So disappointed in this printer -connection issues

Well I have had this printer for over 2 years now and while I do overall like it, I definitely don’t love it. No where near love LOL. I purchased this printer for 2 specific reasons. The first reason was because it is a wireless printer and the second reason was because of the ink and how I can refill the printer with the ink and not have to deal with ink cartridges and those issues in themselves AND the ink it came with was advertised to last 2 years and it has! I have not even gotten a notice that the ink is low yet. It does sound really good and I’m very happy with the quality of the printing. What I am not happy with is that the printer continues to lose connection to the WiFi and it’s a PITA to reconnect and most of the time I have trouble and have to do these reconnection steps over and over again! THAT is the only reason for the low score. If it weren’t for that there would be a 5 star review here. One other thing I’d like to add is there is another HP printer that was brought onto the same WiFi connection and every time I try to connect- it only shows that stupid printer that I want to chuck out the window lol. Anyways thank goodness I bought a 4 year geek squad plan. Going to contact them today to help me hopefully.

Frequent Wifi connection issues = Bad experience

Once you get it connected to the wifi, printing is great. Now, getting it connected to the wifi is difficult, and will randomly disconnect. The instructions to connect to wifi are hard to find and not easy to understand. Wish i had returned this - need something printed and can't get connected -and of course, none of the troubleshooting steps include anything about a problem with the printer, it must be your network or router! Doing a restore of the wifi setup now which takes 2 hours. This is ridiculous!

    Beware of HP Smart App

I liked the idea of how the ink is refilled in this printer and should last longer, since I don’t print often. The problem is that HP wants you to use apps to make things “easier” to use plus probably gather all of your information. I was able to print without the app, but never got all the features without ever being able to get the printer to connect to the app. I tried MANY times and searched the internet for things to try. When I finally decided to call and see if they had any advice, they said the warranty was past 27 days, so they wanted me to pay over $20+ to receive their help. Remember, the printer works fine. I just can’t get it connected to the app. Needless to say, I did not pay the money and would highly not recommend purchasing an HP product. They obviously do not stand by their products and will nickle and dime you anywhere they can. I have had this a little over a year and only use it an average of 3 times a month. Just last week, I was dealing with a paper jam already and am not confident this thing is gonna last.

    Good when it works

This printer is good when it works. Print quality is good for B/W and okay for color. A little slow in regards to starting up and print speed (both B/W and color). The only reason I’m giving it two stars is for the ink tanks as ink tanks are great for saving money on expensive cartridges. The major issue is I’ve had this printer less than a week and have already had to unplug it from the wall to reset it 4 times due to connectivity issues or getting the “all lights flashing” error for no reason (able to print once or twice), then the next day or so, it will give the error and say the printer is “unavailable”. I will be returning this one.

Prints well but has difficult flaws

The pros are that it prints quickly & double-sided, & uses less ink. The CONS are difficult setting up, constantly disconnects from wifi (not a problem with other printers in the home), MUST use HP Smart app to scan anything as the few buttons & tiny screen do not provide any instruction, it will cancel any job mid-progress if you leave that window.

    Lots of errors

Something I like about this printer is that I am able to scan photos and other documents. Every once in a while I will have trouble scanning photos in terms of having to crop the photo on the app. I have had this printer for 3 months and I was finally able to buy the hp photo paper and I did not like how my photos turned out. The photos look a bit grainy and the colors are not vibrant. In other words, it looks toned down. I don’t use the printer a lot but I do have a lot of paper jam problems with this printer. It’s so annoying that it takes a long time to fix the situation. I also get a lot of other errors. Sure, the hp app has videos that show you what could be possibly wrong with the printer and how to fix it but, there are a lot of errors with this printer. One thing I like is that I can print documents on my phone through the app, while being away from home.

    Non responsive and poor scanning

The printer stores massive amounts of ink and I can do a lot of printing without replacing the ink. The problem I have is the printer doesn't connect very well with my laptop (I connect wirelessly with my laptop very close) and at times I have to frequently pull the plug to reset the printer so it can connect. Also this printer does not have an automatic feeder for scanning documents so that if I have to scan a bunch of documents, I have to manually scan each page one at a time.

Good only for text or b/w print - bad color print

Good concept with the ink in tank but the print quality is highly reduced. I have tried 2 of this model, thinking the first one was bad or just configuration, but even with the second the print quality is not what I need. If you plan to print only in B/W or text it may work, for pictures and colorful images this is not a good option. Returning it. The app and its connectivity with WiFi is poor as well, it get out of WiFi randomly (yes, I have good bandwidth).

    Buyer Beware

I am told the printer is a good one if you can get it to properly install. In my view, customer support using the install app is not helpful. I have spent much more time and ink and paper getting this to work properly that I am considering returning it and going with a different brand. So far after multiple attempts I cannot get the unit to scan to my desktop. I am pleased that Best Buy has a liberal return policy because if I cannot solve install problems after one final attempt it is going back. I have learned that others who have this exact same model have the same complaints- "works well, IF you can get it installed using their software instructions, and support is not helpful if you run into a problem" Buyer Beware.

We have had our printer for less than 3wks. It has jammed and had more errors than successful prints. For the amount of money these things costs, this should not be an issue. Definitely returning.

The printer will not print. I tried several times. Then i will receive a message that there is a security certificate that needs to be approved in order to print. Why not send this message when i first attempt to print instead of after several attempts. FRUSTRATING.

I am used to High Quality printed photos. This ink is somehow different from Office Jet Pro ink cartridges. It is Crisp and Clear. And the ink does not dry fast enough. It smeared to some degree with all of the approx. 15 photos that I printed. - They say that the ink lasts much longer, and that may be true. But, the negatives outweighed the positives for me with this printer.

I did like this printer, but upon moving to another state, it failed to connect to the Internet. I had to return the printer to Best Buy. So glad I took out the replacement plan. The printer only lasted 1 and 1/2 months.

I was happy with the ease of setting it up and operating it. But it was prone to paper jams when using mailing labels. It was extremely hard to get to the paper jam and getting it back on line. This time, it isn't coming back on line and I can't get to the spot where it may have some paper stuck in it. I love HP products, but this is disappointing

I didn’t think it would matter but without a display I would not recommend this printer. Also I am a teacher and it needs an app and wifi to use the app for troubleshooting. My district blocks this so difficult to use at school. The printer worked great for about a week. Then the black ink stopped working it appeared to be traveling back into the reservoir. Hopefully, you will have better luck. The price was great though.

After going through 2 HP inkjet printers with high cost of replacement cartridges I decided to try this printer. I have already had to return it because I couldn’t get main screen off paper jamb when there wasn’t even a jamb. Very disappointed. Glad I had the geek squad coverage.

I hate this printer. Set up was a nightmare. I only print from my Samsung phone via wi-fi or Bluetooth. I eventually had to call customer service for help setting it up. Now the printer has to be reset every so often whichnis a nightmare. Last reset i am unable to just hit print and have it print instantly. I must go in to my phone settings, make the printer my main wifi connection, print, then go back and set my home wifi as default to hrowse internet. Worst purchase ever!!! The paper tray is cheap, flimsy, and extremely difficult to remove. I just want something simple to use and connect, decent ink, and good photo prints. Not the printer!!!
