Verdict: The Rocketfish 7-Outlet Surge Protector offers everything you would want in a surge protector: it is narrow so it fits nicely behind a monitor or furniture, it actually has seven outlets instead of the traditional six, it has two super-wide outlets for large plugs, it offers a USB outlet (12W) and a USB-C outlet (20W), it also connects your phone cord, cat-5, and coax cables for additional protection, and it has a 6-foot heavy duty braided cord. It comes with two non-slip feet so that wherever you place it, it stands tall, stable, and firmly in place. Best of all, it protects from surges with a $750,000 warranty for connected devices. I love it! Initial impressions. It is lighter than expected, and lighter than most surge protectors this size. It is not small, but because it’s thin, it can fit where you need. The heavy-duty braided cable is 6-ft long, which is really convenient. Installation. Take it out of the box, plug it in, and plug your gear into it and whatever other connectors you want protected. Literally plug and play! Performance. Our area loses power regularly during bad weather, so perhaps there are surges associated with power going off and on. While I can’t assess the performance of the surge protector on a day-to-day basis, I do have quite a bit more peace of mind that my nice monitor, desktop computer, and small devices are plugged into this surge protector, and are protected. I like that the surge protector displays a lighted “Protected” and “Grounded” display when plugged in. What I love: - It’s not heavy - It’s thin and can fit behind furniture or a monitor - The anti-slip feet keep it from moving around - The 6-ft braided cable is great - It has seven plugs, including two oversize plugs! This may be the first surge protector where I could actually fit 7 things I want to plug instead of losing one or two outlets because of really bulky brick plugs - You can plug many other devices and connections to extend protection and noise filtering - $750,000 warranty for connected devices - USB and USB-C connection! - 3-years warranty! What I don’t love: - Some plug adapters come sideways and some come straight. I have some power strips that are oriented in different directions to better manage different plug types. It would be great if this one mixed the orientation of 2 or 3 of the 7 plugs so you could fit plugs that are sideways. Overall, this is a great surge protector for your nice electronics or equipment. It is not cheap, but you get what you pay for. If you spent money on getting nice gear, it makes sense to spend a fraction of that cost to protect them.

Nice form factor, and great features, powerful USB

Ok, so the form factor on this guy is pretty awesome. Rocketfish is bringing a solid product and form factor here. Not only do you get nicely spaced plugs, and the body of the device as slim as possible, but you also get USB-C power delivery and a USB-A port as well. Considering the use case of USB in most setups now, this is more than a nice to have. Opening the box reveals a very simple packaging. You get 2 feet, a manual, and the surge protector. The protector has it’s plugs oriented essentially what would be the side of a normal suppressor. 2 outlets are spaced out nicely, while the remaining 5 are fairly close. Below the plugs you’ll find a USB-C and USB-A port that can output 32W of power total (2.2a @ 9v or 3a @ 5v on the USB-C and 2.4a @ 5v on the USB-A). On the end with the USB ports you’ll find a Coax In/Out and the 6ft braided power cable. The cable sports a flat plug with a rotation to the right so that you can use it in the top outlet without obscuring the bottom outlet. The surge suppressor is rated for 3600 Joules of protection. The fact that there is a $750k connected warranty means that the engineers feel pretty confident in this device. I’m not sure what EFI/RFI protection is present here, but the marketing on the box touts it. I did notice a slight hum from the unit when using the USB power. Opening the case reveals a centralized MOV with a primary Ceramate MOV shunts (marked MFVA20M’s), in fairly decent number (5 on the primary stage, 3 on the secondary board). I found the component specifications if anyone is interested: www.ceramate.com.tw/assets/files/Ceramate-SPD-MFVA20MNxxxKD-Series-D08-.pdf. The RJ45 and Coax both are grounded with a simple shared ground connection, along with the USB daughter board and primary outlets. There is a low voltage power supply board and a separate USB controller circuitry. Overall, soldering wasn’t too bad, and i’ve seen worse construction. Unfortunately I’m not really equipped to analyze the circuitry in detail, but hopefully the pictures help. I verified that the humming was coming not from the power supply board, but the USB board. Overall the form factor, ease of use, and powerful USB output make this surge suppressor a good product to consider if you have a flat mounting area for your TV. The fact you can wall mount this surge suppressor, and it has decent USB power make this a versatile product. Recommended!

    Good Surge protector

I received the Rocketfish 7-Outlet/1-USB-C/1-USB 3,600 Joules Surge Protector in black. This item seems to be very well made, has a modern, sleek design, that does not take up much space at all, also has 2 stands to keep it stable and not fall over. The surge protector offers protection against power surges and spikes. It has 7 AC outlets with five standard spaced outlets and two wide-spaced outlets that can accommodate larger plugs like TVs, soundbars, etc.... It also has a USB-C port and a USB port that can efficiently charge your mobile devices with 32 total watts. It also offers 3-line protection and a status LED light that indicates when your devices are being protected from surges. It has a right-angle plug that sits flush behind furniture or other tight locations. It comes with a 6-foot cord that provides flexible placement options. Also has phone/ethernet jacks and coax jacks. Overall, if you are looking for a surge protector with a good well-known brand, look no further as this can accommodate all you home or office needs.

    Flexible Power and Protection

Most power strips lay flat and have their plugs go in the flat side. This power strip instead has the plugs go in the shorter edge. It might not seem like a big deal, but this allows the strip to snug up against a wall or behind furniture and not have the cords stick out. There’s plenty of outlets for a lot of stuff including powered 2 USB devices without adapters and it’s all protected from surges and spikes. Benefits: * Flat design with plugs on the shorter edge. * Multiple mounting options. * 7 outlets with 2 widely-spaced for power adapters. * 2 USB ports; 1x USB-C, 1x USB-A * Long fabric cord with space-saving plug. * 2 RJ-11/45 jacks for telephone/networking. * 2 coax jacks for Cable TV/modem. * Provided stands to sit it upright. Areas for Improvement: * Outlets would fit things better if they were all rotated 180 degrees. * Is there really a need for the Coax jacks? * Is there really a need for the RJ-11/45 ports? Usage: The slim design and multiple mounting options add to this power strip’s flexibility. You can mount to a wall with the keyholes or lay it flat on the floor or a table. Either way, the cords plug in on the shorter side so it fits snugly against the wall or takes up less room on the shelf. Or you can use the provided stands and have the outlets on the top and place it on the floor behind a home theater or computer desk. Either way, it’s nice having the cords plug in on the side rather than on the wide flat surface to save space. Of the seven (7) power outlets, two (2) are widely-spaced to fit larger power adapters. The rest are standard spacing to fit power cords, but they still will fit a bunch of USB adapters depending on their size. I would prefer that the outlets were facing the other way, though, so that larger adapters would fit without encroaching on the regular outlets. There are also two (2) USB ports to directly power USB devices without needing any adapters and they can supply up to 32W total. The USB-C port supports PD and can supply up to 20W while the USB-A port can supply up to 12W. Both ports are on the same edge as the AC plugs. I’m sure someone out there might find a need for the Coax and RJ-11/45 ports, but I personally have never used them in my setups. If you want them, they are on opposite ends of the power strip so it still fits flat against a wall or behind furniture. The six (6) foot braided captive cord is really nice and gives the product a quality feel. The space-saving plug not only hugs the outlet but the cord comes out at an angle so it doesn’t block another outlet. There is a power switch that also resets the unit if it gets tripped. Other than that, it’s a pretty standard power strip with surge protection. The box claims that it has 3-line protection from surges and spikes and it has a 3-year warranty. Separate lights on the side indicate when the strip is “Protected” and “Grounded.” The box also claims that there is a $750,000.00 limited warranty against damage to connected equipment (certain restrictions apply). Overall: A well-designed power strip with surge/spike protection for up to seven AC, 2 USB, 2 coax and 2 telephone/network connections. The design makes it more flexible to mount and it has plenty of space for a lot of stuff.

Overall a nice 7-outlet surge protector. Well made and designed. The build quality is excellent and should last for many years. Durable and constructed well. I like the available USB-C outlet as well as the regular USB port, 32W total. Great for charging many different devices. The Joule rating on this unit is excellent and should protect even the most expensive devices. The 7 outlets are nicely spaced out and leave enough room between each outlet to fit most plugs. 2 of them are wide-spaced for larger adapters. The 6ft cord is long enough for most users. Note the 6-ft cord is a right-angle plug, which may be good for some, but not others. It also includes 3 line protection. The protector also includes 78 db noise filtering, along with a load rating 15 Amps. The unit does include phone/Ethernet jacks as well. I am not sure how many people still use a phone cords. For me, it has no use. What helps this stand out from "regular" surge protectors, is that it offers reduction of EMI/FRI interference, allowing only clean power to your equipment. Overall this is a great unit and should work well for most users. Highly recommended.

So far it has been performing very well! Packaged well, just plug in and load your electrical devices and you're good to go. You have to be careful when purchasing a power strip because you need something that is a surge protector as well. You don't want to lose your precious equipment. I chose this for the great reviews and seems to be well worth the cost.

It works. I cant say that it eliminated any noise or made the background on music quieter, darker. I wont pretend to hear those kind of differences. I can say that it is well made, i like the design layout as its not you typical power strip design. It works fine, i have no issue with close to $4000 in equipment connected to it. I would recommend this unit, no need to spend more.
