I recently added the Klipsch Reference Series 10" Powered Subwoofer to my home audio setup, and it has completely transformed my listening experience! The black finish is sleek and fits perfectly with my other equipment, but it’s the sound that really stands out.
The 150 watts of power delivers deep, rich bass that you can really feel, making movies and music come to life. Whether I’m watching action-packed films or enjoying my favorite tracks, the subwoofer adds a whole new dimension to the audio. It handles low frequencies beautifully without distortion, even at higher volumes.
Setup was a breeze, thanks to the straightforward connections. I appreciated the adjustable gain and crossover settings, which let me customize the sound to fit my room perfectly. The compact design is also a plus—it doesn’t take up too much space while still delivering powerful performance.
Overall, the Klipsch Reference Series 10" Powered Subwoofer is an excellent addition for anyone looking to enhance their audio experience. It offers fantastic sound quality and great value for the price. Highly recommended!

Klipsch R-101SW II vs Pioneer SW-8MK2
My review consists of a comparison of the two sub-woofers their features, overall performance and which unit I feel provides the best value. The Klipsch is equipped with a 10" driver, it is a front firing unit and its cabinet is rear ported. The Pioneer is equipped with an 8" driver, it is a down firing unit and its cabinet is ported in the front. The Klipsch produces a continuous maximum output of 150 watts while the Pioneer's maximum output is 100 watts. Both units share similar control panels on the rear of their respective cabinets, which include volume, frequency and phase controls. In addition both have a three position toggle power switch. Both units also share two Line In inputs which allow them to be connected to an A/V Receiver utilizing an RCA type sub-woofer cable. The Pioneer also has a feature that the Klipsch does not, which is four Speaker Level inputs which is designed to be used on receivers which do not incorporate any RCA type subwoofer outputs. The power cord on the Klipsch is removable and plugs into the rear of the cabinet, the power cord on the Pioneer is permanently attached to the unit. The Pioneer units is considerable smaller than the Klipsch, as it measures W x H x D 12 1/4" x 14 1/4" x 12 1/4" overall, this may be of importance if space is limited.
The Klipsch has a removable grill which provides one with the choice of leaving the grill off and displaying the 10 " copper colored driver. The Pioneer weighs 20 pounds 4 oz and the Klipsch weighs 31 pounds. The frequency range of the Pioneer is 38Hz - 150Hz. The Klipsch unit is rated as High Resolution Audio and has a all digital amplifier. Both Units have a led status indicator on the front of their respective cabinets, which works in conjunction with the auto on/off power switch of each unit. Performance wise, I found that the Klipsch was definitely capable of producing more bass and its phase control provided a somewhat smoother introduction and mix of its bass audio than the Pioneer. However, the room that my 7:1 home theater system is set up in has a carpeted floor and the carpet and padding absorbs rather than reflect the bass audio from the down firing driver. That said the Pioneer would perform better on a hardwood or tile floor and the Klipsch functions well on any type of floor. I personally felt that the overall cabinet finish and the application of its wood grain vinyl was superior to that of the Klipsch. The Klipsch currently has a suggested Retail Price of $499.00 and the Pioneer had a retail price of under $200, the Pioneer was designed by Andrew Jones, it is five years old, looks and operates like new. The Klipsch has a five year warranty and time will tell if it lasts the test of time. I would recommend that if you decide to purchase a Klipsch that you wait until the unit is goes on SALE @ Best Buy! The attached photos are of the Pioneer unit for comparison purposes.

I'm loving this subwoofer, I thought I had a great subwoofer in the past (those smaller ones that come included with a value home theater), but oh boy, I was so wrong! This thing is a beast, and is build like one. Its heavy and so powerful. It truly makes my place move and the bass is clear and without any distortion. It's not that big width wise, it's more of wider front to back, almost like a rectangle. It can handle a freq range of 29.5hz to 120 hz. I have set my crossover to 80hz so it catches freqs that my other speakers don't handle. It has a powerful amplifier and plugs to power. The driver is front firing and It has a small LED on the front to indicate whether its on or off. On the back you will find a low pass and phase control, LFE input and volume (named gain). The power switch has 3 positions (on, off or auto). I love the auto position, as it only turns on (automatically) if it receives any signal from your receiver, so it also turns automatically off, thus saving you power. The sound is clear and phenomenal, its plenty enough for a small to a medium place (heck, even a large one, is that powerful). Honestly, if you live in an apartment, this is not for you, your neighbors will complain! (jokes aside, you can tune the volume at your preference).

Great Subwoofer!

The Klipsch 101SW subwoofer is a power sub that will rattle your house.
The subwoofer is very big, not just in size but also in sound. The quality of the subwoofer is premium and at first glance you can immediately tell. The sub has a sturdy thick grill that can be detached to show off the copper-colored woofer, and it looks great. On the back of sub, is where you have the controls and the inputs. One thing I really like is that Klipsch gave this sub a detachable power cord, I don’t usually see that in many subs and it’s a nice feature. The encloser is made of sturdy wood, that’s painted black. The sub is fairly long, its much longer than I was expecting it to be. At 18 ½ inches, It does stick out a bit further than I would have liked it to, but I will gladly accept the length if it means better sound quality.
The sound quality of the sub is great. It really hits hard and heavy and has plenty of power to rumble a small building. On the back of the sub there is a vol knob and a gain knob that can be independently tuned to give you the desired amount of bass. I’ve had good subwoofers in the past, and I’ve had cheap subwoofers, it’s easy to tell a cheap one right away. The bass will sound muffled, sharp, rattly, and usually drown out any sort of quality. While a good sub has smooth, deep and solid bass, that feels good and compliments the source sound. Whether you’re using it for music or for a surround sound, a good subwoofer can make all the difference.
When I got the sub, I tested out the sub in 2 different ways…First, I wanted to test the quality for music, so I connected it with 2 Klipsch Reference R50 bookshelf speakers. The quality was great, very smooth bass giving me a solid listening experience. The second setup I tried was for my home theater setup, and for this set up I used it with a 5.2.1 Dolby Atmos configuration. The outcome was amazing! I felt every explosion in action sequences, and it gave the soundtrack a great boost. This felt like a real movie theater experience.
Overall, I am very happy with the Klipsch subwoofer. The look of the sub is gorgeous (especially with the grill off). The removable power plug is a great option to have, not to mention the sound quality of the sub. It sounds amazing, it has excellent quality bass that can shake your whole house. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a new subwoofer.

Powerful Subwoofer will Rock Your Home Theater

I recently set this subwoofer up as part of a new speaker system from Klipsch. My wife mocked me when I said the system sounded and felt great. She didn’t believe I could “feel” the sound coming from the subwoofer. That is, she mocked me until I fired up her favorite movies to show her how powerful the Klipsch Reference Series 101SW - 10’ Subwoofer is. Apartment residents beware, this sub could lead to an eviction notice in your future. It’s loud. It’s powerful. It’s awesome. During music and movie playback, this subwoofer rocks the house. It sounds and feels great. In terms of floor space required, it’s a bit bigger than I expected, but I love this subwoofer. Klipsch makes amazing sounding speakers and the Klipsch Reference Series 101SW – 10’ Subwoofer is another fine speaker.
I received the Klipsch Series 101SW – 10’ as a part of a Klipsch Reference package containing Series 50M Bookshelf Speakers, Series 30C Center Channel Speaker, Series 600F Floor Standing Speakers, Series 40SA Surround Sound Speakers, and an Onkyo - TX – NR6100 7.2 Channel THX Certified Network A/V Receiver. The entire package was perfectly balanced, and, despite being just one part of a powerful sound system, the 101SW definitely shook the house a bit and I doubt the system would have been as good without it.
The back of the subwoofer comes with a few different knobs and toggles. The “Gain” knob is essentially a volume control for the device. “Low Pass” allows you to set the crossover frequency of the subwoofer. As for which setting to set “Low Pass”, the opinions I sought out seemed to be dependent on personal preference and the size of your existing speakers. 80hz is the THX standard. However, if your speakers are smaller or if you personally find 120hz to sound better, then I don’t believe there is a “wrong” answer here. There is a “Phase” toggle on the back of the speaker. I left the toggle on 0. However, whether you want the toggle on 0 or 180 is going to come down a lot to your system and how the sub works with your existing speakers. If you notice the bass on the sub cancelling out the bass from your other speakers, you may want to experiment with the 180 degree setting. The sub is equipped for RCA or LFE inputs. Most receivers now have LFE outputs and that was how I set the system up.
The sub takes up a decent footprint for a 10’ subwoofer. It has a depth of about 20 inches, stands about 15 inches, and is roughly 14 inches wide.
With surround sound systems, the subwoofer is an important component of the system. The Klipsch Reference Series 101SW – 10’ Subwoofer sounds great. It can rock the house and I love it. Easy to recommend. 5/5

The Klipsch R-101-SW, like the rest of Klipsch reference line, is a beautiful speaker with a great build quality. They all pair visually and audibly well with one another.
I have the sub setup with:
Onkyo TX-NR6100 7.2 Channel THX Certified Network A/V Receiver
Klipsch Reference Series 600F Floor Standing Speaker (2)
Klipsch Reference Series 40SA Surround Sound Speakers
Klipsch Reference Series 30C Center-Channel Speaker
Klipsch Reference Series 50M Bookshelf Speakers (2)
I was eyeing the 12' subwoofer to start, but ending up going with the 10' for the room I have to play with in my space. I can say this subwoofer does not dissapoint, it has a presence that you can feel and give you such a hard hitting boom that I can't complain about with playing games, watching movies or blasting music. The boom when you get a parrying strike is so satisfying with this sub!
I haven't tried isolating this speaker so I can't really speak of the details. I love music, and that double bass! I am however not an audiophile where I could give about giving you any specifics to the speakers capabilities. However, I can say that I am looking forward to getting a ton of use out of this subwoofer, for my space this fits well and does not disappoint (even the 10') regardless of the media I consume!
