Lorex has been around for about 30 years and they hold the highest market shares for 4K security cameras. That in itself is already a testament to the longevity and quality of their products. So when I needed a WiFi camera to monitor my office while away, I gave Lorex a try with their 2K Dual Lens Indoor Pan-Tilt Wi-Fi Security Camera which is offered at a very reasonable price. For starters, let's look at what you get: The camera, a power adapter and a couple of guides, as well as mounting hardware to have it upside down on a ceiling. I thought this opened a lot of possibilities and makes this camera really easy to install wherever you actually need it. Big thumbs up for that! After mounting it, I installed the app and started adjusting the settings to my liking. A quick note about the app: It's very, very well done, easy to navigate and use. Adding the camera was a breeze and doesn't require a dedicated hub. You can check the reels by date and time and pause detection with the push of a button, before it turns back on. I thought this to be an awesome thing, since I don't need the camera to go off every time I walk in or out of the room. Or if my Yorkie has the zoomies. And now, to the actual hardware. The cameras both are able to capture in 2K, which is more than enough at this point in time. During daytime you'll have full color, while night vision renders in black and white, which is also fairly common. The top camera can pan and tilt, which is great to cover more angles than a fixed camera. The camera is very responsive and the image is crystal clear. The bottom camera is the lonely guardian, keeping a keen CMOS sensor at a everything going on. I think that a 2 camera setup might be the best configuration to have, as you have much more control over what you can see and virtually eliminating dead spots. I have had this camera for a bit over a week and all I can say is that it is a great product so far. I haven't run into any problems and I feel much better knowing my office is secure when I'm not there. I even found my keys I had left on my desk using this camera. It's really a great buy if you want a room secured and as a bonus, you don't need a subscription or anything like that, just plop a MicroSD card in there and you're good to go. I really can't say much more other than that I would recommend this security camera. Two thumbs up!

    What A Great Security Camera

I am writing this review for the Lorex 2K Dual Lens Indoor Pan/Tilt Wi-Fi Security Camera. I have to start this review off by saying that this camera is a winner. From start to finish, it is the real deal. Let me explain why… I already had two Lorex outdoor cameras. They are now approaching about five years old. Because they are true outdoor cameras, and are left out in the weather year-round, they are of course beginning to show signs of wear. But they still function as well as they did when I first got them. In addition, I already have the Lorex app on my phone. As soon as I unpackaged the camera and had placed it where I wanted it, I began the setup process. I’ve said all that to say that I chose not to view the user manual/quick start guide because I wanted to see just how easy it was going to be to incorporate this camera to my existing setup. I opened up the app, clicked on the plus sign (+), and thus began one of the easiest setups I have ever gone through. From beginning to end, about the only involvement on my part was to enter my wi-fi password. In a matter of a few easy minutes, the Lorex Dual Lens Security Camera was up, running, and ready to go. The real test was whether it would work like it should, that is, would the app interface be good enough to easily operate the pan and tilt functions. It is. The interface offers a virtual joystick to move the camera in what ever direction you want. It really is a 360 degree panning camera, in that it allows you to see a complete 360 degrees. The tilt and pan operations are smooth, quick, and very quiet. The pan motion is not silent, but it is very quiet, whereas the tilt is almost completely silent. I know it depends a lot on the internet connection and wi-fi signal, but my response times, even away from home are almost instantaneous. Okay, so it moves great. What about the camera resolution? The Lorex Dual Lens is a 2K camera (1440p). Now, in all honesty, 2K is less than what many of us are used to viewing as far as other devices are concerned. At standard zoom, the Lorex images are quite sharp. However, once you begin to zoom in, the images do suffer some pixelation and blurriness. A part of me wanted to balk at the 2K, but then I realized that this is an INDOOR security camera, and the 2K resolution is more than good enough to offer clear images of people and pets. But don’t expect pristine clarity when zooming in on that unknown object sitting underneath the sofa. The Lorex comes with a 32GB micro SD card. The included literature did not say what the maximum size card you can use, but an online search stated you can use up to a 256GB micro SD card. The 32GB is okay seeing as it doesn’t record 24/7, but only on alerts. Lorex does offer cloud storage, but that comes with a subscription cost, whereas local storage is free, and in my opinion is more than sufficient. The one feature I was unable to find in the included literature is perhaps one of the greatest features of this device… the ability for someone at home to call you when you are away. With a simple push of the “phone” button located at the bottom of the camera, a person at home can contact you if they do not have your phone number. This may seem a bit baffling seeing as it is an indoor security camera, but if it is going to be used in a place of business, I can see how it might come in quite handy. Accessing and reviewing recorded events is quite easy using the “Timeline” function. A calendar appears, and there is a red dot for any day there is a recorded event. Like I said, it is quite easy to use, and the recorded images/videos are quite good. All in all this is a remarkably good indoor security camera. It tilts, pans, record, offers the ability to call, it has good resolution, and the downloadable app makes everything easy. It incorporated super easily with my other Lorex cameras. And like I said, it is super easy to use. If you are looking for an amazing and feature-rick indoor security camera with pan and tilt features, the Lorex 2K Dual Lens Indoor Pan/Tilt Wi-Fi Security Camera is the obvious choice. I will be recommending this to just about anyone who will listen.

This is a very useful dual camera. Lorex provides high quality solid devices that always work correctly and intuitively., I have other Lorex cameras as well, but this little guy is different. This camera has a lower camera and an upper camera that can pan and tilt via a mechanical movement. I already had the Lorex app installed. I opened the app and plugged the camera in, then pointed my cell phone at the QR code on the camera. The camera was instantly recognized and the app led me through the complete install. You will only see 2.4 GHz networks to connect to. Once connected and you name the upper and lower cameras (and also give the device a name), you will be all set up in just a few minutes. This camera comes with the USB connector cable and the 120 volt adapter plug. It also includes screws and anchors if you want to attach the camera to a wall. However, I preferred to just sit the camera on a shelf since the camera has a flat bottom and this install gives you some portability if needed. The camera alerted me that a firmware update was available. The firmware update downloaded in a few minutes and installed perfectly. Many times, firmware updates for cameras, key entry locks and other small appliances will require several attempts to complete successfully. Lorex updates are solid and complete without any hiccups. I give the engineers at Lorex a tip of the cap for putting together great hardware and software. The displays on my phone of the camera videos are crystal clear. You can zoom and pan with your fingers on the cell phone screen. The upper camera can pan and tilt via a ‘joystick’ on the cell phone screen that works smoothly. You can use a view where one camera’s display is a small thumbnail inside the other camera’s display and switch them; or you can elect to see both cameras separately on your cell phone, which I prefer. The many features include auto-tracking, cloud storage (optional), a microphone with a call button to talk and speak, night view, 360-degree view, local storage via a micro SD card (that is included) and more. The camera also sends an alert if it recognizes a person/pet in the view – nice. My house is one story about 60 feet long and 30 feet wide. I had the camera at one diagonal and stood with my phone at the other diagonal and could operate the pan/tilt feature as well as see the videos very clearly – great. In fact I could view and operate the dual cameras from my backyard, so the WiFi connectivity of the camera is super. I am enjoying this device with the dual camera design. It is fun and helpful to keep track of pets or just keep an eye on your computer room for example. I would highly recommend this innovative, very functional and well-designed little wonder.

Video and picture quality is good. I like the camera because it is very good at detecting human and sending alert. Also, I can pan the camera to view the whole room. One other feature I find useful is the privacy option, once you enable it in the app, it will hide the main camera lens and stop all recording. It will be more convenient if it can be enabled via a button on the unit itself or via some special hand gesture you can programmed. Installing is very easy, download the app, run the app, the app will guide you with step-by-step instruction. The app will first prompt you to power up the camera and ask you to wait for the green LED band to begin flashing, once that occur, press next and it will prompt you for other info such as wifi password etc. It does seem to require you to sign up for an account before you can proceed. I have no issue getting the camera setup and ready to use. It provides two installation options, right side up mount or ceiling mount option, meaning mounting it upside down. The unit has two cameras, the one on top allows PTZ, giving you 360-degree view. The camera at the bottom is fixed but allows user to manually adjust the tilt angle. 32GB MicroSD card is included but no instruction on how to replace it. I had to go on their FAQ website to learned that the card slot as well as the reset button is assessable when you point the main lens upward. The camera is able to detect person and pets and auto tracking your pet or person's movement. It has a button to start a two way talk with the person that has the app installed on the phone. The base has a colorful LED band, can light up providing some ambient light which is very cool. While using the app, I can initiate snapshot to be taken or video to be recorded but I don't know how to view the taken snapshots or videos. It is not battery powered so must be connected to wall outlet. It does come with usb power adapter. The siren is not very loud so don't count on it to scare away buglers.

Lorex has a new pan-tilt dual lens security camera. It's case is made of plastic but is reasonably strong. The pan-tilt camera is capable of cover areas well. There is also a fixed camera. It is within the bottom half of the case. They are 2K capable and very sharp. The cameras are HDR capable as well. Lorex has an app for configuring the cameras. The app is easy to navigate and makes available options that you would expect for a security camera. App The app is simple to navigate. You can use it set notifications, motion/sound detection, camera settings, light settings, update firmware, view recordings, download recordings, take still photos, set motion zones, etc. I like the app. If found it to have a good layout and it makes accessing recordings and live feeds simple. Camera Both cameras produce a high quality 2K HDR image. You can change this to HD and turn off HDR in the app. The pan-tilt camera can move based on motion detection and, within the app, can be moved manually using a virtual joystick. It can also detect sound, pets, and people. I found that it does move to cover movement, but there are times when it moves toward motion, but seems to have a problem keeping the subject in motion in center of the image. It does keep the moving subject in view. Sometimes when it moves to a moving subject, it will make some adjustments even when the subject isn't moving in the frame. This can be addressed by a firmware update, so isn't a big deal to me especially that the subject does stay in frame. The motors of the pan-tilt camera make a sound. This is a problem since I wouldn't want some intruder to notice where the camera is located. I can hear the motors from up to about 20 feet away. If this was being used to just monitor a room such as monitoring for a pet, then it wouldn't matter, but as I intend this to be a security camera that would record someone who would break into my home, the motor noise presents a problem. Any intruder would be able to hear the motors and see where the camera is. This isn't something that can be fixed by a firmware update. Final Thoughts The camera looks good. The quality of the 2K video is good. The app is nicely developed and the features are really good. I would like to see Lorex address the motor noise issue in the next version of this. It is well made and the dual cameras were a good choice by Lorex. If you are looking for a good security or monitoring camera and the motor noise wouldn't be an issue for your use, then consider the Lorex 2K Dual Lens indoor pan-tilt camera as a possible option.

I have used Lorex cameras for past few years and am familiar with them. I have their Fusion NVR and I have their indoor pan and tilt camera. I wanted to state this, as despite my familiarity with the system and Lorex cloud app, I found it hard to use this camera effectively for any of my use case. There are two cameras, both records in 2K, HDR. The one in top can pan and tilt all the way around. The one in the bottom is more or less fixed, there is a little manual movement one can do and that is what made placing it difficult for me. In one use case, the camera will sit on a shelve mounted high on the wall and look down. The lower one towards the main door and the upper one towards a room. The upper one does the job exactly as I expect. The lower one though cannot really get the angle right no matter where I point it. This limitation of vertical movement renders the lower cam only useful for some very specific tasks. I may probably re-purpose it as a kid room camera, where the upper one follows the kid around while the lower one is fix on the bed, but I am sure I will hit the issue because of restricted motion. I would love to see a future where there is more vertical movement or the FOV is broader. I am guessing a kid room is perhaps a better use case to solve with this camera, or a place where it is not set up very high or low and you need two different angles. The multi color light and the call button seems to indicate that as well. Apart from that, general setup was fine, the light for some reason is on by default and the app does not have a one tap switch to turn it off. I had to create a rule for every day and disable the light, too much to do to turn off the light. (If someone from Lorex reads it and knows an option to disable it, please post about it). The cameras in itself are fine it is just that it is not a very accommodating dual lens setup. Make sure a device like this will work for your use case. If not, I will recommend buying the Lorex indoor pan and tilt single lens camera.
