    EUFY Got Wireless Surveillance Right!

Anker’s new EUFY security camera system solves just about everything problematic about installing a security camera system. Cameras with 4K resolution have been available in wired and wireless varieties for a while, but with resolution comes the need for great power. Wired cameras can deliver power with chunkier wiring but wireless cameras, especially the smaller ones, require frequent charging. Charging wireless cameras is an inconvenience at best for internal cameras and is an unreasonable requirement for outdoor cameras. I have an older Arlo system that requires attention almost monthly. EUFY has attacked the wireless problem using a larger battery in each camera. The USB-C charged batteries are said to be capable of lasting a full year on a single charge. But EUFY has added solar charging panels on the top sides of each camera – and, in theory, with about 2 hours of real sunlight exposure, these cameras are supposed to be able to maintain a full charge indefinitely. Of course, indoor mountings would require updated annual (?) charging. My two cameras have been mounted in full and in restricted sun for over a week now and my cameras have never deviated from full charge (yes, that’s a short time frame...but it’s encouraging). Everything about the setup here is very intuitive. A smartphone app guides you through recognition of the base unit, updating the firmware, and recognition of the cameras. The cameras mount using an easily configurable mount that requires two attaching screws. My full hardware mounting and software installation took less than one hour. The base unit will only retain 16GB of stored images and video. But the unit includes a mounting rack that allows you to install a 2.5” SATA hard drive for basically unlimited storage. The 16GB of storage is surely sufficient for a setup with very little expected activity – but I was able to add 1TB of storage for just over $40. See photos. The 4K camera and powerful rechargeable battery make for a chunky and somewhat heavy camera – but the quality imaging and extended/unlimited (solar charged) battery life are worth any objections you might have to the way these cameras present themselves. See photo. The cameras capture stunning detail in their images. Daylight images are bright and clear – nighttime images, reduced to B&W for greater image clarity, are surprisingly crisp. When motion detection is in place, the cameras produce IR light to further amplify the image capture. See photo of nighttime capture w/o IR illumination. The AI associated with the operation of these devices seems to be very smart (e.g., detection of humans vs. leaves falling or cars passing in the periphery of the capture). The alarm siren, when enabled, can vary in strength from annoying to ear-piercing – it can be a real deterrent. The cameras offer two-way audio so that you can communicate with them via the EUFY app. But probably the most significant reason to recommend this system is that it gives you complete control over the capture and saving of images and video without needing a subscription. You can monitor your cameras remotely and review any captures that might have taken place. Additional protection, including offsite storage, is available if you require that subscription option. And I need to give them a real shout-out for their app. Every detail about this monitoring system is HIGHLY configurable – but the defaults in the app are sensible and changes are incredibly intuitive. After I turned off the alarm system, I was very pleased with the system's defaults. I will probably wander deeper into the configurations as I get to know the system better. My system includes two cameras, but the base unit will accommodate up to 16 cameras. Enthusiastically recommended!!!

Reliable and Feature-Packed Home Security eufyCam3

I’ve been using the eufy Security eufyCam 3 (the 3-camera kit with HomeBase 3), and it’s been great so far. Here’s my take on it: What I like: • The 4K video quality is amazing. Everything is super clear, and you can easily spot small details like faces or license plates. • It’s solar-powered, so I don’t have to worry about recharging it all the time. As long as there’s some sunlight, the cameras stay charged. • The setup is super easy since it’s completely wireless. I had all three cameras up and running in no time. • The HomeBase 3 is a cool addition. It keeps everything stored locally, so I don’t need to pay for cloud storage, and it also has smart AI features that can tell the difference between people, animals, and random motion. • The cameras are weatherproof, so they’ve handled rain and heat without any problems. What could be better: • It’s not cheap. The upfront cost is a bit high, but at least there are no monthly subscription fees. • If you live in a place with little sunlight, the solar charging might not work as well. You might still have to charge them manually sometimes. • The AI is good, but I did get a few false alerts in the beginning. Adjusting the detection zones helped. Overall: I’m really happy with this setup. It’s reliable, has great features, and the video quality is top-notch. Definitely worth it if you want solid home security without paying for monthly cloud storage.

I did a lot of research before buying this product and it has lived up to its potential. It is anvery easy setup for a high quality product. I have had it for over 5 months now and have only charged the cameras two times and that only took a few hours. The solar worked better the second time I put them up because I angled them better to receive more sun light. I feel secure with the footage I collect necause nothing is uploaded to a cloud service. All the footage is stired in the homebase. I highly recommend if you want a wireless camera with good quality video.

    Eufy getting better and better

I’ll start off by saying I’m a big fan of Eufy’s security products. This product is an incredible improvement on an already solid surveillance system. I’ve owned their Floodlight, doorbell camera, and previous wireless cameras over the past few years and I’ve never had a reasonable complaint about their products. Some of the major things I’m really excited about with this product is the solar charging, additional hard drive option, and of course the 4k recordings. Their older camera’s would work for months without needing a charge, and when it did, it was easy to remove the camera, plug it in for half a day or so, and it would be good for a couple more months, depending on your settings of course. I was tempted to get the solar panel chargers for them, but decided it wasn’t really worth it considering how rare I had to charge them. Well now I never have to do it or fumble with any extra devices and mounting, its all built into the camera…awesome! I mounted one camera outdoors and have one currently indoors to compare how well the charging is. Of course its fall time and it’s been a little more gloomy and rainy outdoors then it normally is here, but after a week and a half of doing my initial charge on the cameras and testing, my indoor camera is at 88% (only exposed to some house light) and the outdoor camera is at 95%. So the solar panels def make a difference. When its sunny, it even shows the camera as charging. These numbers are based off the “Optimal Battery Life” profile. Another great thing about Eufy is the storage that is included with their cameras, no need to buy or lease storage from them, they give you SD cards and you can upgrade them to larger capacity if you like. Well 4k takes up much more storage than standard HD video. I REALLY like the option to just pop in 2.5” hard drive into the Homebase. I have yet to do that, but am waiting for black Friday prices for hard drives to get one. I am surprised that it doesn’t accept an NVMe M2 drive as they are much smaller and faster, but either way it’s a great option to have. It goes without saying, but picture quality is great. The colors and details are great (see attached image), so I’m keeping my 4k cameras in the front of the house and my older wireless cameras in the back of the house. These cameras also include an LED light (Spotlight), microphone, speaker, and an alarm that triggers sound and lights. You can choose to have the traditional night vision or use the spotlight to light up an area, but that would drain the battery much quicker. One of the best things about this Homebase is the AI that’s built-in. Now Eufy has their Homebase powered with technology that can detect human faces and you can assign them names. You can manually add faces through the app and it will let you know who it spots in the cameras. With the hardware there, the product will only get better with software updates. Currently, unique cars and pet detection is in works as well. I feel like a lot of it is still in progress and but I’m impressed with what they have done so far. I look forward to being able to setup alerts based on certain recognized and unrecognized faces. Now on the flip side, I can’t say there is much about it that I don’t like. The cameras aren’t that heavy which is a bit of a surprise with all the technology its packing including batteries, but the problem with this is the mounting. I mounted my outdoor camera on the soffit, which is a pretty standard height, but mounting the camera doesn’t give me a great angle. I was limited to how high I could raise the camera so it wasn’t pointing at the ground. I was able to get it to the highest position which I was happy with, and I tightened very tight by hand to lock it in place, but the weight of the camera and gravity caused the camera to droop down and its been angled lower towards the ground. I will need to place this on a higher part of the house to hopefully keep the mount decent. You can see in the pictures I added where it started and where it ended up. Picture attached of the highest angle the camera can reach. Also, the option where you can talk to the camera speaker through your phone is a bit sketchy. I don’t plan on using that option that much, but sometimes it works good and others its like it missed some words or doesn’t pick up the voice from your phone that great. Like it’ll miss the first word or so you say but then start working. The alarm function I’m trying to figure out as well, I can turn it on but turning if off doesn’t seem to be an option, it seems like it times out after 30 seconds to 1 minute. Hoping some software updates can fix all this up. Overall, I really think Eufy is one of the best camera systems that doesn’t require a subscription. It provides alerts and convenience all within an app and you can manage everything from your phone. Others are “free” but they push premium packages on you or don’t let you record to the cloud. I’ve only had this product a couple of weeks, but Eufy has kept my home monitored and safe for years. I haven’t quite got my house setup for Google or Alexa, but I do look forward to being able to use the Eufy cameras with voice assistants. Definitely recommend this product and Eufy in general to my friends and family.

Okay wow. I have 7 other eufy cameras, and they are all great. However, this is my first set of 4k cameras, WOW. Major upgrade for my system, and they really shine over the others I have. The quality is unmatched by my other cameras for sure, as I have other cameras that are also not eufy. The fact that I don't need to pay for service is the reason I like using this brand, you can monitor and record at home with no fees. I use internal storage, even add an external hard drive with this system unlike my other cameras. My other cameras use an SD card, or have built in storage with is great. I plan on adding a hard drive, but it comes with 16GB of internal storage. The home base 3 is nice, feels strong. Installation is super easy too. You will need a smartphone or some kind smart device to set it up initially, but after that it's smooth sailing. When viewing footage from the app, it connects fast even over 5G (which I recommend you at least have when you're away from home). However, over WiFi it's very fast and smooth. The cameras themselves are smaller this time around, and look better too. The fact that they are solar, means I can put them really high one time. Never having to get back on the latter again, I love that. In the end, you'll enjoy the footage, and options for protection these offers.

    Amazingly Good Security System

This security camera system by Eufy is simply amazing. To truly appreciate it you have to have a camera system without 4k. Then connect these and see the difference. These high def cameras give truly amazing picture detail. The cameras are solar powered or you can charge them with the supplied cable. Eufy says on battery power they can last up to 365 days. With 2 hours of direct sunlight daily the solar power will last forever. I have other battery charged eufy cameras that I installed under the porch and garage overhang so I had to install these in a different location to utilize the solar feature. Porch/Garage overhang shadowed that solar panel. The eufy mount is very solid (unlike Arlo) and attaches quite easily and comes with a template to make install a breeze. The cameras 4k exceptional picture quality is only the begining of what is great about these cameras. The build quality is exceptional. There is nothing "cheap" about them. The night vision with color and spotlight feature are terrific. The 2 way communication and alarm add to the multitude of features. What good is a security system if picture quality renders them useless? The picture quality and sharpness of detail of these cameras is first rate. The cameras come with AI detection ability that allows camera to identify then categorize what it sees. Human, vehicle, animal, face it is quite amazing and a feature allowing you to identify people for future reference is also an option that you can activate. You can interact within the app to the camera and set zones as well as sensitivities and then activate or deactivate night spotlights and more. Beyond the quality of the cameras is a Home Base that easily allows camera setup. The Home Base connects to the router by supplied cable and is off course electrically powered. In less than 10 minutes I was powered up and cameras were synced and running. The camera install itself was another 10-15 minutes so in all, within 30 minutes the whole process was complete. The home base comes with 16gb of storage and can expand with a hard drive to provide ample storage capabilty at NO COST beyond the purchase of your hard drive. The app is 5 star. Easy ckean interface. Easy to navigate. You can even save your data to your private network if you have one. Very user friendly. As if that were not enough, the Eufy security system is FREE OF MONTHLY FEES. NO SUBSCRIPTIONS ARE REQUIRED. That is getting to be unheard of today as virtually all these security products require you to pay monthly fees to unlock and use features after you soend hundreds of dollars to purchase. The fact that Eufy doesn't charge monthly fees is a major reason to consider buying this system. Add the product quality and features and that makes the Eufy security camera system the best option for a security system. Buy it. You will not be disappointed. As with all the Eufy products I own I am completely satisfied.

There is alot of extra features with this particular unit that is probably not needed, such as facial recognition. After playing with the angle of these cameras and speaking to tech support, it seems that you almost want to point them higher than you would assume to, in order to get them to pickup the area you think they should be focused on. I do like the fact that they are wireless in the fact that they are "battery" powered and not hard-wired. The battery life has not reduced any since we have had them installed, almost 2 months. We have the 3 solar powered, and 2 just battery operated. After a slight learning curve, we have been able to adjust them the way we would like them to work, and dont have any complaints about the functionality. We got them on sale, so saved a bit of money compared to the regular price at Bestbuy as well as Amazon.

After spending years of paying through the nose, month after month to anothered monitored security company (upwards of $75 a month), I decided enough was enough. While I know that there are multiple security brands out there what I liked about the Eufy System was that the cameras are completely wireless with no fiddly batteries to change. Instead they use the sun to charge via built in solar cells. The set up is easy.. great instructions. Cameras were very easy to install with the included hardware. All in all great value for money.

Summary: One of the better, not-so-well known security systems on the market. The built-in solar for the cameras, makes you wonder way didn’t more companies offer this product and the ability to put a hard drive directly into the hub for almost unlimited recorder makes this one of the ultimate security systems. In the box: Smart hub 2x solar wireless battery powered cameras with built-in solar Cables Mounting hardware Setup: Eufy makes great strides in making setup easy and intuitive. The in app direction and vpice prompts makes rhe setup a breeze. User Interface: The UI is very intuitive, menus where you expect it to be and very easy to access and find certain feature. Couldn't be better. Recording: The smart hub allows for any size (capacity) SSD drive ro be installed. I put inna 2tb drive for the max amout of recording. I havent gotten to see exactly how many days since 2tb is a very large capacity capacity for an SSD but its well over a weeks worh of footage (only when motion detection is trigger. Conclusion: The Eufycam 3 is one of the best security systems availability that doesnt tie you in to spending extra monthly subscriptions. The smart hub allows for local recording to offer the option of saving money instead of locking you into a subscription plan. The built-in solar panels is a great features. Makes you wonder why didn't someone do this before. Would highly recommend this for anyone.

I love that these camera's run off solar power. It's now two months later and still runs perfect. I have 1 mounted to brick infront of my garage and another mounted to my sided with a siding clip the siding one bounces some with high wind weather but holds fine charging has been no issue with the sun recording is also great and the picture is good I upgraded the space with a samsung 2TB off amazon my only negatives is the motion detector picks up my tree blowing and my grill cover blowing, since these objects are kind of in the middle you cannot geofence around them, which sucks I also wish when mounting them (you have to spin them till they lock) they had a better system so they would also face level, its hard getting it "exactly" where you want it to point due to this because you are also fighting the mount/screws and you dont want it to "slip" on the back plate while tighten the camera
