These Are Really Great JVC Nearphones!

I was so happy to receive these JVC HA-NP40 nearphones in black with the open-ear styling. That is my all time favorite type of earbuds now. They arrived with an included USB-C to USB-C charging cable but no charger. Your charger must have a minimum of 2.5 watts to max of 10 watts per the instructions. I proceeded to charge them which didn't take long and as I mainly use them for making calls and listening to audiobooks I was excited to give them a try. There is some paperwork with a QR code to scan for the manual which I did. There is no app available but I wasn't bothered by that. One of the first things I noticed was the ear wrap has a pivot motion so you can adjust to fit your ears perfectly. I also like the fact that I can use one single earbud and when the battery depletes I still have the other one to use. These offer true wireless, 16mm large drivers sound, Bluetooth 5.4 and up to 26 hours battery life with charging case. They come in black, blue or green. They also have 3 sound modes ~ Normal, Bass, High and a touch sensor control. A female voice does alert you to various things like POWER ON ~ CONNECTED ~ POWER OFF, etc. That's part of the auto off/on connect feature and a microphone which is superb for hands free calls. When I used them straight talking they made it about 7 hours then I switched to the other one. Started charging the drained battery and in about 2 hours it was fully charged again. They are ever so comfortable and lightweight weighing about 0.28 ounces. I honestly forget I have them on! I found I can get about 30 feet away from my phone before the sound starts cutting out. I personally like the Normal setting. It's all around ideal for my various uses. The sound is crystal clear for myself as well as the listener on calls. I am so very pleased with that ~ no muffled noise or unpleasant racket. When listening to my audiobooks at night and I fall asleep then wake up they are still on my ears with absolutely no discomfort. Being a back sleeper these are fantastic for me. Not much else I can say except they are quite impressive and I have no CONS to note. Well made, great sound, easy to wear and well worth the purchase!

Great sound for music and calls

To start, the charging case in comparison to other "ear buds" I have is huge! That being said, there is good reason and good design in play. First the case is slim and fits easily in my pocket but the size is due to the unique lightweight hook that the headphones hang from. When JVC claims they are comfortable I must say that there is truth in that advertising. The hook gently rests on where your ear attaches to your head positioning the speakers just over the ear canal. The hook is actually able to pivot creating a secure comfortable fit. As for comfort, there is no doubt as I can barely feel them on my head. I was doubtful they would stay in place but after wearing them for several days now I can say they stay on very well. I enjoyed listening to all sorts of media while just hanging out, gardening, biking, and working out at the gym. I do wear glasses and there was another concern. At first I was thought that the temple of my glasses would interfere with the fit but so far, it hasn't been a problem. This style of attachment avoids that potential irritation caused by "in ear-canal" devices. Now, for this reason these provide no noise cancelation or noise isolation. Most of the time this is fine and if I need that I use my high end, over ear, headphones which are amazing but are heavy and bulky etc.... Sound quality is likely the most important feature on something like this and I can report these sound great. Through my collection of music, pod casts and other media, all were clear and crisp. This also includes when on the phone. I can clearly hear the caller and the folks I have talked to report that my voice is loud and clear as well. JVC reports that you get a total of 26 hours between the headphones internal battery and the charging case. I have not tested that long but I have worn them for up to 7 hours without the battery gong dead. A great device especially for the price - enjoy!

Finally, there are some "earbuds" for people who can't keep earbuds in their ears. The JVC HA-NP40T Nearphones are a great alternative to earbuds and don't cover your ears like headphones. Also, there's no pressure on your temples like bone-conductive headsets. They arrived about 70% charged which was more than enough to test them out, but no worries as they fully charge in about two hours. There's even an instant charge feature that provides up to seventy minutes of play time with just a fifteen minute charge. The Nearphones charge can last up to 7.5 hours and the carrying case holds an additional 18.5 hours of charge for a total of 26 hours of charge! The unique pivot-design of the earpiece allows them to be adjusted making them fit snug against your ears, unlike so many products that just seem to hang there. The open-air design allows you to listen, yet still be aware of your surroundings. The speaker sits just outside your ear canal, rather than "in" your ear, yet the sound is as if they were "in". The sound is great and can even be adjusted with three built-in sound modes - normal, high, and bass. They also have an IPX4 splashproof rating and have a built-in microphone so you can use them for hands free calls. The controls are simple and performed by pressing the sensor area of each nearphone. On the left ear press once for play/pause, twice to lower the volume, three times to increase volume, and hold for one second to switch between sound modes. On the right ear, press once for play/pause, twice for fast-forward, three times for rewind, and like the left ear, hold for one second to switch sound modes. For phone calls one touch on either ear answers the call and holding for one second ends the call. When not in phone mode, tapping the left ear quickly four times activates your voice assistant (Siri for IPhones). Overall the sound is great, they're comfortable to wear, and are a great alternative to earbuds or headphones!

I wasn't sure how I would feel about these as I have never tried nearphones or anything like this design before. After testing these in every environment I frequent the last few days there are several points to cover. As far as fit they are very comfortable. You could leave these on and not even think about it. The quality is good and the adjustable fit is great. The case itself is just barely good enough and would be better if they secured the buds better. As far as sound goes I got to say for walking outside, at the store and even driving while listening to podcasts or watching video they really shine way more than I expected. That's the star of the show here. For music I would say they are subpar but that's the design and the law of physics are what they are. They get plenty loud enough for podcasts and such but music seems to be hindered even more with wind or background noise. Call quality was excellent. I will continue to use these in environments where safety is a priority as the experience of having unplugged ears is worth it. Even transparency modes and other options just aren't the same. Just understand for music you would probably be underwhelmed. They are excellent as a situational second pair and I would recommend them.

I really wasn't sure what to think of these headphones. I had never worn nor heard of a near ear headphone. But I can say I'm very surprised how much I live them. Now these aren't by any means hi fidelity so if that's what you should look somewhere else. But where these do shine is comfort and the ability to stay connected to the world around you while listening to a podcast or music. The sound quality is actually pretty good. Like I said it's not hi Fi. But I've worn them in public, while mowing and at the gym and could still hear everything I was listening too and still was able to hear everything around me too. It was a unique feeling that I really liked. Comfort wise these are incredible. Since nothing is poking in my ear I could wear them all day with no discomfort at all. I loved this, though people did feel weird talking to me with them on my head. Battery life is great, I was able to listen off and on all day for a few days and just charge the case every other day. Overall these are incredible if you want a good sounding, comfortable headphone that lasts all day and let's you still hear what's going on around you.
