I am a total noob to hifi and this was a my first venture into it after about 20 years. Bought this for a 2.1 set up. Cambridge audio integrated amp and Dynaudio emit 30 speakers. The good - subjective, but I think the sub looks beautiful, probably the best looking sub I have seen. Build quality is premium, feels like a little tank though this the second smallest sub from REL. The bad- bad is a little harsh, but you get what you pay for ( though at a premium). Goes down to 32 hz, If anyone is into chest thumping bass, don’t bother. My other problem is that it is / was a pain to set up the “right” volume and crossover. A few common sense additions like input selection indicators for the knobs will go a long way. Surprised that there were no visual indicators, that would really help rather than “set the volume at 14 clicks and crossover at 8 clicks with the knob”. Also the online advice to place the sub isn’t really gonna work if you aren’t a rabid audiophile (spend hours setting up and listening and adjusting) and unless you have a dimensionally accurate “listening room”. My real works scenario is a finished basement with real world shapes and dimensions where the room opens up to a larger space. I can’t keep it in a corner, period. The high level input is grossly overrated and to my untrained ears, a gimmick. Rel should probably supply a high quality cable instead, again just my opinion as it’s my review! If I had the budget I would have bought the 7 or 9x or bought something with more power ( at least in paper) but less expensive. Bottom line - do your research, you may love it or be left wondering why you didn’t try other models/makes in similar category. Will probably use it for couple of years and see if REl have an exchange program similar to svs
