I purchased the Bravia 7 (55") for my bar and it's perfect. The sound and picture quality at off center viewing angles are very good for a TV at this price point. The picture brightness begins to reduce slightly when viewing from angles of 60 degrees or more. I am happy with this purchase.

Solid— but the viewing angle is a real thing. It didn’t seem like there was any quality loss in the store, but it was definitely noticeable when I brought it home, now a month later I don’t really notice it. Definitely a good TV across the board otherwise.

Thank you for sharing your feedback and for your positive comments about the overall performance of your K55XR70, NickyB. We understand your observations about the viewing angle. The perception of picture quality can sometimes change depending on the viewing environment at home compared to the store. It’s common for some users to notice differences in viewing angle performance, especially when sitting off to the side. However, as you experienced, many viewers find any initial concerns fade with regular use as they adjust to their typical viewing position and environment.

For the best experience, we recommend watching your TV from a suitable distance—about 1.5 times the screen’s height for 4K models like the K55XR70—and minimizing any strong ambient lighting, which can impact perceived picture quality at wider angles. Rotating your seating position or occasionally changing your viewing angle can also help optimize your enjoyment. We're glad to hear the K55XR70 continues to meet your expectations overall, and we appreciate you taking the time to share your detailed impressions.

      Thanks for considering Sony!

My primary use for this TV is gaming with Xbox and PlayStation consoles. So far I'm very pleased with the results. The holiday sale price is much more acceptable than the launch price. Positives + Great picture quality when sitting in sweet spot (I adjusted various picture settings, such as disabling automatic dimming and power management) + Bright + Accurate color out of the box + Supports all major audio and HDR formats + Good amount of preset picture options that can be adjusted per input + Attractive design with good build quality + I use Apple TV 4K device for apps but the built-in Google TV interface works well Negatives - Off angle viewing is poor (blooming / faded picture) - Only 2 HDMI ports are 4K 120Hz, with one of them being eARC - Screen is more reflective than most other TVs

I tried a Sony OLED and an LG OLED but send them both back because, although both were very good at hdr, neither of them were very good at processing normal HD 1080p streams. This TV does Dolby vision and HDR pretty much at exactly the same incredible quality as an OLED, but it has the added advantage of also making SDR HD streams also look amazing. Gaming on this TV is also extremely impressive. The overall color accuracy, uniformity and general excellence of the picture is superior to an OLED in my opinion, and it's much more versatile

Pros: Google TV is one of the better OS for TVs. Great local dimming. Great uniformity. Awesome brightness. Fixed auto game mode from previous gen. More options to modify game mode settings. 4k120 works perfect with my PC. Cons: Price, why pay 1899 for a mini led when you can get a QD-OLED for the same price or cheaper. Picture just looks flat in SDR and HDR looks cloudy compared to my S95B. Overall the tv is really good. The picture is very good for a mini led with some great improvements in the local dimming but it gets over shadow by the price. Go with a 55 LG G3 or a Samsung S90D.

    A Stellar Mini LED Surprise

Sony 55-Inch Bravia 7 Review: A Stellar Mini LED Surprise After experiencing burn-in issues with my previous LG OLED TV, I decided to switch to the Sony 55-inch Bravia 7, a Mini LED TV. I was initially concerned that the black levels and potential dirty screen effect would fall short of OLED standards, but I was pleasantly surprised by the Bravia 7’s exceptional performance. This TV has proven to be a remarkable replacement, delivering outstanding picture quality and a host of features that make it a standout choice for home entertainment. - Exceptional Black Levels and Contrast One of my biggest worries transitioning from an OLED to a Mini LED TV was whether the black levels could hold up. The Bravia 7, powered by Sony’s XR Backlight Master Drive technology and advanced local dimming, delivers startlingly deep and convincing blacks that rival OLED in many scenarios. Whether I’m watching dark scenes in movies or playing high-contrast games, the blacks remain inky and uniform, with minimal blooming around bright objects. The TV’s ability to maintain deep blacks alongside vibrant highlights in mixed-brightness scenes creates a dynamic and immersive viewing experience. This level of contrast consistency is rare for a mid-range TV and has made every viewing session a delight. - No Dirty Screen Effect Coming from an OLED, I was also concerned about the dirty screen effect, which can plague some LED-based TVs. To my relief, the Bravia 7’s panel is remarkably clean, with no noticeable clouding or uneven patches. Whether I’m watching sports, scrolling through menus, or viewing bright landscapes, the screen remains uniform and pristine. This attention to panel quality has alleviated any fears I had about transitioning from OLED, ensuring a flawless picture across all types of content. - Vibrant Colors and Sharp Processing The Bravia 7’s Quantum Dot color system, paired with Sony’s Triluminos technology and the latest XR processor, produces vibrant and lifelike colors that pop off the screen. From the lush greens of nature documentaries to the rich hues of animated films, the color accuracy is superb, making every scene feel vivid and true-to-life. The XR processor also enhances detail, upscaling lower-resolution content with remarkable clarity and minimizing artifacts. Watching older shows or streaming from platforms like Netflix feels almost like watching native 4K, thanks to Sony’s top-tier processing. - Impressive Brightness for Any Room Unlike my previous OLED, which sometimes struggled in brighter environments, the Bravia 7 shines in both dimly lit and well-lit rooms. Its Mini LED backlight delivers impressive brightness, making HDR content stand out with dazzling highlights. Whether I’m watching during the day with sunlight streaming in or at night in a dark room, the Bravia 7 adapts effortlessly, maintaining clarity and punch. This versatility has made it a perfect fit for my living room, where lighting conditions vary throughout the day. - Seamless Smart Features and Gaming The Google TV interface on the Bravia 7 is intuitive and packed with apps, making streaming a breeze. I particularly appreciate the calibrated modes for Netflix, Prime Video, and Sony Pictures Core, which ensure content looks as the creators intended. For gaming, the TV supports HDMI 2.1, 4K at 120Hz, and Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), delivering smooth and responsive gameplay on my PS5. The low input lag and crisp motion handling have elevated my gaming sessions, making fast-paced titles look and feel incredible. - A Worthy OLED Replacement Switching from an OLED to the Sony 55-inch Bravia 7 was a leap of faith, but it’s one I’m thrilled to have taken. The TV’s exceptional black levels, clean panel, vibrant colors, and robust brightness have exceeded my expectations, proving that Mini LED can compete with OLED in all the ways that matter. Add to that its smart features, gaming prowess, and elegant design, and the Bravia 7 is a fantastic choice for anyone seeking a high-performance TV without the risk of burn-in. I’m genuinely impressed and highly satisfied with this purchase—it’s a mid-range marvel that feels like a premium upgrade.

Great picture quality out of the box. The TV came in a well-protected box. It was easy to unbox and install the screwless stands. I liked the fact that the stands had a wider width and height adjustment option allowing the soundbar to be laid in front of the TV without blocking the screen. It does need two people to lift the TV and place it on a TV stand. The TV build quality is very good. The TV setup was easy as soon as it was powered on and connected to Wi-Fi. It went through a software update in the beginning. The Google TV menu layout was easy to navigate. I noticed that I had to find specific type of content playing to fine tune the picture settings for it. For example, to adjust HDR picture settings, I had to play HDR content. The picture is pretty bright with vibrant colors and doesn't require the room to be dark like my other OLED TV. The TV has great preset picture settings for different types of content. The TV recognized the Soundbar as soon as it was connected to the HDMI ARC port and played the sound through it. The ATSC 3.0 TV tuner is a plus and it was easy to search and setup OTA TV channels as soon as an indoor TV antenna was hooked up.

It’s wonderful to hear that you found the picture quality impressive right out of the box and that unboxing and setup were both straightforward. We’re glad the screwless stand design and adjustable width options made it easy to fit your soundbar without compromising your screen view.

Your feedback on the build quality, ease of initial setup, and quick connection to Wi-Fi is greatly appreciated. We’re happy that the Google TV interface felt intuitive and that you noticed the flexibility in picture tuning for different content types, including HDR.

It's great that you found the preset picture settings effective and that you could enjoy a bright, vibrant image even in a well-lit room. We appreciate you noting the smooth detection of the soundbar through the HDMI ARC port and the easy setup of over-the-air channels using the ATSC 3.0 tuner with your antenna.

I wanted an Oled but after my last LG tv experience with burn in, I refused to spend all that money again and not be able to watch certain channels because of logo burn in. So I chose this Sony and it is excellent. The picture is crystal clear and it works very well in brightly lit areas.

This is a great TV. It is very clear and bright. It took some adjustments to settings to get exactly what we wanted, but the ability to have a bright background in “dark” (lots of shadows without much lighting) is amazing. You can also set speaking to be louder than background, so it’s much easier to understand dialogue.

The Bravia 7 is a wonderful option for most people who aren’t picky when it comes to picture quality. This is a beautiful TV and I am enjoying wonderful picture quality. Set up was easy to follow. Access to change personal settings very nice. There is one local channel that blips sometimes, however, I believe that is likely the station's or my antenna's fault since it does not happen with any other channel.
