This is an excellent projector! Love the laser tech over the traditional bulb, 20,000 hours and puts out way less heat so you can't even hear the fan noise. It's great for my bedroom in my apartment even projecting onto the wall. I have it a little over 8 feet away from the wall and it projects at around 105 inches! The internal speakers aren't bad, but it also works perfectly with the Roku streambar even if you choose to just use the built in Google TV. It has HDMIArc which is awesome. Obviously the picture washes out quite a bit with ambient light, but if you only have one lamp on it still looks good. Looks even better with the lights off. Great purchase though, I'm lovin it....and I don't really have to worry about buying a new bulb anytime soon either!

Great Space-Saving Projector with Impressive Featu

Initially, I wanted a TV but then realized that a projector could do the same job without taking up enormous space in my home. So far, my decision has perfectly aligned with my expectations. It has Google TV built in, which might be a bit laggy at first, but it gets better over time. It also features auto keystone correction and autofocus, which are perfect for lazy people like me who move the projector around the house. One downside of these post-processing features is the noticeable input lag. As a result, it's not the ideal machine for gaming. I've read online that the input lag is around 61-62 ms. If you're considering gaming, you might want to look for something else. Other than this issue, it's a perfect little machine packed with lots of features.

First projector and I love it more than I expected. The picture is viewable well over 100 inches in good quality with even some ambient light in the room. The audio is also just fine to fully enjoy movies, sports or your favorite shows.

    EF12 vs. EF21

This is a review for people wishing to compare it to the EF12. I decided to see if this was enough of a refinement over my EF12 to be worth the cost of selling that and upgrading. By and large, for some folks, yes. A few major points: -Despite the same 1000 lumen rating and the same laser light source, improvements to the light engine and image calibration means the image is brighter across the board - notably so. Peak white is slightly higher and color brightness is higher. -Contrast is significantly improved, with a far more nuanced and detailed look in busy images. -Optics are better, presenting a slightly crisper image, which is a double edged sword when still limited to 1080p. -HDR mode looks good, hitting a higher peak brightness over SDR and offering better contrast and highlights. I can't say it's particularly good HDR, because it isn't, but like the EF12 the EF21 seems to provide a punchier and more nuanced image in HDR mode. Windows Auto HDR makes games look great here. -The image settings are far, far better calibrated. Cinema is brighter than the Bright Cinema setting of the EF12 while also maintaining better contrast and not crushing colors like the EF12 did. Vivid mode is still compromised, but far less so, and is punchy and bright enough to even handle quite a bit of overhead lighting while keeping a decent image. -Input latency is dramatically improved over the EF12, though still not top of the pack in this category. Using high FPS capture on my phone I got about half the input latency on the EF21, which should put this around 60-70ms. So still not a good choice for competitive fast paced games but fine for everything else, unlike the EF12 which was suitable only for more casual games. -Fans are quieter, at 100% brightness the EF21 is about 20% quieter than the EF12, and the noise is less high pitched and whiny. The EF12 was already impressively quiet for its small size and brightness balance, but the improvement here is still welcome as these projectors are ideal for bedrooms. -Newer version of Google TV has some nice QOL changes and improvements. -Built in projector mount, unlike the EF12 which required a fiddly proprietary adapter plate which was hard to find. Some cons: -The projector is still decent looking in white, but unfortunately the EF21 is not available in the more fetching colors of the EF22 which has no benefit other than a clunky built in swivel mount. -Only 1 HDMI port compared to the EF12 which had two. An odd downgrade really, not sure why they did this. -The remote feels cheaper and chintzier than the EF12's remote. And finally as for sound, it sucks. The sound on the EF12 sucked too, despite all the claims by Epson otherwise. Get some proper speakers for audio. I'd say for people with an EF12 who are willing to spend a few hundred total to upgrade, between selling the EF12 and tallying the difference, it's worth it. And for people coming in fresh wondering if the EF21 is worth the few hundred extra over what the EF12 is going for on clearance, then also yes - this fully and effectively replaces the EF12 by improving almost everything.

    Decent Projector with Glaring Issues

-Good picture. -Decent brightness. -Software/Operating system is a bit finicky. It projects upward and not straight. Didn't experience any game-breaking lag when used with the Nintendo Switch. Requires at least 6ft to get about a 100ft projection and has to be directly aligned and not offset (it gets in the way a lot). Would probably be best used mounted to a ceiling, but that defeats the purpose of it being portable. I wouldn't recommend this device for the price (even on sale at $600); however, all the competition in the price bracket will have similar problems. Mini projectors are like VR headsets in the sense that they, "Just aren't quite there yet."

I recently had the opportunity to test out the new Epson EpiqVision Mini Portable Smart Laser Projector and I have to say this thing is quite impressive. There is a lot of power and features packed into a compact size for your visual and audio entertainment. So, let’s go over what the new Epson EpiqVision Mini has to offer. Specifications: Height: 4.4 inches Width: 7.7 inches Depth: 7.5 inches Weight: 5.3 pounds As you can see from the product specifications this is not a big projector at all, making it perfect to take with you anywhere you want. It also delivers vivid and vibrant 1080p HDR visual with 1,000 lumens of brightness that are easy to see even in a well-lit room. Setup: The setup process is a breeze. It literally took me less than 10 minutes from the box to watching my favorite show on the built-in Google TV app, that also offers apps like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney + and so much more. Simply plug it in and setup everything from your phone, even the WIFI connection and start watching your shows anywhere within minutes. You also have the option to set up everything without the phone, but that process takes a bit longer because everything must be done via the remote control. Also, I love the auto focus and keystone correction on this project because you can place it anywhere and it will automatically adjust the screen, so you don’t have to. Features: Laser Light Source: The EpiqVision Mini features a 20,000-hour laser light source that is virtually maintenance free. The laser light source also ensures a consistent brightness and accurate color accuracy, producing a sharp full HD picture with HDR colors night or day. Google TV: So, this projector comes with Google TV pre-installed with access to tons of applications that you can use anywhere without having to connect any wires. One thing I like would like to mention about the Google TV application is that when I was setting up this projector in my Google Home application and nearing the end of my setup the application asked if I wanted to setup my soundbar that is connected to my Google Home to the projector for Audio. I know its not really that big of a deal, but I was just found it convenient that I didn’t have to go through another setup process and that the app was able to do it all in one go. Ports: 1 HDMI (ARC) 1 USB- A 1 Audio Jack (Headphones) 1 USB Mini port Audio: The built-in speakers on this projector are surprisingly powerful. I honestly was not expecting much because of the size of this thing, but truly blown away from the experience. The audio quality was clear and surprisingly loud, loud enough to enhance your overall experience. Conclusion: Overall the Epson EpiqVision Mini EF21is a great choice for anyone looking into a portable yet powerful projector. Its vibrant visuals, robust audio combined with its smart features make it perfect for movie nights, camping and even some gaming sessions.

I've had a projector in my family room since the '90s.  It's a fairly large room (24'x 14') set up for my home theater(s) (with a 7.2 surround sound setup).  My last 2 projectors were Epson's. My current projector is an Epson 8350. I've been planning to upgrade this projector once a true native 4K laser projector was available (for a reasonable price).  I've been following/auditioning laser projectors for about 5 years.  I auditioned the EF12 about 2 years ago. The zoom limitations really prevented me from using it in my family room.  The new Epson EF21 now supports the Google TV OS which provides full access to the full Google Play store (including Netflix, Disney+, YouTube TV and Fandango), all missing from most Android based offerings.  The EF21 has a greatly enhanced setup feature that Epson calls EpiqSense technology.  This functionality is almost magic.  The EF21 weighs 5lbs and is only 7.5"w x 7.5"d x 4.5"h.  The Google TV interface is excellent, I'd not used it for years.  Epson's implementation is superb, especially if you use multiple streaming services.  It takes time to set each up, but once done, it is so simple to find and use any of them.  The EF21 also supports HDR10 and HLG using a 3-chip LCD laser projection system. Getting the projector unboxed and set up was straight forward.  Plug it in, point it at a wall or screen, turn it on and within about 2 seconds it displays a Google TV logo that it autofocus on, then it determines screen size and then auto adjusts for keystone changes and refocus'. Within 6s a bright Google TV menu is displayed.  I then set up the WiFi connection (the projector also has an Ethernet port which I won't use unless high speed WiFi has issues. I then checked for a firmware update (which existed, it was over 1GB) that took about 20m to install.   I found that if you turn it on/off and don't move it, it restarts within 2-3s; if it detects that its not positioned as it was previously (or its power is lost) it goes throught its auto set-up.  The first time I did this I walked up to the screen amazed at the accuracy.  I could see the pixel separation of the 1920x1080 HD output but it was so crisp and clear.  I turned the projector off, moved it to the left about 3' and turned it back on.  The projector auto adjusted for the change and made keystone corrections that were nearly perfect. I repeated moving it further off center, now about 6' off center.  I didn't expect it to be able to correct this much.  And I was right, it had a smaller screen image with a somewhat trapezoidal shape, but it was sharp.  I went into the manual setup menu, and had the projector determine screen size.  I then manually adjusted the keystone.  The focus was a tad soft but a really decent picture, that from 15' away looked exceptional.  The projector will perform the best when it's about the same distance from the screen as the screen width, but with its auto adjust for screen size, it's perfectly happy with a 16:9, 16:10 or even a 4:3 screen.  The adjustments it makes to deal with screen size causes the razor clear sharpness to be slightly compromised, but barely noticeable.  My screen has 1.3 gain, which actually makes the whites from the projector a little hot.  From the remote I could easily turn down the brightness 30% and found the black/white contrast was greatly improved. I then hooked the projector up to my home theater via a 25' HDMI 2.1 HDR certified cable.  I played a 'setup' Bluray to verify the screen setup (that I've always used to set up a new projector).  The HD focus was spot on, the contrast still needed to be adjusted, a brightness set to 60% was spot on.  I could not quite get the blacker than black to display perfectly. I did a comparison between my Epson 8350 (with a new bulb) and the EF21 with the same source (different projector positions) projected to nearly identical sizes on the screen.  The EF21's 1000 lumens (10' from screen) was brighter than the Epson 8350's 2000 lumens (19' from screen). The whites were a brighter white and the greens were greener.  The reds and blues were pretty comparable. The gray scales both showed 64 discernible changes but the EF21's were somewhat lighter.  The EF21 from the shorter distance had a sharper picture, with each pixel more clearly separated.  The 8350's pixels with the longer throw distance, blended together more, the pixels were harder to visually separate.  Seated from 16' text was clearly sharper with the EF21.  The 8350's text had a bit of rainbow in their white text.  When watching a football game the EF21 seemed faster.  The playing field on the 8350 looked more worn.  The brighter green's on the EF21 made the grass look more like artificial turf.  But when moving from one to the other, both looked appropriate, both looked real, they were both great HD pictures.  I then put in a Bluray of "The Batman" in 4K Ultra HD.  It's one of the darkest filmed movies I could recall.  Here the EF21 was the clear winner, even the darkest shadowy scenes popped more.  It could be that the projector supports HDR10, which didn't exist when the 8350 was created.  The EF21 made it much easier to watch this dark movie. Switching back and forth, the 8350 just did not output the same range of colors.   I also watched Top Gun: Maverick 2.  I turned down my home theater to see how the audio from the EF21 was.  It was surprisingly well balanced.  No real deep bass, but the voices were clear and reasonably loud (with the projectors built in 5w  speakers).  There was decent stereo separation. Probably adequate for a small meeting room or bedroom.  Not that I'd trade my 7.2 surround sound for the projector sound.  It was just adequate.  A decent sound bar would be preferable. The real star of the EF21 is its smart TV functionality (Google TV).  It is exceptionally easy to use, the extensibility that is offered via Google Play is off the chart.  I have an older Sony TV as well as a fairly new Hisense both with Google TV.  Neither offers as much functionality as the version of Google TV in the Epson EF21.  This is what we were promised when Smart TV first came about.  The menu switching speed is outstanding, the organization of the menus is largely up to the user (easily changeable).  I was able to add dozens of streaming services that I access regularly.  I added a number of services that my wife also subscribes to.  Using different accounts for different services was straightforward.   I'm still looking for a reasonably priced, native 4K projector.  I was not sure that the EF21 would be as big of a step up from my Epson 8350 as I found it to be.  The 8350 consumes 272 watts of power when in normal use (and it produces some noticeable heat). The EF21 consumes 80-106 watts and it's nearly totally quiet (19/23 dB).  I can hear my 8350's fan when it is on.  I can't hear the EF21 when it's on.  The 8350's contrast ratio was 50,000:1, the EF21 is 5,000,000:1 (what a difference 14 years makes).  And the EF21's brightness might be quoted at 1000 lumens, but it seems much brighter.  It could just be an honest number and not an overstated spec, or it could be measured differently today.   But for me not needing to replace the bulb every 2000 to 4000 hours is the biggest deal.  The laser LED's are quoted as having a 20,000 hour life.  I've had 8350 bulbs which lasted less than a year and up to 2 years.  20,000 hours would allow me to use the projector 4 hours a day for 13.6 years.  It supports WiFi 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz (a, b, g, n, ac) with Bluetooth® 5.1 (I do wish it had BT 5.4, which has lower latency). I did test outputting sound through my theater's BT input and it worked very well, but the audio sent via the eARC was far superior. I could see using the projector outdoors with a decent BT speaker(s) providing excellent sound to a larger environment. The Google Smart TV is superb. The EpiqSense functionality/flexibility is remarkable and very easy to use.  The brightness is exceptional.  I'm extremely impressed by every aspect of this projector.

This compact projector produces a sharp, well-saturated picture that actually rivals my home theater projector. I was a bit leery of the one thousand lumen max, but it seems to do fairly well in slightly lit rooms and very well in dark rooms. Contrary to some reviews, I found the the setup to be fairly easy. The 5w speakers put out more sound than expected, so I don't think I'll need a bluetooth speaker too often. When you turn it on, it automatically focuses and sets the keystone. While it's not loaded with bells and whistles, it's always been able to do what I needed. The Black Friday price of $300 off was too good to pass up.

The Epson EpiqVision Mini EF21 smart laser projector is outstanding and packs a lot of resolution into a small(ish) form factor. Roughly the width and length of the 11" iPad and a coffee cup tall, light enough to carry around a bit if needed. If you don't have the space for a TV, if you need a portable presentation solution for on-the-go demos of videos, games, or photos in high-light areas, or if you just want a ready-within-an-hour-of-unboxing entertainment solution that has some really neat added bonuses because of the GoogleTV integration, this is your projector. The depth of apps was refreshing; you may not need any other device connected to this (including AppleTV) to access your entertainment... but you'll probably want it anyway. The device sports a singular HDMI port, USB-A, headphone jack, and micro-HDMI port. The projector - no matter where it was pointed - would very quickly auto-focus and level the picture. Epson calls this EpiqSense Technology, and boy does it take the headache out of finding focus on your own. What earned this projector 4 stars? - Ridiculously fast auto-focus/tilt correction - seriously. I held it in my hands and pointed at various walls with different angles, even on my couch... and it re-focused and leveled within 5-8 seconds of being pointed at a thing. - AWESOME depth of color and visibility even in full artificial lighting conditions. See my photos - even when projected immediately adjacent to a 60w LED lamp's blaring light, the image was reasonably clear. - Zero software or other weirdness to connect to computer HDMI. No jarring automatic swap (this is great for being intentional with what you're sharing). - Intuitive remote control... but there are NO controls on the device itself besides power (and as far as I could tell, I couldn't control specific settings without the remote control), so if you lose the remote... you gotta order a new one from Epson. - AUTOMATIC EYE PROTECTION. I got somewhere near the edge of the projector and the display turned off to prevent causing eye damage. What keeps it from being a 5? - No bag. I get it; if this is meant for long-term setup as a full-time in-house entertainment system, the bag can be a waste. But, for an event producer or traveling sales pro, you need the bag. (There is a hard case available from Epson for an additional charge.) - No HDMI cable. C'mon. This is a simple addition that saves your customers a return trip to the store. - The remote seems to be IR (infrared) only... which means you need to be able to point the remote at the face for it to pick up the signal in most cases - On slower internet, I would imagine the unboxing setup time to just do the software update would take significantly longer... as-is, it took about 20 minutes on my end. I also had previously set up a few of the GoogleTV-type things in the past, so I could quickly skip past some settings. Still, the QR-code-to-phone-app-based-setup means it's a pretty fast setup process as long as you have access to your smartphone and wifi.

So it took a little bit to set up because it has app connections and some updates. But overall, I’d say within 10-15 minutes I was ready to stream. It wasn’t too challenging because it practically walks you through setup. It’s portable, modern and compact. It can easily be transported if you want to bring it to a friend’s house. I’ve tried this out in 3 locations so far. My kitchen wall, bedroom and outside for a movie night. The purpose was all 3 locations had different size screens and lighting. I’m pleased to say it performed well for all 3. I was very impressed that I didn’t really do anything on my end. I’ll dive deep into settings to see if I can enhance quality, but this projector takes out a lot of the guessing. The kitchen had mixed light and I was still able to see the screen well. The bedroom and outside were virtually both dark and very impressive. Outside we had a 150” screen and boy was that cool! I took it to my wife’s school for an outdoor movie night and it was stellar. I connected a laptop to the projector, synced it with a large portable speaker and wow! The picture quality outside was stellar. I kept getting compliments on quality and how little space it took up. It weighs just over 5 lbs., so you can literally bring it anywhere. This’ll be a great addition to my family movie nights! Pros: Picture quality Auto adjust HDMI Portable Lightweight Minimal footprint Screen size can be up to 150” Google TV Apps - Disney+, Amazon, etc. Dolby Audio is pretty good! Headphone input EpiqSense - auto adjusts for best picture for your screen Cons: Nothing at the moment Overall: There are better options out there, but you really can’t beat this unit. I’m very happy with it. I seriously love the integration with Google TV and being able to connect this to my Google Hub.

The EpiqVision Mini EF21 Portable Smart Laser Projector boasts a big screen within a small projector. The EpiqVison Mini is equipped with 1000 Lumens, 1080 HDR, 3 CHIP, 3LCD, Google TV and built in speakers. Additional apps may be added from the Google Play Store. One touch access to YouTube, Netflix and Prime Video using the buttons on the remote control. Included in the projector box is the EF21 Portable Smart Laser Projector, the remote control, 2 batteries for the remote, quick start quide, and a power cord. You may connect the EF21 to a video source, ie:computer using the projectors HDMI port. Built-in Google TV or Google cast is available. Other ports are USB-A, and USB-B. Also included on the projector is a tri-pod screw hole. Setup is straighforward. After powering on the EF21 Projector and selecting region, you will be prompted to scan a QR code or continue set-up with remote. After several attempts to connect using the QR code, I decided to setup using the remote. When prompted, I signed into my Google Gmail account. The EF21 automatically detected apps that I have a subscription to and downloaded to the projector. From here I just signed into my apps. The throw distance for the EF21 Mini Projector is between 25"-88". The automatic Keystone correction will center the picture rectangle, and the Auto Image correction will adjust the projected picture. It also includes SmartEye that will detect if there is an object in front of the projection area. The built-in speakers are very clear, and will play audio from the video source. I will be using this projector in the guest room as an additional smart tv. Highly recommend.

I have been wanting to try out a laser projector for years, but was never in the budget. So when i saw this as a Black Friday deal i grabbed it. I love it especially after i figured out how to use it. The picture is crystal clear, like you are actually in front of the person your watching or like watching live sporting event in person. When plugged into your soundbar the sound is excellent.

Excellence all in one projector with soild portability. Ive used the projector indoors and outdoors for movie nights and the built in speakers are adequate for both however I do pair it to a Bluetooth speaker for better sound quality. The picture quality is excellent once it is in a dark enough setting. The built in apps make streaming easy, and its light weight makes it simple to move around. Adjusting picture size is also easy to fit the screen you are using.

This is my first projector and to say I love it is an understatement! Setup took a little longer than expected because QR prompts weren’t linking with my iPhone. So I had to manually enter. Once that part was done the rest was super easy and fast. Auto focus and alignment features are wonderful! Picture is clear and colors are crisp! Speaker is okay however if you really want a cinema experience I recommend adding speakers via Bluetooth capability which this projector has. The remote is easy to use! This projector is well worth the $ I paid which was 1/2 off the original cost due to the Black Friday deal.

Great picture quality for indoor and outdoor use. Internal speaker is loud enough to use for outdoor movie family nights. Able to connect to external speakers with the Bluetooth feature. The projector also has an HDMI port which allows users to connect another option of stream device (Amazon fire stick) if they prefer. Would recommend the EF21 over the EF22 if you don’t need the base. Projector is small and light weight. It’s easy to set up anywhere with or without the use of a tripod. Project has an auto screen adjustable feature which makes it easy to fix with an display screen.
