The Sonance MS10SUB Mag Series 10" Powered Cabinet Subwoofer delivers impressive performance for its price, making it an excellent choice for those seeking quality sound without breaking the bank. With a 275W peak power output, it offers a deep and punchy bass response that enhances movie and music experiences alike. The 10-inch driver ensures a good balance of low-end depth while maintaining clarity, and the built-in amplifier helps maximize efficiency and performance.
The build quality is solid, and the sleek black finish allows it to seamlessly blend into most home theater setups. While it's not the absolute most powerful subwoofer on the market, its performance is more than sufficient for most home audio enthusiasts, especially in smaller to medium-sized rooms.
If you're looking for a subwoofer that offers excellent value for the price, the Sonance MS10SUB is a smart option, delivering great bass, good overall sound quality, and reliable performance without the premium price tag of high-end models.

I'm really enjoying this little subwoofer. Don't be fooled by it's compact size. It packs plenty of power. I had a bigger one before vibrated and caused a lot of external noise, but not the Sonance. It's solid and tight, no unwanted noise or vibrating other objects in the room, just nice tight, adjustable base. You'll love it.

I listen to a lot of music and needed an upgrade from my 300w Logitech speakers/sub combo. My house is pretty small and I paired this sub with the klipsch speakers pictured and it sounds amazing for the price (I got it on sale for like $300). Shakes the whole house if I turn it up. Sounds great in movies too. Had it for about 7 months now and so far I have no complaints.

While I would normally purchase a subwoofer based on sound quality and performance, the selection of the Sonance MS10SUB was driven by the need to fit the subwoofer into a cabinet with a relatively small vertical clearance space of 13".
I'm please that the Best Buy specifications include the exterior dimensions so I was able to quickly identify those subwoofers that would work in my cabinet. Of the limited number I identified, the Sonance seemed to be the best based on the reviews.
Let me say that this subwoofer exceeds my expectations! The bass is "tight" and isn't "mushy" when playing heavy bass parts. It's perfect for the genres of music I enjoy - rock, jazz and classical. It is a nice complement to my JBL MA310 receiver and KEF Q150 speakers. Hands down, this outperforms my previous 12' subwoofer. I strongly recommend this subwoofer.

REMEMBER, WHERE YOU PLACE YOUR SUB WOOFER WILL DICTATE 75-80% of performance. For me, From wall behind couch to wall where subwoofer is in front is about 15 feet, not exactly open floor plan but not enclosed either. Sounds good. Bass is deep. Like, way better than sound bar deep. I’m impressed. Price to performance value is great. If I could, I’d get another. Luckily it sounds fascinating right in front of listening area. See picture.

Love it. Front pushing so better impact. Deep and heavy. I had compared it with the similarly priced Martin Logan Subwoofer in the Magnolia section. This is far superior…I have it set up with B&W speakers and am really happy. My understanding is that Sonance was primarily focused on commercial systems but is now entering residential space too.

About the Sub
The Sonance MS10SUB is a 10” front firing cabinet subwoofer. It’s about 1 cubic foot in size, and has a matte black finish. The polypropylene cone has a rubber surround and the woofer is covered by a black cloth screen. The rear panel of the sub requires a 1” minimum clearance for ventilation.
How I Tested It
I focused on using a variety of music to test the subwoofer. 10” subwoofers are typically flexible and can produce punchy accurate bass hits as well as rolling bass, so I picked a wide variety of music that would demonstrate this. The music genres included rap, R&B, rock, pop, country, jazz, and reggae. I tested at different volumes and changed the settings of the subwoofer to try to find the sound that I was looking for.
Sound Results
After testing the subwoofer for a while I found its sound to be fairly average. I wasn’t entirely disappointed, but I wasn’t really wowed either. It did well with rolling base, but suffered with the punchy bass, especially at higher volumes. As with many 10” woofers, it struggled to hit and maintain at the lowest frequencies. This is fairly typical with a 10”, so if you’re looking for really low lows, then you may want a 12” or larger. In some songs the bass got a little lost. It seemed to sound better and stay more controlled at lower volume levels.
I did adjust the settings to tune the sub to the best sound that it could offer. On the back panel there is a volume, crossover, and phasing control knob. For my taste, I preferred the phasing to be set at 180 and the crossover to be placed near 95HZ. The crossover goes up to 200HZ, but this allowed a lot of extra noise so I adjusted it to play 95HZ and below.
Here is a quick list of Pros and Cons for the MS10SUB.
Pros
*Small compact design
*Good rolling bass production
*Included typical control settings
*Has a ground lift that can help eliminate noise in the speaker
Cons
*Average sounding speaker
*Punchy bass was not clean at higher volumes
*Lower bass frequencies distorted
*I took the grill off to see the speaker and now the grill is loose.
*The price point for this sub
I’m giving the Sonance MS10SUB 3 stars. It seems to be an average subwoofer with a lot of competition at its price point. I like the smaller footprint, but the quality of the bass suffers, especially at higher volumes. Sound quality is always dependent on the ear of the listener so I recommend listening to a few subwoofers in the price range and see which one moves you.

Sleek and great sounding sub

First of all, and most importantly, this sub sounds excellent at all volume levels, For most, that's probably all you need to know. :) It's sleek finish looks great, and will accentuate most setups. I added this sub to my current 7.1.4 setup. It easily fills the room with deep, clear bass. I'm very impressed with how nice it sounds. I threw plenty of different media types at it as well, from different devices. I tried live TV (from a cable box), Xbox One X (streaming Netflix, Games and Blu Rays) and PS4 Pro. The bass remained very clear and was consistently excellent. Again, very happy with this sub.
Pros: Excellent sound, easy to set up, very elegantly designed
Cons: Doesn't include a sub cable (that's just a nitpick), it's difficult to find really anything I didn't like about this sub.

Large Boom from this 10" package

Sonace is mostly known for in wall speakers. Having an external enclosed subwoofer seems a bit of a new venture for them. With the name “Magnolia” I have to assume this may be a new partnership with Best Buy and Sonace.
The Magnolia 10” 275 watt subwoofer is an all black enclosure with a very minimalistic look. The removable mesh woofer cover has a small, shiny black Sonace logo, Other than that, this subwoofer just sits on the floor and isn’t noticed until it booms. I absolutely love the simplistic, minimal look. It is also an extremely solid and well made enclosure. It feels of high quality.
Setup
Setup is rather simple, I plugged a subwoofer cable from the left LFE into the port on my receiver. I do not have the ability to connect 2 cables so I opted for just the single cable. I ran a sound test and adjusted the volume level, crossover, and phase to match my other speakers. The dials are simple to move and I quickly was able to match the tone of my other speakers.
Sound
This subwoofer offers nice base and has a very clean sound. Large explosions or bass heavy music really pop with the power of this 275 watt woofer. The bass is deep and vibrates the floor in a nice atmospheric way. Getting the crossover setting correct, the bass never overpowered the rest of the sound stage and kept in line with the entire environment. It tightened when necessary but vocals and other midrange audio the bass was minimal and simply enhanced the overall audio track.
Final Thoughts
I am very impressed with what Sonace has done with this subwoofer. I enjoy the sound levels it brings to the table and will be making this the primary subwoofer in my surround sound setup. I am excited to see if Sonace produced some other external speakers and comes up with more out of wall units I can check out. If this Magnolia line is indeed a Best Buy partnership, I think this is a win for Best Buy. If the name is strictly a coincidence, so be it, still a great sub and I’m glad to see it on Best Buy’s shelves.

A phenomenal upgrade from my previous 10" sub

For the past few years I had been contemplating upgrading to a better sub than the one that came with my HTIB from about 4-5 years ago. There certainly wasn't anything wrong with it other than it just lacked the oomph that I really wanted in movies and games. A lot of the issues it had were due to it's being underpowered (100W vs this 275W).
I decided to give the Sonance a shot after a bit of research. I liked the customization that it offered over my old sub and I had a feeling that it would deliver the sound I wanted without being "too big" since I don't have a dedicated home theater room/setup.
WOW. It would seem that I made a good choice because this thing is AMAZING. I actually didn't realize just how much my previous sub was letting me down until I plugged this thing in. For fun, I decided to leave my old sub plugged in and simply switch the input to each sub while watching a movie. There was literally no comparison. The Sonance just absolutely obliterated my old sub in every single way.
After some initial tuning to match it up with my other speakers and some adjustments on the receiver, bass is delivered more cleanly and with more punch and breadth across the entire frequency range. Particularly in the lower 20-80Hz range where you get that deep rumbling sound. Previously, the only way I could get that effect with my old sub was to turn the system volume way down and turn the bass volume on the sub itself up much higher. Obviously, I'm not going to do that every time.
The one feature that I've absolutely enjoyed tremendously (outside of the sound of course) has been this sub's ability to turn on or off by itself by detecting whether or not my receiver was on. My old sub did not have this ability. Moreover, and this was VERY surprising to me, it apparently knows when I'm wearing headphones while playing games late at night and will still turn itself off even though my receiver remains on since my PS4 is run to the receiver and then to the TV. That's AWESOME.
I certainly am very happy that I choose this sub from Sonance. I've already started pulling out a lot of old movies and watching them over again. It is THAT GOOD.

Great subwoofer for price. I got this on open box and while it's not the cleanest sounding bass it sure does provide a great punch. By clean I am talking about the low range the sub can provide. There are some other pricier subs that have a wider range but again that's what you are paying for. I only wish Sonance made a downward-firing sub and the sound would seem more natural than forced. I purchased this to have 2 subs in my home audio room for more balanced bass throughout.
