Loud, Moving, Nice 2nd Sub for home theater

Great subwoofer for price. I got this on open box and while it's not the cleanest sounding bass it sure does provide a great punch. By clean I am talking about the low range the sub can provide. There are some other pricier subs that have a wider range but again that's what you are paying for. I only wish Sonance made a downward-firing sub and the sound would seem more natural than forced. I purchased this to have 2 subs in my home audio room for more balanced bass throughout.

This is a great sounding subwoofer, the bass is extremely rich. I got it in sale for 400$ and took a chance on it and I'm glad I did. I couldn't find a review anywhere on this particular one, I have it hooked up to a Onkyo AV receiver with LFE on paired with some Polk towers and double bass on which makes it sound like a much bigger sub. I was worried that it was too small for the room but this little thing fills the room just fine.

Like the size of the subwoofer box. Doesn't take up a lot space in my living room. Yet has enough power to fill the room.

I bought this speaker to complete my new surround system. In the past I have always used Polk speakers. This Sonance subwoofer sounds great. It looks great too. The finish on the cabinet looks high end. It has a lot of power for its size and is not bulky. It fit nicely into a small space.

Decided to add a second unit to my basement theater. I now use as stands for my other front speakers; basically making a pair of tower speakers. Sound is great. Compact size yet solid bass. In both cases purchased when on sale.

Outstanding unit. Like the fact the dimensions are smaller than other units I looked at. Super unit. Couldn't be happier with everything about it.

The Sonance subwoofer is small but mighty. The sound is clean and it works well with our other stereo components.

Check out all the specs in the product description. I won't reiterate that here. As for the sub, it's a smaller compact sub and is front firing. It has a good response and some tuning ability. I tested with both LFE/Main configuration pairing up to Bi-AMP'd RTIA9 fronts. It was able to match up fairly well at crossover points and picked up with no gaps. It has the base settings for input/phase/crossover but all are on a rotary twist pot. And it's all a guesstimate so have that SPL meter to dial it in. At the price point, I would consider it a lower level sub in terms of features but it proves to be a solid amp with little clipping. So if you are rocking a mid to higher-end system you may find some slight issues otherwise it has a solid build structure and the normal function. Final Review - Good sub if on sale, otherwise at current 499 MSRP I would audition other subs in this category. Again solid amp just lacks tuning/features.

    Powerful Compact Sub

I can’t really think of any downsides of this product. It’s compact, has a removable grille, removable feet, and all the inputs and control knobs I’d expect for a quality subwoofer. Sound quality is superb. I have it paired to a Sonos amp and mid-range bookshelf speakers. While the bookshelf speakers have some pretty decent sized woofers, adding this guy to the mix immediately made a difference. You’re getting a good sized 10” woofer that can handle 275W of continuous power. That’s more than my amp can push to the speakers so I had to play a few good bass heavy samples (always fun with a new sub) to get the volume and crossover set so that the bass the sub produced was not too overpowering and meshed well with the rest of the system. Kudos to the owner’s manual, it’s well written and explains how to properly adjust the sub with the volume, crossover, and phase shift if you’re unfamiliar with setup. It even explains how its placement relative to walls will affect the sound. Sonance typically sells to professional installers, and not to end users directly. These guys put their reputation on the line every time they recommend and install a product, so even if you’ve never of Sonance you can rest assured this is a trustworthy brand. Of course, when it comes to sound components, the sky is the limit. For example, my home theater room has a much larger and more expensive sub but it would not fit in most living rooms and definitely overpower most setups. So no, this is not the absolute best sub money can buy, but in this price range it is really good, and better than the more well-known brand’s 10” subs that I’ve owned in the past. Overall, I’m very happy with it for my Sonos based listening room!

I've only owned a couple powered subs for my home theater system over the years. My current sub, a Polk PSW505 12", sounds very good and gets low, but after switching over to the Sonance, it sounds "boomy" and loose. The Sonance has a tighter more accurate sound. It also has a "fuller" sound compared to the Polk. This may be because it has a broader frequency range then the Polk according to the specs. I was quite surprised and pleased with how amazing the Sonance sounds considering how compact it is. You can practically put this sub anywhere. Both subs were tested using the LFE input, and both set to about 2/3rds gain/volume on the sub itself. Both have practically identical power wattage outputs. I sampled different genres of music and certain high action parts of Top Gun and The Matrix. Now I have to figure out what to do with my old sub. Most likely I'll just run both of them. Best of both worlds. I highly recommend this powered subwoofer.

    Good for small rooms

This is a very compact subwoofer. It is good for smaller rooms, like a bedroom or office. It doesn't have enough power to fill a larger room, and when pushed to high volumes its sonic limitations become clear. It plays fairly deep, I would estimate it has usable output down to about 35 Hz in a small room when properly placed. But at loud volumes first the bass becomes compressed, and then beyond that you can hear the woofer cone reach the limits of its physical travel. It's a step up in sound quality from other 10" subwoofers that cost less than $250. I can think of at least two other subwoofers in this same price class that can sonically outperform this one, however they are physically at least 4 times larger so won't really work in places where this one will. Another thing to consider with any subwoofer is that the sound from them is VERY dependent upon room placement and setup. Take your time adjusting the controls and finding a location that works the best. I use 2 subwoofers in my system because the size and shape of my room makes it impossible to get uniform bass response using only 1. With 1 subwoofer, there are areas of my room where the bass is overwhelming, and other areas where there is virtually no bass at all. Using 2 subwoofers allows me to arrange and adjust them to provide even bass response throughout most of the room. Plan to spend an hour or two or more tweaking for the best sound.

    Tiny sub with oversized sound.

Great small sub, it really punches better than 12" subs that have double the size cabinet. Case in point, my old powered subwoofer was a JBL ES-250, it sounds OK for its price point, but now this new sub was a couple hundred more than the larger JBL. Factoring in the inflation over last 10 years, this sub is an incredible bargain at the $399 price point! I would like to add two things: 1) product came with a grounded AEC power cord, very good for ensuring no audible ground humming when speakers idle. 2) shipping time was only 2 days, even though we were given a 9-day due date. Ordered on a Monday, came UPS to my door on Wednesday at 1:30 pm. Talk about instant gratification... In conclusion, this appears to be a discontinued model, I suggest buying two of your room is very large!
