The feature set and size are great. The software lags somewhat but isn’t bad. The worst thing about it is the noise from the keys, but the optical switches allow for snap tap and rapid trigger. Good price.

If you're a gamer, you've heard of Razer and their gaming gear. Their products have been getting better and better over time and to say that the company dominates the gaming accessories market wouldn't be far from the truth. Every new version of a device always shows improvements and Razer has really made an effort to not only deliver great devices, but also some of the best software to support it. And here we are with a new gaming keyboard which wipes the floor with the competition. Ten Key Less (TKL) keyboards are everywhere. Some people hate them, others have found that they de-clutter their desks and offer a more compact solution for gaming. Whatever your stance on the matter, it's clear that it is mostly a matter of taste and use. If you use your PC for gaming only, the TKL style will very likely be a great fit. For work in an office, if you're used to the keypad, you might want to rethink it and go with a full size keyboard. This being out of the way, let's have a look-see at what Razer has improved on the Huntsman Pro V3 TKL. This Huntsman keyboard is made of a brushed metal alloy which gives it not only a good weight, but also a great feel. It also allows for the magnetic palm rest to be attached and detached from the device in one simple step. The keys are very comfortable and even being a bit more compact than a full size keyboard, it manages to be spacious enough to avoid hitting more than one key at a time. The braided cable is Type C to type A (regular USB) is long enough to pass around a regular size desk. One of the most interesting additions is the scroll wheel and the 2 assignable buttons in the top right corner. These buttons can be mapped to your liking, I use these to control the sound, but they can be used for many other tasks. And while I'm at it, I will point out that you can assign macros to 6 keys and more using the Razer App. The keys are VERY pleasant to use, they are slightly textured and are all individually lit. Razor has chosen to integrate new key switches dubbed "analog optical" keys with "actuators". As ominous as it sounds, this is very likely the best there is. This combination of different technologies allows the keys to be adjusted like never before. The actuators allow you to adjust the pressure it takes to obtain a response, while the optical part tracks the distance traveled by the switch and sends the result faster than mechanical or membrane keyboards. This keyboard isn't silent, but it is very quiet compared to regular, mechanical keyboards. Now that we've covered the hardware, let's talk about the software which is usually every manufacturer's (and user's) worst nightmare. Razer offers 3 apps to work with their hardware: Synapse which is your main app and allows you to control all aspects of your Razer devices, Cortex which works in the background to free up resources when you launch a game and finally, Axon which is basically a live wallpaper app. In my opinion, Razer has done an excellent job as I have rarely had any issues with any of these three apps. What's left to say? I have had this keyboard for a week and I *love* it. It is by far the best gaming keyboard I have had the pleasure to use in recent months. So do I recommend the Huntsman V3 Pro TKL Wired Analog Optical Esports Keyboard? Yes, absolutely, it's one of the best keyboards available and will work for casual gamers and enthusiasts alike. Excellent job, Razer!

I really enjoy this keyboard. The customization that’s possible with analog keys is a game changer. Hypershift lets me more than double accessible keybinds. Add to that the comfort and relative quietness compared to Razers green keys or other brands cherry Mx. Typing on this keyboard is the PC equivalent of the eerily smooth and quiet ride of a comfortable car that also has a beast under the hood. The synapse software allows mapping movement keys to controller axes so you can have sneak/walk/run on the keyboard without using a controller. My only issue is the Synapse software sometimes loses connectivity; it’s pretty rare but when it happens I lose some customizations until I restart it. Also I had severe issues with synapse when logged into my Razer account. It was remedied by logging out and using the software as a “guest”

Pros: Straight out of the box, this keyboard looks extremely satisfying. The brushed metal frame along with the solid black keycaps make for a nice contrast on any desk. Along with the keyboard itself, a minimalist wrist pad made of leather is provided and can be magnetically attached to the keyboard with ease. The wrist pad does not contain padding but still feels very comfortable while gaming for hours or typing up assignments. The feet of the keyboard have two different height adjustments aside from the flat default height, providing easier access to keys for some users who prefer it. The keyboard comes with USB-C and has several media and volume control capabilities that are useful for anyone who listens to music or watches videos regularly. The lighting on the keyboard is very vibrant, and the customizable per-key LEDs are easily mappable through the Razer Synapse program that is preinstalled when the keyboard is initially plugged into the computer. Typing is extremely linear, which is something I prefer over a tactile bump that comes standard on mechanical switches. Razor killed it with their Gen-2 Analog Optical switches, which are entirely customizable through the same Synapse software as before. They can be made touch sensitive, or less responsive until more force is applied, catering to any person's preference of actuation. Rapid trigger is also given, allowing users to input keys at a much higher rate without having to fully reset the key before the next press. An option to turn-key presses into controller inputs is also given, granting access to controller-only games that would be otherwise locked behind a separate controller purchase. Profile switching, while currently flawed, is easily usable on the keyboard itself, and changing actuation / swapping profiles on the fly is extremely simple. Cons: A very glaring issue initially is the price of the keyboard. It is very expensive for a purely wired keyboard and lacks the Bluetooth functionality that flagship keyboards from other companies have used on keyboards at half the price. There were also a few flaws that were noticed with the keyboard directly after plugging it into the computer. Running the Razer Synapse software is required to create custom profiles for the keyboard, and does not save to the onboard memory itself. When connected to Synapse, the keyboard transitions into a Synapse mode that allows it to access all profiles set up on the software, but transferring the keyboard to a different computer does not allow you to swap to the previously saved profile like one would expect, which is a key advertising point made by Razer themselves. Macros are also dodgy on the board, as they do not actually work at the current moment and only serve to disable the keys bound to the macros. The Synapse software does not store these macros anywhere, and the only way to fix the non-functioning keys is to drag the macros around Synapse, close and reopen the software, and then finally get the option to delete the macro from the F9 key, not any bound keys. This is especially difficult when playing games, as the WASD keys will not function once accidentally bound to a macro. Overall Opinion: The Razer Huntsman V3 Pro TKL keyboard is a very sturdy and aesthetically pleasing keyboard that supports a very responsive switch within the board itself. It does not feel cheap or tacky, and has a nice sound to it while typing, although a slight bit hollow in the spacebar that is not too noticeable for the average user. The few downsides of the keyboard lie solely in software for the most part, which can be expected to change over the coming months due to how new the keyboard is. I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a responsive gaming and typing feel but do not advise everyone to jump on it because there are more budget-friendly options for similar features. This keyboard certainly caters to gamers, but not so much to the average consumer. 4/5 stars is the rating I would give this keyboard!

LEDs are super buggy, keys register two taps when I only press them once. Product is just super underwhelming for $235. Changing the actuation settings is super buggy and Synapse is just an overall mess.

PLEASE DON’T BUY THIS KEYBOARD. The software creates so many issues with your PC it makes things unusable. One particular issue it created is because of the Razer WSD “controller” portion of their software that I can no longer use any controllers that I have attached. Not a single one works. I have tried Bluetooth, usb and an older dongle style Xbox controller and nothing works. It appears software related and I have tried every online fix. Avoid this at all cost unless you want to pay for a keyboard that makes you do hours of troubleshooting.
