Durability Wasted on Disappointing Sound Quality

Overpriced for the level of sound quality in these buds. Unfortunately overall dynamic sound elements are sacrificed in this design in exchange of the impressive durability. I bought these for my daily outdoor excercise experiences to be better, since my other favorite headphones always eventually get damaged so the sound becomes muffled and much lower due to excessive sweat and rain water damaging the components within several incidences. These are indeed exceptionally weatherproof, sweat proof, etc. Yet the sound from the beginning is not very loud at the max volume. Crisp clean bright sound that helps maintain focus and intensity during my workouts isn’t achieved from the get go with these headphones. Max level is on par with 70percent volume level on my usual alternative brand/model of ear buds. I enjoyed the Jabra app for customizations but even that wasn’t enough to get the sound quality up enough to keep these as my primary workout buds. Searching for alternative brands I found the Sony WF-C700N to be loud enough with ample sound quality for really immersing my ears with the music as I workout outdoors. However they are only IPX4 so they probably will be damaged soon once I use them in the spring during the rainy season or when it gets warmer outside and I begin sweating much more and the buds get regularly soaked with sweat for 30-60mins per day. But only time will tell. These Jabra buds are not powerful enough out the box so the durable construction is wasted hahahaha

Fine in quality, insane QOL decisions

These earbuds leave me conflicted; on one hand they’re very comfortable, durable, and the battery life is great. On the other, there are some design choices that confuse and frustrate me. Firstly, the left earbud can’t work independently, only the right can. Also, since the last set of Jabras I owned, they have REMOVED THE OPTION TO TURN OFF ANC OR HEARTHROUGH. The option is just gone, and the noise cancellation can’t keep up with any significant amount of wind blowing across the microphone (like one would encounter biking or running). So half of the time I can’t hear my music over the sound of the noise cancellation failing. This single issue stops these from being 5 star product all on its own for me, as I can’t use my fitness earbuds for either of my main exercises. Sad to say I dropped almost $250 on a product that feels worse to use than a previous (and less expensive) edition of the same brand.

Hello BenF - Thank you for posting your review. We suspect that you have some questions concerning your Jabra Elite 8 Active Gen 2 and invite you to contact our Support Team directly. You can find contact information on the Jabra website at https://bit.ly/4clsP2s. To use either Elite 8 Active Gen 2 earbud independently, simply remove your earbud of choice (left or right) from the charging case and start your audio stream. Cyling through the Sound Modes (ANC, HearThrough, and Off) is done by pressing the left earbud button or you can make the change in the Jabra Sound+ app. You can also find a setting in the Sound+ app to improve your audio experience in windy weather (in the Personalize settings). If you have any concerns, please let us know as we are always happy to help! Thanks again. Jabra

They didnt last me 3 months left earbud is not working at all it began degrading and not doesnt work. I wouldn't recomend these for the price and for reliability or longevity. I washed them once they worked still but the left started degrading along with only me taking them to the gym and playing baksetball. My other earbuds lasted this type of abuse much longer and this one claims dont match my experience with them.

I’ve been a fan of Jabra’s in-ear buds for many years. When I read that they plan to exit the consumer market next year I figured I’d give their “swan song” earbuds a shot as my luck with previous Jabras had been great. These buds, however, despite their “military grade” specs seem to have been designed with inferior sound-blocking/sound-filtering technology. In the gym, the “noise” that would come through (no matter how loud I played the music) just made them absolutely unenjoyable to wear. And yes, I made sure the fit was snug and that both buds were properly “sealing” in my ear canals. Design wise these are a winner. They seem well constructed. The case is nicely designed. I’m not sure about that Bluetooth passthrough feature the case has because I didn’t get the chance to use it. In stark contrast, my Bose in-ear buds immediately squash the outside noises so I can enjoy the full rich sound that these in-ear buds are meant to deliver. I reluctantly returned the Jabras.

Did not work for me. One ear fit fine, the other ear the fit was not right. I was concerned that the bud on the ear that did not fit right would fall out. Decided to return them.
