Customers appreciate the HW-C450 soundbar's excellent sound quality, encompassing both the crisp audio and strong bass response. Many found it easy to set up and use, with positive feedback on its Bluetooth connectivity and compact size. However, some users noted the lack of an HDMI port as a drawback, and experienced inconsistencies with the remote control functionality. Do not buy this product
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Do not buy this product. And especially do not buy it “open box.” Like some others have noted, I bought this product “open box excellent,” and received the product without the necessary power cords to even use the soundbar and subwoofer. I spent over six hours over a week speaking with Best Buy and with the manufacturer Samsung trying to get the missing cord and get this resolved. Both were rude, nonchalant at best and didn’t resolve the problem or bother to follow up on tickets created to address the problem. Samsung said I’m not eligible for a power cord from them because I purchased the item “open box.” Best Buy will not take responsibility for shipping me a product marked “excellent” without the power cords to operate the items. I had to request this product be picked up by Best Buy and a refund. It is truly unacceptable the way I was treated as a customer. And I have been a Best Buy customer for over a decade. Samsung also refused to take responsibility for shipping an item without the necessary power cords. I put in complaints to Samsung corporate to no avail. And Best Buy will not allow customers to reach its corporate office - preventing you from reaching them about issues with customer service. Just don’t buy this product. You will not be able to use it. And they will treat you like crap when you try to get them to fix the problem.

Poor soundbar performance
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The soundbar cuts in and out. The instructions ask to unplug and plug back in to correct. That only fixes the problem while on. Once it turns off and back on again the cut in and out comes right back. Awful. Stay away.

Posted .Hi TMSFitbit,
We appreciate you taking a moment to review the HW-C450 Soundbar.
I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing issues with the sound occasionally dropping from your soundbar. You may first want to check the cable connection of the soundbar to the TV or external device to ensure it is secure, and properly connected to the correct port.
In addition to checking the connections of the soundbar, please make sure your soundbar is using the latest firmware version. Updating the firmware on your soundbar gives you all the benefits of the latest improvements. You can update your firmware by using a USB device.
You may also want to initialize your soundbar by pressing the - and + (volume) buttons on the top of the soundbar at the same time for at least 5 seconds. “INIT OK” appears on the display and then the Soundbar is reset. Please know, this will reset all settings on the soundbar back to default; any sound adjustments will need to be performed again.
Should you continue to experience audio dropouts, and are connected wirelessly, please use the included cable to connect the soundbar to the TV. Using a wired connection instead of wireless often eliminates the issue entirely and improves the user experience.
I hope these tips help resolve your issues.

Never trust open box and you or need customer supp
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Arrived with nothing except the soundbar and sub speaker. Advertised as excellent and complete. Tried contacting support immediately and couldn't even understand the lady. I am partially hearing impaired however it was not the volume factor so much as the language barrier. I asked if I could speak to someone else in hopes of improved communication and was told "NO" this was my only option. She instructed me to return the item to the store. I explained it would be a long distance over 200 miles round trip on icy roads. She was not acting like she understood what I was trying to tell her and I'm not even close to being able to understand her and became very frustrated. I tried to reach the Billings store in hopes of finding the missing parts and could never get anyone to answer the phone! Long story short the next day we all started getting sick right before Christmas break and priorities changed. Unfortunately I was the last to get hit and instead of trying to take care of everyone else I was down for the count and my return window closed. In all fairness I did continue to try and contact the store and never could get anyone to answer the darn phone. I have since tried to assemble enough parts online to make it functional and have exceeded the DOD new pricing. The sub won't connect and I can't find support for the exact model so without the instruction booklet I've spent far too much time and money trying to get the worthless thing to work. I think it was probably a dud from the start because despite all the quality assurance stickers on the box no one bothered to even make sure it was complete much less functional. I have been a loyal best buy customer for over 20 years but that is about to change.

Posted .Hello technogrannie,
I am sorry to hear about your experience with your purchase from Best Buy. You may want to try the following tips below:
Your soundbar and subwoofer should connect automatically when they are turned on, but you can also connect manually just as easily.
When both soundbar and subwoofer are plugged in, they should begin to connect automatically. When the subwoofer is completely connected, the blue LED LINK indicator on the subwoofer stops blinking and glows continuously. If the blue LED does not stop blinking, the process has failed.
For manual connection, after both soundbar and subwoofer are plugged in to a wall outlet, press and hold the ID SET button on the back of the subwoofer for at least 5 seconds. The red indicator on the rear of the subwoofer turns off and the blue indicator blinks.
Press and hold the Up button on the remote control for at least 5 seconds. The ID SET message appears on the display of the Soundbar for a moment, and then it disappears. The Soundbar will automatically power on when ID SET is complete.
Check if the LINK LED is solid blue (connection complete). The LINK LED indicator stops blinking and glows a solid blue when a connection is established between the Soundbar and the Wireless Subwoofer.

||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This soundbar is absolutely terrible for movie and tv watching. It is incredibly difficult to understand dialogue and when I turn volume up, the background noise overwhelms the rest of the sound. Thank you for taking a few moments to review the Samsung HW-C450 Soundbar.
You can manually optimize your Soundbar by pressing the SOUND MODE button on your remote, and then selecting the desired sound effect by choosing SURROUND SOUND – GAME – ADAPTIVE – DTS VIRTUAL:X – BASS BOOST – STANDARD.
If you would like louder (or softer) bass from your subwoofer, you can adjust the level by rocking the WOOFER button on the soundbar remote, and then adjusting the level from -6 to +6. To set the subwoofer volume level to 0, press the button in.
You can adjust the Treble and Bass by pressing the TONE CONTROL button then use the UP/DOWN buttons to change the levels between -6 to +6.
For precise audio adjustments, you can use the 7-band frequency equalizer to optimize the sound for your room acoustics by pressing and holding the SOUND CONTROL button for about 5 seconds, make sure you also set the SOUND MODE to STANDARD.

Posted .Hello RMos,
Thank you for taking a moment to review the Samsung HW-C450 Soundbar.
The HW-C450 Soundbar does not feature WiFi connectivity and is not able to connect to SmartThings to update.
When an update is available, you can update the Soundbar by connecting the USB drive that contains the update firmware to the SERVICE port of the Soundbar.
1.Go to the Samsung Electronics website (www.samsung.com) → click on the “Support” option in the upper right corner.
2.Click on “Manuals & Software” from the pop-up list > TVs & Home Theater > Home Theater > Select your model
2. Download the firmware file (USB type).
3. Unzip the file to create a folder with the file name.
4. Store the created folder in a USB and then connect it to the Soundbar.
5. A sequence of “UPDATE” > “BYE” > “ON” will appear on the display 3 times. This will take around 6 minutes.
- During update, do not turn it off or remove the USB.
- If “UPDATE” does not appear on the display window, remove the power cord from the Soundbar and then reconnect it.
- When the latest Version is installed, no update is performed.
- Depending on the USB type, update may not be supported.
6. After the 3 cycles are complete, the Soundbar will restart and last source used will appear on the display for about 20 seconds and then it will go off (“UPDATE” > “BYE” > “ON”) 3 times “D.IN” > off

Posted .Hello RodneyS,
We appreciate you taking a moment to review the HW-C450 Soundbar.
Here are some tips to troubleshoot the issue you are having with your subwoofer cutting in and out.
If autoconnection fails, you can manually connect the subwoofer.
Before performing the manual connection procedure below:
• Check whether the power cables for the Soundbar and subwoofer are connected properly.
• Make sure that the Soundbar is turned off.
1. Press and hold ID SET on the rear of the subwoofer for at least 5 seconds.
• The red indicator on the rear of the subwoofer turns off and the blue indicator blinks.
2. Press and hold the Up button on the remote control for at least 5 seconds.
• The ID SET message appears on the display of the Soundbar for a moment, and then it disappears.
• The Soundbar will automatically power on when ID SET is complete.
3. Check if the LINK LED is solid blue (connection complete). The LINK LED indicator stops blinking and glows a solid blue when a connection is established between the Soundbar and the Wireless Subwoofer.
Please note:
• Do not connect the power cord of this product or your TV to a wall outlet until all connections between components are complete.
• Before moving or installing this product, be sure to turn off the power and disconnect the power cord.
• If the main unit is powered off, the wireless subwoofer will go into stand-by mode and the STANDBY LED on the rear of the sub-woofer will turn red after blinking in blue several times.
• If you use a device that uses the same frequency (5.8GHz) as the Soundbar near the Soundbar, interference may cause some sound interruption.
• The maximum transmission distance of the main unit’s wireless signal is about 32.8 ft but may vary depending on your operating environment. If a steel-concrete or metallic wall is between the main unit and the wireless subwoofer, the system may not operate at all because the wireless signal cannot penetrate metal.
• Wireless receiving antennas are built into the wireless subwoofer. Keep the unit away from water and moisture.
• For optimal listening performance, make sure that the area around the wireless subwoofer is clear of any obstructions.

BEST BUY DISAPPOINTMENT

Contacted Customer Service 2x & on both occasions was advised to go to nearest store & obtain cord went to 2 different stores & neither store had the cord. I contacted Customer Service from the store and all they could do was tell me I could return for a refund. Lots of wasted time. Out of Frustration & necessity I purchased the same system at one of the stores....but I will be returning both units within the next week, Best buy has left me with a bad feeling. Will look to purchase a better Samsung system, with less hassle from Amazon.

Posted .Hello PaulY,
Thank you for taking a moment to review the Samsung HW-C450 Soundbar.
I’m very sorry for the difficulties you’ve experienced with your Soundbar’s setup. We completely understand your frustrations, and we are here to help.
The HW-C450 features two ways to connect to a TV; digital optical audio and Bluetooth wireless audio technology. If your TV is compatible with one of these two audio connections, you should have no issue connecting the soundbar to your TV. Follow the steps below to connect the soundbar to your TV via one of the two available connections:
An optical cable is a great way to connect your soundbar to your TV and the method we recommend using for the HW-C450. With optical, you can also connect your devices (cable boxes, video game systems, and Blu-ray players) to the TV, and have the sound output from the TV to the soundbar.
1. With the TV and soundbar turned on, connect one end of a digital optical cable to the OPTICAL OUT port on the TV.
2. Then, connect the other end to the DIGITAL AUDIO IN (OPTICAL) port on the soundbar.
3. Press Source on the remote or soundbar, and then set the soundbar to the D.IN. setting.
4. Finally, on the TV, you need to set the speaker output to external speakers.
The TV's sound will now play from the soundbar.
Your soundbar is also compatible with a Bluetooth connection to the TV. To connect the soundbar wirelessly, follow the steps below:
1) Press the PAIR button on the remote to enter BT PAIRING mode. You can also press the SOURCE button on the top panel and then select BT. “BT” changes to “BT PAIRING” in a few seconds automatically or changes to “BT READY” if there is a connect record. If BT READY appears, press and hold the SOURCE button on the top panel of the Soundbar for more than 5 seconds to display BT PAIRING.
2) Select the Bluetooth sound mode on your TV (See your TV's user manual for assistance)
3) Select “[AV] Samsung Soundbar Series” from the list on the TV’s screen. An available Soundbar is indicated with “Need Pairing” or “Paired” on the TV’s Bluetooth device list. To connect the TV to the Soundbar, select the message, and then establish a connection.
When the TV is connected, [TV Name] → “BT” appears on the Soundbar’s front display.
You should now hear TV sound from the Soundbar. Once you have connected your soundbar for the first time, use the “BT READY” mode to reconnect.

For precise audio adjustments, you can use the 7-band frequency equalizer to optimize the sound for your room acoustics by pressing and holding the SOUND CONTROL button for about 5 seconds, make sure you also set the SOUND MODE to STANDARD.

Posted .Hi Nkayor,
Thank you for taking a moment to provide feedback regarding your experience with the HW-C450 Soundbar.
When you turn the power on after connecting the power cables to the Soundbar and subwoofer, the subwoofer is automatically connected to the Soundbar. When auto pairing is complete, the blue indicators at the rear of the subwoofer turn on.
If the auto connection fails, you can manually connect the subwoofer.
• For optimal listening performance, make sure that the area around the wireless subwoofer and the Wireless Receiver Module (sold separately) is clear of any obstructions.
