Customers are saying

Customers appreciate the HW-C450 soundbar's excellent sound quality, encompassing both the crisp audio and strong bass response. Many found it easy to set up and use, with positive feedback on its Bluetooth connectivity and compact size. However, some users noted the lack of an HDMI port as a drawback, and experienced inconsistencies with the remote control functionality. Overall, the positive comments on sound and ease of use outweigh the negative feedback on these minor issues.

We hooked up the system with the optical cord. Not difficult, however, the sound disconnects. Will try a HDMI Arc cord to see if this will solve the issue. Final Review remains TBD!

      Hello wiggybaby99,

I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing issues with the sound occasionally dropping from your soundbar when using optical cord. You may first want to double check the cable connection of the soundbar to the TV or external device to ensure it is secure, and properly connected to the correct port.

In addition to checking the connections of the soundbar, please make sure your soundbar is using the latest firmware version. Updating the firmware on your soundbar gives you all the benefits of the latest improvements. You can update your firmware by using a USB device.

You may also want to initialize your soundbar by pressing the - and + (volume) buttons on the side of the soundbar at the same time for at least 5 seconds. “INIT OK” appears on the display and then the Soundbar is reset. Please know, this will reset all settings on the soundbar back to default; any sound adjustments will need to be performed again.

Your soundbar is also compatible with a Bluetooth connection to the TV. To connect the soundbar wirelessly, follow the steps below:

      1) Press the PAIR button on the remote to enter BT PAIRING mode. You can also press the SOURCE button on the top panel and then select BT. “BT” changes to “BT PAIRING” in a few seconds automatically or changes to “BT READY” if there is a connect record. If BT READY appears, press and hold the SOURCE button on the top panel of the Soundbar for more than 5 seconds to display BT PAIRING.
      2) Select the Bluetooth sound mode on your TV (See your TV's user manual for assistance)
      3) Select “[AV] Samsung Soundbar A470 Series” from the list on the TV’s screen. An available Soundbar is indicated with “Need Pairing” or “Paired” on the TV’s Bluetooth device list. To connect the TV to the Soundbar, select the message, and then establish a connection.
When the TV is connected, [TV Name] → “BT” appears on the Soundbar’s front display.

You should now hear TV sound from the Soundbar. Once you have connected your soundbar for the first time, use the “BT READY” mode to reconnect.

bought this product be the sales agent said it was a good sounds system to buy for a small room. which his wasn't wrong. subwoofer sounds great and the sound bar is decent in it own way. Especially for a small sound bar. The problem came after installing the system. When I connected my system I couldn't tell it the system was ON or OFF no light to indicate whether its on or off. Sometime when I turn on my Tv the sound doesn't turn on. Unlike my old sound bar. when that happens I have to unplug the sound bar and plug it back it back in just to get it to work. control gives you options to change the setting but it will not show up on the tv. you have to click around until you find the sounds you like . possible theory it won't work well if other brand of tvs unless it a Samsung

      Hi Winchester21,

We appreciate you taking a moment to review Samsung's HW-C450 Soundbar.

If your soundbar and Samsung TV are connected by an optical cable, Auto Power Link will turn your soundbar on automatically when you turn on the TV. If you have the soundbar connected with an HDMI cable to the Samsung TV, Anynet+ will turn the soundbar on automatically. No need to reach for the soundbar remote every time you want to watch TV!

To use Auto Power Link, follow the steps below:

      1) Connect your soundbar to your TV with an optical cable.
      2) Set the soundbar to D.IN mode by pressing Source on the remote or soundbar.
      3) Press and hold the left direction on the direction pad on the remote for more than 5 seconds or until Auto Power Link appears on the soundbar display to activate or deactivate Auto Power Link.

No volume control with optical input

The only audio input is an optical cable which means you can’t use your TV remote or Apple tv remote to control audio on the soundbar. I dont want to have to use two seprate remotes to operate my entertainment setup. The soundbar doesn't automatically power off when there's no input so you can stay connected via Bluetooth indefinitely thereby controlling the volume with your TV remote. However, you're out of luck if your gaming console isn't Bluetooth compatible. I will be exchanging the soundbar for one with an HDMI eARC and/or RCA cable ports for single remote volume control.

      Hello,

Thank you for purchasing the HW-C450 Soundbar, I am sorry to see that there might have been some confusion on how to setup a TV remote to control your Soundbar.

The HW-C450 Soundbar does have the ability to be controlled by a TV remote using a Digital Optical Cable. If you not exchanged your Soundbar, please follow the instructions below.

      1) Use the TV remote to navigate to Settings, select Sound, and then select Sound Output on your TV.
      2) Select your Samsung soundbar, and then select Close. Now you can use your TV remote to adjust volume and mute the soundbar. The soundbar should also turn on and off with the TV.

Other manufacturers’ remotes may have to be enabled on your soundbar. First, turn Off the Soundbar. Once powered off, push up and hold the WOOFER button for 5 seconds. Each time you push the WOOFER button up and hold it for 5 seconds, the mode switches in the following order: “OFF-TV REMOTE” (Default mode), “SAMSUNG-TV REMOTE”, “ALL-TV REMOTE”. Please also make sure your speaker settings on the TV are set to External Speaker.

If you’d like more help with settings, please know we’re here to help! Call us at 1-800-SAMSUNG (Ask for Soundbars), 8AM - 12AM EST, 7 days a week. Or visit us on the Samsung website and click on the ‘Support’ link for:

      Hi Veracious,

Thank you for taking a moment to review the Samsung HW-C450 Soundbar.

You can manually optimize your Soundbar by pressing the SOUND MODE button on your remote, and then selecting the desired sound effect by choosing SURROUND SOUND – GAME – ADAPTIVE – DTS VIRTUAL:X – BASS BOOST – STANDARD.

If you would like louder (or softer) bass from your subwoofer, you can adjust the level by rocking the WOOFER button on the soundbar remote, and then adjusting the level from -6 to +6. To set the subwoofer volume level to 0, press the button in.

You can adjust the Treble and Bass by pressing the TONE CONTROL button then use the UP/DOWN buttons to change the levels between -6 to +6.

For precise audio adjustments, you can use the 7-band frequency equalizer to optimize the sound for your room acoustics by pressing and holding the SOUND CONTROL button for about 5 seconds, make sure you also set the SOUND MODE to STANDARD.

I hope this tip helps improve your enjoyment. For more help, please call us at 1-800-SAMSUNG (Ask for Soundbars), 8 AM – 12 AM EST, 7 days a week. Live Chat with an agent as well as manuals, software, and warranty info can be found at the ‘Support’ link on our Samsung website.

When powered on for the first time, the subwoofer should automatically connect to the soundbar wirelessly. If the auto-connection process fails, you can try manually connecting the sub to the soundbar.

Before performing the manual connection procedure, check whether the power cables for the Soundbar and subwoofer are connected properly and make sure that the Soundbar is turned off.

Press and hold ID SET on the rear of the subwoofer for at least 5 seconds. The red indicator on the rear of the subwoofer turns off and the blue indicator blinks. Press and hold the Up button on the remote control for at least 5 seconds. The ID SET message appears on the display of the Soundbar for a moment, and then it disappears. The Soundbar will automatically power on when ID SET is complete. The LINK LED indicator stops blinking and glows a solid blue when a connection is established between the Soundbar and the Wireless Subwoofer.

      Hello MaryM,

There are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot your HW-C450 Samsung Soundbar.

First, you will want to download the latest software for your Soundbar. You can download the firmware directly from Samsung’s website by clicking “Support” in the top right corner. Then go to “Manuals & Software” > “TVs & Home Theater” > “Home Theater” > “Sound Bars”. From there, you can select the HW-C450 under Standard.

Download the update and install it via USB thumb stick to your soundbar. If you need additional help, there are how-to instructions on this page. Please know that Samsung Customer Service is here to assist as well.

Next, try doing a soft reset, unplug the soundbar from the outlet for roughly 30 seconds and then plug it back in.

If this still does not correct your issue, then do a hard reset. With the Soundbar on, press the + & - Volume buttons on the body of the soundbar at the same time for at least 5 seconds. INIT OK” appears on the display and then the Soundbar is reset.
