Garbage product, garbage customer service

The Best Buy technician told me it needed to be replaced & gave me the option to warranty it with Pioneer directly - returning it to Best Buy for the warranty was not an option. So he could leave the defective unit installed or uninstall it & leave a gaping hole in my dash while I fight Pioneer to warranty their garbage product. I felt forced into purchasing a new unit, which I did. I have been running in circles with Pioneer for 2 months, unable to make contact with any human being to warranty the product that conveniently will fall out of warranty in 12 days. I do not recommend Pioneer & I do not recommend Best Buy for your car audio purchases/installations.

Not worth it

But after 6 months it started glitching or would just completely shut off. This started happening more frequently after a while to the point that I had to have it removed. The company would not get back to me to replace even though it was still under warranty. I would recommend you go with something else, this is not worth the money or trouble.

Great! Until it wasn’t.

The condition was excellent, looked like it was never used, ever! I bought it in June 2022 for my 2007 RAV4. I didn’t get to installing it until October ‘22 when I finally had some time. I made an appointment with Best Buy and had purchased the harness kit and wires appropriate for the car. it is late July 2023, I’ve loved the enhancement to my stereo, until one evening I turn my car on, and the screen went white. The connection still partially worked so I thought maybe a cable came loose or some thing. The power screen would come up sometimes, but it would not move from the initial on screen with the Pioneer logo. I was able to make an appointment with the car audio at Best Buy a few weeks ago. Best Buy technician said there was nothing they could do. It was a problem with the unit itself malfunctioning. Since it was outside of the one-year purchase period and I did not buy extended electronic warranty with Best Buy, they could not replace it. Very disappointing and upsetting news to me, since all in all everything cost at least $500. Very dissapointed in this investment. :(

Garbage after 1 year amd warranty just ran out

Will lock on a screen amd freeze. Sometimes just gives a white screen with thin vertical color lines. When this happens at night the radio will blind you. It actually works very lttle now. So frustrating. Will never buy a pioneer again. Used to be my favorite. Now just junk. I see other people having same issue after several months

Do NOT purchase this unit. These are clearly defective. Pioneer extended their warranty because of pressure from the public to 2 years instead of 1. They will repair but only if oy are within 2 year window from date of purchase and have your original receipt. Mine went out within that timeframe, but unfortunately I did not know about the repair program and am now past the window. I'm sure their response will be that they are so sorry to hear about my experience, but we are so great because we extended the warranty, yadda, yadda. If that were true they would refund or repair all of these garbage units. No more Pioneer products for me ever again.

Doesn't last

Now we just get a white screen. Started intermittently about 16 months after installation but now is most of the time. Of course standard warranty is only a year. Was nice while it lasted but i guess $350 doesn't buy what it used to.

BAD HEAD UNIT BEWARE

It only has a white screen with colored vertical lines. Nothing works. I’ve bought other Kenwood products and have not had this issue. I wish I had gotten the geek squad warranty because it only comes with a one-year factory warranty. Do not buy this head unit!

Bad unit under warranty no solution

I installed it for him mid January. I was going to return after install as the sound would distort more then factory that it replaced. However best buy changed return policy from 30 days to 15 days so I was stuck with the unit. I researched at the time and almost all good reviews so thought maybe speakers was the issue. Since then the stereo started randomly rebooting every week or so. I just thought it was a quirk. I recently went out and spent over $500 in new speakers and amp. Sounds better at times as the distortion just got enhanced with the new speakers and amp. I have 2 other cars with Pioneer stereos they sound great but not this one. The one thing that stands out is when selecting Loudness low med or high the sound quality is really bad unlike when using the loudness on my other Pioneer units. I noticed others have same issue. I would avoid this unit and select one of the many they have as Pioneer usually makes decent sounding stereos. It must be a defective sound processor chip or something. I tried to take it back to best buy as defective as the Pioneer website states to do under support but they refuse to do anything even though it is under warranty. Seems I have to either listen to a bad stereo or buy another after the recent speaker and amp purchase I will need to wait a while. Not very happy.

Would not buy again

Had to send back for warranty repair which was $40 for shipping. Ended up buying an ATOTO, while I got the run around from Pioneer on the warranty. Much happier with new unit more functionality.

Don’t buy Pioneer

Pioneer will make you send it back for repair but will not pay for installation, shipping, dealer fees etc… not worth it. Look elsewhere.

I've had this unit for 4 months and after 2 months the screen started glitching out. Pioneer does not cover shipping back for warranty and then charges you for repairs.

Horrible waste of time and money

It started by randomly crashing when I would adjust the volume, but rather quickly the head unit switched to not being able to function whatsoever without freezing. Best of all? The warranty is 1 year, and mine bricked in 13 months. Apparently pioneers all have this issue on their solder connections, which can cause them to fail. If I was doing my stereo all over again, I would have never bought a pioneer.

I thought Pioneer was the best but…
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the radio on Christmas day 2021. I was so happy with it for 13 months. Then it started having a white screen with vertical lines about half the time. Will not do anything during this time. Eventually it will start to work again but only momentarily. I called Pioneer and it was out of warranty. They said this is a known issue with the radio model and they will repair it for $100. I looked online and there is a massive amount of the same radios with the same issue. In my opinion they should make it right if it is their fault. When I buy a Pioneer I expect it to last 13 years not 13 months. This is not the same Pioneer brand that I grew up having. I do not recommend.
