrade to my Denon AVR-970 so I could run it as a 9.2 system. The set up is easy and the interface for their room correction software is much improved. The HEOS app and interface have also been revised and makes it so much easier to have multi room speakers. Haven’t tried to the second zone as it would require an additional amp to run given my configuration. Overall easy set up and sounds “cleaner” than the last Denons I have had in the past.

    Awesome unit with some bugs

The unit seems to have an issue properly displaying 4k120 over the zone2 output which is slightly inconvenient for me. Could be a bigger problem for others. Also have had issues with Bluetooth audio dropping out constantly but picks back up instantly when I press the source button?? It's the weirdest glitch. Otherwise this unit is awesome and impressive and worth it if you can snag it with 2 year financing for 1200 bucks like I did. This seems to be the most value for a unit that supports 11 channel 7.4.4 processing to take advantage of the widest available home audio.

Hello. Thank you for your feedback. It is much appreciated. To address your concerns - the AVR-X3800H's Zone 2 HDMI output is limited to 4K (as shown in the labeling of this port). To achieve a 4K/120Hz feed, an 8K port is required, which is where the Main Zone HDMI output ports come into play (Monitor One and Monitor Two).
With Bluetooth, there can be a number of reasons for reception glitches: Interference from other electronic/digital circuitries and various wireless feeds in that vacinity can be problematic for the Bluetooth receiver and/or transmitter, as well as distance from the original Bluetooth source.
Optional aftermarket Bluetooth receivers/transmitters can be added to any AVR using a digital or an analog connection. Not being immediately surrounded by digital processing circuitry or a large transformer found within an AVR can help with improving Bluetooth reception for an external unit. denon

First off, thanks to my expert installation technician, Michael; he installed and setup my Denon AVR X3800h as well as Denon CD player 600 NE. Previous receiver and matching CD player component was on all day with little warmth. I’m impressed with the build quality for high end receivers. I took one star off from the increased heat from two hours of operation of this unit. Also, for the price point, Denon must make a backlit remote for all of its Denon AVR x3800h products. Overall, I’m immensely happy with my purchase of Denon products.

I really loved the receiver with my epson 5040 and other components like computer, 4K player, ps5 and others everything works great and even setup the 4 height speakers still new to add the middle for the voice of god as they call it. Now not so good with my Sony 295 4k for some reason I cannot video to work I get sound but no picture. If I just hook projector and ps5 works with video but no sound. Really stress about this it’s either a setting or maybe needs an update.

Wonderful amplifier, has all the modern bells and whistles. 4k 120hz and 8k ready. 11.2 compatible and used old pioneer reciever as external amp to drive front towers. Purchased a vacuum switch to turn old reciever off and on with new reciever.

It is a Denon. It sounds like a Denon and has the flaws that all Denons does. The setup is easy and flawless with this new GUI. The only concern i have is related to the video output. When switching from my Tv to the projector, in almost all the cases, the image blinks 02 or 03 times, like trying to get a handshake from my projector or tv. This seems to be common on Denon projectors.

I think this is a really good one but the only reason I marked it for 3 stars as initially it didn’t work and t3ch support had to come out twice to resolve the problem. I think it was an I install issue but everything is working now. It is a little pricey though.
