A phenomenal upgrade from my previous 10" sub
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For the past few years I had been contemplating upgrading to a better sub than the one that came with my HTIB from about 4-5 years ago. There certainly wasn't anything wrong with it other than it just lacked the oomph that I really wanted in movies and games. A lot of the issues it had were due to it's being underpowered (100W vs this 275W). I decided to give the Sonance a shot after a bit of research. I liked the customization that it offered over my old sub and I had a feeling that it would deliver the sound I wanted without being "too big" since I don't have a dedicated home theater room/setup. WOW. It would seem that I made a good choice because this thing is AMAZING. I actually didn't realize just how much my previous sub was letting me down until I plugged this thing in. For fun, I decided to leave my old sub plugged in and simply switch the input to each sub while watching a movie. There was literally no comparison. The Sonance just absolutely obliterated my old sub in every single way. After some initial tuning to match it up with my other speakers and some adjustments on the receiver, bass is delivered more cleanly and with more punch and breadth across the entire frequency range. Particularly in the lower 20-80Hz range where you get that deep rumbling sound. Previously, the only way I could get that effect with my old sub was to turn the system volume way down and turn the bass volume on the sub itself up much higher. Obviously, I'm not going to do that every time. The one feature that I've absolutely enjoyed tremendously (outside of the sound of course) has been this sub's ability to turn on or off by itself by detecting whether or not my receiver was on. My old sub did not have this ability. Moreover, and this was VERY surprising to me, it apparently knows when I'm wearing headphones while playing games late at night and will still turn itself off even though my receiver remains on since my PS4 is run to the receiver and then to the TV. That's AWESOME. I certainly am very happy that I choose this sub from Sonance. I've already started pulling out a lot of old movies and watching them over again. It is THAT GOOD.

Great sounding little sub.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great sounding subwoofer, the bass is extremely rich. I got it in sale for 400$ and took a chance on it and I'm glad I did. I couldn't find a review anywhere on this particular one, I have it hooked up to a Onkyo AV receiver with LFE on paired with some Polk towers and double bass on which makes it sound like a much bigger sub. I was worried that it was too small for the room but this little thing fills the room just fine.

A great little sub
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was looking at $1000 subwoofers when i saw this one. I listened to it for several songs and decided that price vs performance this sub was very good. Yeah no parametric equalizers and other esoteric features but i wanted a good sounding sub and this was it. I saved nearly $500 by buying this sub over other worthy opponents. Solid sub with all necessary features. Buy this with confidence.

Sonance- Mag Series 10"
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this speaker to complete my new surround system. In the past I have always used Polk speakers. This Sonance subwoofer sounds great. It looks great too. The finish on the cabinet looks high end. It has a lot of power for its size and is not bulky. It fit nicely into a small space.

Second unit for theater
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Decided to add a second unit to my basement theater. I now use as stands for my other front speakers; basically making a pair of tower speakers. Sound is great. Compact size yet solid bass. In both cases purchased when on sale.

I like the depth.
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Okay! Please break them in with all the different settings. I use a Sony STR-ZA810ES, Paradigm center, Definitive Technology SR-9040 for back, and Andrew Jones Pioneer's for Atmos. Thank's Bestbuy on that deal. I use an Xbox 1 X, that includes all codecs. I use an HP Phoenix running dual 4k with Atmos, and some times, I use my Hi-Res Audio Sony 4k HDR Blu-ray player. All sources are compaitible with HDR-10, Dolby, and one is 3D. I would start with all settings in NUETRAL. Turn all knobs to the left. I placed Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Men Tell No Tales, in 4k in my Xbox 1 X, with Dolby Atmos. Turn the lst Knob to the right until you feel a nice rumble then stop. Turn up the system and wait about 10 min. Then I used my Sony HI- RES, and played Bleach Hell-Verse. Turn the bottom knob to the right until it sounds crisp. Leave that on for ten. Then for the entire movie please use Blade Runner 2049 HDR. Turn all knobes left and enjoy.

Powerful Compact Sub
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I can’t really think of any downsides of this product. It’s compact, has a removable grille, removable feet, and all the inputs and control knobs I’d expect for a quality subwoofer. Sound quality is superb. I have it paired to a Sonos amp and mid-range bookshelf speakers. While the bookshelf speakers have some pretty decent sized woofers, adding this guy to the mix immediately made a difference. You’re getting a good sized 10” woofer that can handle 275W of continuous power. That’s more than my amp can push to the speakers so I had to play a few good bass heavy samples (always fun with a new sub) to get the volume and crossover set so that the bass the sub produced was not too overpowering and meshed well with the rest of the system. Kudos to the owner’s manual, it’s well written and explains how to properly adjust the sub with the volume, crossover, and phase shift if you’re unfamiliar with setup. It even explains how its placement relative to walls will affect the sound. Sonance typically sells to professional installers, and not to end users directly. These guys put their reputation on the line every time they recommend and install a product, so even if you’ve never of Sonance you can rest assured this is a trustworthy brand. Of course, when it comes to sound components, the sky is the limit. For example, my home theater room has a much larger and more expensive sub but it would not fit in most living rooms and definitely overpower most setups. So no, this is not the absolute best sub money can buy, but in this price range it is really good, and better than the more well-known brand’s 10” subs that I’ve owned in the past. Overall, I’m very happy with it for my Sonos based listening room!

Wow!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've only owned a couple powered subs for my home theater system over the years. My current sub, a Polk PSW505 12", sounds very good and gets low, but after switching over to the Sonance, it sounds "boomy" and loose. The Sonance has a tighter more accurate sound. It also has a "fuller" sound compared to the Polk. This may be because it has a broader frequency range then the Polk according to the specs. I was quite surprised and pleased with how amazing the Sonance sounds considering how compact it is. You can practically put this sub anywhere. Both subs were tested using the LFE input, and both set to about 2/3rds gain/volume on the sub itself. Both have practically identical power wattage outputs. I sampled different genres of music and certain high action parts of Top Gun and The Matrix. Now I have to figure out what to do with my old sub. Most likely I'll just run both of them. Best of both worlds. I highly recommend this powered subwoofer.
