Good purchase
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We really like this microwave so far. We don't have a lot of space so this is perfect. We had one that we had trouble getting a plate inside but this one has plenty of room without taking up too much counter space. The power and heat times seem really good too. It does have a button on the door handle you have to mash to open the door but it's not a real issue and might actually be a plus if you have kids as a safety precaution. Decent price for a good microwave.

Space saver MW...Works well!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love my new MW. I needed smaller than previous one. Works well, plenty of choices for type/times. Seems quality is not quite as good as they use to be...not just this produce, but products overall. Still a terrific buy for the price and my needs.

Decent Microwave
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The clock light is extremely bright. I can't see the selections without turning on an overhead light because they don't light up. Other than that, it's a decent microwave for the price.

Nice Small Size Microwave
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Insignia .9 cubic foot microwave has 2 major things going for it. First, it fits on my shelf space and second, it has the right amount of power for my use. I don’t have room on the countertop for a microwave, and the built-in shelf space is small. This microwave is roughly 19 inches long, 14.5 inches deep and 11 inches tall and sits perfectly on my shelf. Because of my size limitation I’ve never owned a high power microwave and mainly use it for reheating, defrosting and popping popcorn. The user guide is well written and easy to follow. The pre-programmed auto menus are mostly practical, and there aren’t a lot of unnecessary ones. I still don’t know why anyone would cook a pizza in a microwave. There are 3 options within each auto menu. For instance the frozen vegetable settings are 4, 8 and 16 ounces and the beverage settings are for 1, 2 or 3 cups. A cup of water heated using the beverage 1 cup auto setting came out to the perfect temperature - steaming, but not boiling. The popcorn I buy is in 3.2 ounce packs, which is between the auto settings. Both the 3.0 and the 3.5 ounce settings microwave for 2 minutes and 10 seconds, so the difference must be the power. I took a chance on the 3.5 ounces setting, expecting to have to stop it before the time ended, but surprisingly it came out perfect. The microwave dinged just as the last kernel popped. I had a less favorable experience using the “dinner plate” setting to reheat 9 ounces of leftovers, as they came out over cooked. For that setting I would prefer 6, 9 and 12 ounce options instead of 9, 12 and 16 ounces. I re-package chicken and hamburger in 6 ounce freezer packs and most microwaves don’t defrost a package that small well. Reducing the weight by an ounce resulted in an acceptable thawed package using the Weight Defrost function. There were still a few ice crystals and the meat was just starting to cook in one corner. There is a “turn” message halfway through the cycle, which helps. The only thing I’ll have to get used to is having to press Time Cook + the time + Start if I want to heat at 100% for less than a minute. I can’t key in 30 + Start because of the 1 - 6 minutes shortcuts. Pressing 1, 2, 3, etc. starts the microwave for the corresponding minute(s) without pressing the Start button. For half minutes > 1, I can press 1 + Start/+30 seconds for 1.5 minutes, etc. It’s just the times less than a minute that are harder. There is the option to have the microwave memorize up to 3 functions and to retrieve them by pressing Memory and then Start. Multi-stage cooking is also an option. This is where something can be set to defrost and then to cook - all at one time. That one could be tricky without some trial and error. The door doesn’t just pull open - there is a lever that has to be pushed up while pulling. It might’ve taken me a second to figure it out the first time, but there is a sign on the door with instructions. This is probably a child safety feature. There is also a Child Lock feature that is activated by pressing Stop/Cancel for 3 seconds. The buzzer sound can also be muted. That’s an interesting feature since the microwave itself makes a lot more noise than the single beep at the end, and I find the subsequent beeps to remind me there is something in the microwave to be helpful. There is an interesting recommendation of removing odors that I hadn’t seen before, using water, lemon and cloves. I’ll have to give it a try. Overall, I have no complaints. The size is good, the finish is nice and there is enough chrome to make it look classy. I don’t really like having to lift the lever to open the door, and the jury is still out of the 1 - 6 minute shortcuts, but I’ll get used to them.

Compact, Capable and Feature Rich
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Insignia .9 Cu. Ft. Countertop Microwave is very capable and feature rich, yet it has a very small footprint. In the box you get the microwave, a rotating glass tray, the turntable assembly and a user guide. The microwave itself has a stainless steel trim which matched perfectly with my other kitchen appliances. I had very limited counter space, but it fit perfectly between my cooktop and my refrigerator. Dimensions are 10.69"(H) x 18.61"(W) x 14.4"(D). There is a minimal amount of packaging tape that must be removed. It is important to note that there is a door release latch located on the inside of the door handle at the top. This must be pressed in an upward direction in order to open the door. This has many features that you might expect to get only on larger, more expensive microwaves. Express cooking times from 1-6 minutes and you can add an additional 30 seconds Auto menus which include popcorn, potato, pizza, frozen vegetables, beverage, and dinner plate. All of these settings can be adjusted by pressing 1 to 3 times. There is a convenient auto cook instruction panel located at the bottom of the front interior facia. You can also program 3 memorized settings for frequently used cook times and power settings. And you can set a multi-stage program for example a defrost and cook time setting. Now most importantly, how did it cook? We went from a 1000 watt microwave to this model which is rated at 900 watts. Truthfully I cannot tell the difference. Our cooking and warming times were consistent with our previous microwave. We are very satisfied with the cooking operation. However, all is not perfect and I do have some concerns, 1) It is noisy as most microwaves are when operating. However, in addition to the normal microwave sound there is a vibrating sound. I cannot isolate where this noise is emanating from, but it's somewhere in the interior housing. 2) The touchpad is a little difficult to operate. I don't know whether the touch point is just too small or not perfectly lined up with the numbers, but I have difficulty consistently hitting the number I want and having it register. I often have to hit a number twice to get it to register. This happens most often with the number 8. I have never had this issue with any other microwave. 3) The door release latch is plastic. I'm not sure how long this will last. I also don't see the necessity for this to begin with. Overall, as I have stated, this is a powerful, compact and feature rich microwave. There are some issues which are minor considering how well it performs its main function, cooking. I would recommend this product.

Nice microwave.
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had ordered a larger Sharp microwave but there was a screw up with the delivery and I decided I didn't need that big size so I went with this one. The sales guy was nice enough to bring it to my car and I was able to get it home on a luggage cart. I've had this microwave for a little over 2 weeks now and have been using it everyday. It looks good and is a good size. My previous microwave was 1100 watts and I'm not finding any difference in power with this one. I assume I'll get used to the minor differences with this microwave but I wish the display on the control panel was bigger or illuminated. It's a bit hard to read. I don't like the fact that there's only one short beep when it's finished cooking. A double or triple beep would be useful. It's strange because when the timer ends, there's a whole lot of beeping going on! I really don't like the way the handle operates. I've left the sticker on to remind me to pull up before opening and even added a neon sticker with an arrow pointing up to the handle to remind me. Hopefully I'll get used to this soon. My major complaint is the dim light inside the microwave. You really can't see what's going on at all inside. I've already had stuff boil over unfortunately. The clock display is nice and bright, I just wish they had done something similar for the inside. It's not a deal breaker but it's very annoying.

Perfect except...
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wish the I could see the cook times with out using a flashlight. I really like the preset 1-6 minute cook times and the 30 second start. Popcorn settings are iffy. Couldn't find the correct oz per bag. It's the perfect size for my counter space or lack there of. My old one quit microwaving after 11 years. It was also 900 watts which is all I really needed. Love the handled door as my old Oster just flew open and took everything in it's path with it. I would have given it 5 stars except for not being able to see the numbers and presets very well. Mostly the presets..and I just got new glasses. Also the light inside isn't very bright at all. The time lights up great but everything below that is dark and doesn't light up.

Insignia microwave review
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Insignia microwave has less power than my previous microwave so it took several uses to figure out the time I needed to cook foods. I like the easy 1-5 minute cooking feature & the easy :30 cooking use. The interior holds regular size plates & bowls without a problem. The dark buttons are hard for me to see at times. Overall, it's a good value for the price.

Title: Microwave Magic Without the Drama
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you’re looking for a microwave that does what a microwave is supposed to do—warm your leftovers, pop your popcorn without turning it into charcoal, and defrost your chicken without partially cooking it—this is the one. With 900 watts of power, it strikes that sweet spot between “I need this hot fast” and “I don’t want my electric bill to scream at me.” The sleek, stainless steel design is refreshingly minimal—no giant, clunky spaceship vibes here. It blends right in on the countertop, quietly minding its business until called upon. One of my favorite things? It doesn’t throw a fit the second your food is done. It waits a respectful minute before it starts beeping at you like your mom reminding you to take the trash out. Love that for us. Now, about the safety lock—bless its heart. Great if you’ve got tiny humans around. But for someone in a child-free apartment with walls thin enough to hear your neighbor’s cat sneeze? It can feel like I’m being obnoxiously loud every time I close the microwave’s door. It’s a small price to pay for peace of mind, I guess. Overall, I’m impressed. It’s efficient, stylish, and doesn’t act like it’s the boss of your kitchen. Solid 4.5/5 from me.

Good for the price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This microwave does the trick. It's compact, works well and is priced right.
