I purchased the B9 before Best Buy even had stock but they brought it to my home and installed it since i didnt have a vehicle large enough to carry a 75 inch monster. When i first turned it on it was like a huge light had been flipped on. My gosh, you certainly don’t have to worry about the brightness of this television. I am coming from a LGOLED that only gave me three years of service before the panel started flaking out and showing visible lines vertically and horizontally throughout the panel. I added the B9 soundbar, the largest subwoofer and the larger rear surround speakers for full sound effects. Watching normal television the rear speakers are real quiet. I guess TV isnt the right content for spectacular sound but when watching the correct encoded content it will light up my room big time with phenomenal sound. Overall, i love this mini LED TV and sound system. The remote doesn’t seem to hold a charge well but i will continue to monitor it in case i need a replacement. I purchased extra warranty. Im telling you, i cant tell a difference between this mini led vs. OLED, its that good. I paid 3999.00 but within a week the price dropped 500.00 and due to Best Buys price guarantee i went back to the store a got my 500.00 plus tax refunded. So for 3495.00 i was tickled to death. It almost paid for my rear surround speakers. Enough said, just go purchase a Bravia 9 and you’ll be blown away like myself. Im 100% pleased and a huge thanks to the geeks.

Sony’s Bravia 9 or XR90.
My main tv which I just replaced with this model was the Sony KDS-R60XBR1 60" Grand Wega 1080p rear-projection TV from 2004 (I also have a Sony XBR9-55 inch). Back in the day that thing was a beast. It had side by side screen AND picture in picture. The sound from that TV’s speakers was also awesome. It was the brightest tv (LCD) that I had seen, and it still works to this day. I had to move on and up because Sony quit supporting the bulbs made for it years ago and 3rd party bulbs are terrible. Technology has gotten better but I couldn't beat 20 years with a television.
Let me say something I don’t see a lot of people mentioning and that is know what you need for your viewing environment. I need a bright tv because I have a bright room. If you have a dark or dim light room, then get an OLED. The debate back and forth about which kind of tv is better than another is ridiculous.
Look at all the specs and reviews to help you decide. Yes, I’m going to say the same thing that everyone else has said……This tv is bright! That’s what hits you in the face first but, it’s the rich contrast, colors, and black levels together that makes this tv exceptional. The sound from the tv speakers is the best with digital encoded media (movies, music) but you have to play around with the EQ. Standard video mode Is the best for general tv watching but I prefer professional mode for everything else and again you need to play around with the settings to get the most for what you want.
Movies, shows, and sports look great in any lighting. I remember reading a person’s review on being dissatisfied with near or direct sunlight blooming and the glare (although it has anti-glare technology) making it unwatchable. I don’t know what tv would stop that, however, I would say depending on the angle in which light does come into your room it does make a difference on viewing things that are dark (see picture) because you can see the color panels.
My PS4 looks pretty good although I don’t game a lot on this tv right now (I use the other Sony for that) it’s probably not as good visually as the PS5 but works well for my needs.
So, to wrap it up. Know what you need for your viewing room (dark room oled and a bright room mini led). If cost is a factor, then this may not be the answer and believe me I understand. Right now, this is the best option of getting oled like blacks with exceptional contrast and colors for a bright room. The quality of the packaging and materials it's made of are second to none and I didn’t expect anything less from a company like Sony. I’m lookingforward to this tv lasting at least close to what I got out of it's grandfather in the lcd that I retired.

So far, stellar TV living up to the hype. Replacing a XBR-65X900E which I still have just move to another room. At first, made the switch to LG G3 and was excited to go OLED but anything dolby vision and some HDR was just disappointedly too dark and crushing black scenes, and yes TV was calibrated. Was just about to swap it out for the Sony A95L but so glad I waiting the short wait for the Bravia 9! Muuuuch better shadow detail, overall picture brightness and yes, almost no blooming. Matter of fact you almost have to purposely look for it. Out of the box settings are pretty solid and looking forward to the calibrated settings to be release soon. Trust your gut like I did. You wont be disappointed. BTW 4000 Nits capable! Thats double any OLED with clarity remaining intact.

This TV is amazing, and is the only non-OLED screen I've ever used that even comes close to actual OLED quality. The color, brights, and contrast are phenomenal. It's very important to note that with any TV you have to get the settings right, or to your preference. I watched Avatar, Spiderverse, Puss in Boots, Coco, Elemental, Aliens, and Moana and every movie was jaw-dropping, with incredible contrast and detailed bright areas.
Make sure when watching HDR movies (most newer movies/content) to use HDR tone mapping on Brightness Preferred. This is what makes things pop in HDR and the brightness of the TV really shines. Tweak other settings to your liking.
Sound is excellent, and this is a great TV for anyone who doesn't want to use a separate sound system.
My only complaint is that for some reason the UI can be sluggish, slower than my other Bravias which is odd. Maybe needs a software update.

I purchased my Bravia 9 from Best Buy about a month ago. After about a month of usage, my lower right screen is all of a sudden darker than the rest of the screen. I tried restarting the TV which did not work. My Bravia 9 is up to date on firmware and software. I use WiFi for my tv. I had also checked the picture setting modes and brightness as well and it was not the settings. Will be returning the unit.

The Sony Bravia 9 is a game-changer (with caveats)

My new Bravia 9 75'' replaced a 12-year-old 55'' Samsung, so nearly any new TV would be a massive upgrade, but regardless of that fact, the new Bravia 9, which is Sony's new flagship model, and debatably the ultimate replacement for the master series' Z9D, is an incredible TV for a mini-LED model.
The picture quality on the Bravia 9 is a game-changer, especially in its brightness levels and color contrast. Keep in mind - this is NOT an OLED TV - but the level of blacks are so deep and dark, that I am having a hard time telling the difference. Should you get this or an OLED, like the LG's G lineup (G3/G4) or even Sony's own Bravia 8, or the A95L? I think it depends on your use case. If you're viewing TV mostly in a dark room, where the light can be controlled, then definitely go for an OLED. In my case, I have a fairly bright living room where this new TV resides, but do have the ability to control the light - however, I felt like the Bravia 9 would work best. I had a G4 77'' inch on order but canceled it as I got buyer's remorse with the much higher price tag. Is it a better TV? Probably. But in my use case, the Sony B9 is a game-changer for me.
It was easy to set up with two people - Sony boxes their TVs in a nice way that makes things simple. Set up once the TV is on is straightforward as well. HDR content in 4k is incredible! Upscaling SDR content is its one downside, as it seems to struggle and be grainy, but could be made better by tweaking picture settings, I'm sure. The B9's audio is quite something as well. Sony has somehow worked some strange, voodoo magic into the back of the TV and the sound is nearly as effective as a proper soundbar. However, I have a full-scale Sonos system with a 5.1 surround and a subwoofer, so it wasn't needed in my use case, but you won't need a lot in addition to the stock speakers within the TV itself - they can act as a sufficient middle set should you want to add additional audio output. The integrated viewing settings for colors and brightness that Sony has included for Netflix and Amazon videos are also a nice touch, and gaming on my PS5 on this TV is an awe-inspiring experience.
My only real complaint at the time of this review is that Best Buy lowered the price on the 75'' by $500 a week after I purchased my own. I am planning on contacting them to see if they will give me a rebate, post-purchase. Hopefully, they will honor it.
Get the Bravia 9 and don't listen to the negative reviews out there that are mostly LG OLED fanboys that shaking in their boots that something like a mini-LED can do what this TV can do. It is an incredible TV and I am so far very happy with my purchase.

After almost 9 years with my LG 65B6 OLED, finally found a TV worth making the upgrade for in the Bravia 9. To get it out of the way, no the Bravia 9 does not beat the PQ of an OLED. However, the blacks are deep, contrast is great, the TV is or can get extremely bright if or when needed, and you don’t have to baby the TV like you do an OLED, as mine had serious burn in after year 4 of ownership. PQ is very important to me and HDR content on an LG OLED is unmatched. What was missing with OLED is brightness. The Bravia 9 can get very bright without sacrafincing black level. The Sony processor dramatically improves SDR content by cleaning everything up from the source. Yes, the Sony tax is real with this TV, so if price sensitive, the Bravia 7 is a solid option as well, but for the best picture possible from a Mini-LED, Bravia 9 is your TV. The 75 inch is a good size and the Bravia 9 pre-set picture modes are very good out of the box; just use Professional and raise the brightness to your liking, then sit back and enjoy.

I’ve recently been bed ridden for most of the day due to Cancer diagnosis, so I decided to move my Sony OLED A95K to the den. Yes Im comparing this tv to the king of oleds. I was afraid I’d burn in my 65” oled by watching it 24 hrs a day, so I knew I’d have to replace it with a mini led for the reliability of the panel. I was scared I’d be disappointed going back to led from Oled but let me clear this all up.
This 75” mini led will go toe to toe with any Oled on Black levels and you get the brightness and reliability of Oled… I’m a picky tv guy and I have yet to notice any blooming on this tv.
And the sound OMG, by this thing! The money you’d spend on a soundbar can go straight towards this tv. The sound is that good. Just make sure you got a good stand. This 75” weighs 95 lbs, heavy dude.
Best tv I’ve bought so far and i buy the top tiers every other year. Just get it. No regrets after 2 months of ownership.

Replaced my OLED C1 for this Tv. The brightness is definitely a highlight. Picture quality is top notch, and black lvls are very good for an LCD tv, while it will never match OLED pixel level control, it still impressed me. I mainly watch movies, and play games and everything I throw at it looks great. One negative thing about it was setting up PS5, was not very plug and play, had to turn things on in setting to get it set up right, like 4kHDR 120, and VRR. By default it was set to 1080P 120 (weird)

The Sony Bravia 9 is by far the best TV I have ever owned. The tv is bright and blacks are fantastic. The new backlight system really makes this tv stand above the rest of the LED tv and gives OLED tv's competition.
Picture quality is what you expect from Sony and does not disappoint. TV supports HDR10,HLG,Dolby Vision. Android operating system is not my favorite, but works none the less.
There are 4 HDMI inputs but only #3 & 4 are 4k 120hz and 3 is the eARC so it will support next generation game consoles, but you will need to be creative if you own a soundbar and multiple consoles. I feel for the price all 4 inputs should support 4k 120hz.
The tv offers multiple stand configurations and is vesa compliant so whether you wall mount or sit it on a stand there are many options.

I have been a Sony guy from way back. I thought long and hard about what to put in this review. I am not a specs guy so anything I could say in that area would be rote repetition from articles and reviews elsewhere. So let me put it this way. I had read about the B9 for months before its release. The press was uniformly superlative: an unusual situation for any new product. I ordered it sight unseen from BB and paid full new release price (got $500 back due to BB's outstanding "Price Match" program when it went on sale). This TV is a 75" model and replaces the 75" Sony there (which has become our main viewing room - and coupled with our Sony STR-AN1000 receiver and DefTech ProCinema 800 surrounds (4), ProCinema 2000 center channel and dual SVS 3000 mini subs, it is quite an experience. I have a large HT room set up in our main den, and while the equipment is much larger and more expensive (Mirage HDT with 2 extra surrounds for Dolby Atmos, Outlaw 7900 amp, Marantz AV7706 and a few other goodies), the smaller room has become out go-to HT room. Picture out of the box was a bit hushed in tone for my taste. I do not set up my TV to match what I think others wanted my viewing experience to be. I set it up for my own preferences (likely too bright for most). But having done that, I put on my go-to demo 4k disk: Top Gun Maverick. Bright, crystal clear videos. Great off-axis viewing (but not much of that in this room). No blurring to date. Have not yet experienced the audio drop out issue that has been sporadically reported on the net. View this TV head on, and can not see any noticeable blooming. Could go on and on but will conclude with this. One of the most critical factors in getting a TV is the WAF (Wife Acceptance Factor). My wife allowed me to get this TV even though the TV we replaced was last year's 75" Sony X93L. My wife, while skeptical as to why we needed to replace such a nice TV after less than a year, is a gem and readily agreed. And after we set it up and started viewing it, she told me that she saw a noticeable difference in the overall picture quality. Home run, Sony! So take the plunge. You won;t regret it. Highly recommend this beast.

Hi Sudhan, Choosing this TV will definitely be worth it! We're so glad that you are enjoying the amazing picture, sound quality, and great performance of this great Mini LED TV. You’re now able to enjoy immersive, engaging cinematic experience in your home. This TV features X-Wide Angle and X-Anti Reflection. With X-Anti Reflection, pictures are clearer with less reflection and glare. X-Wide Angle keeps pictures looking as beautiful from the sides as they do from the center. If you really want the best viewing experience, it's a good idea to turn off all lighting sources as Sony TVs look the best in the darkest environment possible. Light from windows and lamps may cause glare on the TV screen. Using a brighter Picture Mode, like Vivid or Standard, will also help reduce reflection while watching TV or gaming. Thank you so much for purchasing our 75" BRAVIA 9 and for choosing Sony! -Jess

A truly fantastic TV. Excellent black levels and contrast for a LCD TV. Good enough that is truly competes with OLED. Which is better will be personal preference but how capable this TV is for high nit content is unmatched. I have been thoroughly enjoying watching HDR content. Off angle viewing is also really good and you can still very much enjoy the content even at an angle (if you have a large seating area).
One downside about this TV is how it handles reflections. Bright room performance is great, I am talking about light source reflection handling. If in your current TV location you have reflected lights or windows that you cannot turn off or eliminate on demand then I would caution you against this TV. Light source reflections smear across the screen and can be distracting for this reason.
Hope this helps and thanks for choosing Sony! -Sam

What a stellar TV. It's so bright... It's a light cannon. This TV's picture is so good. It has near OLED blacks, and gets bright and colorful. I returned the 75 " after one day... So I could get the 85 " instead. I e never done anything like that before. So good.
BTW - this also has the best sound of any TV I've ever heard. Stopped my mother in law in her tracks, and made her start complaining about what her soundbar sounded like. Lol

This is an amazing tv for a bright room (or a dark room). I traded from an OLED C1 as I got tired of an HD picture that was too dark no matter what setting I used, except for store demo which would most likely ruin the panel over time. Even on store demo mode the dark scenes in movies would get “black crushed” into having me guess what was happening. That being said true HDR was great in the evening, vibrant and sparkling images. So this Bravia 9 had a lot to live up to while providing greatly increased brightness. I bought this tv on specs and professional utube reviews. No one had a demo on display at the time.
Summary:
Brightness: Simply amazing. The picture is incredibly bright and beautiful in our high light great room. At night it’s simply stunning.
Color: extremely lifelike, vibrant colors (I run it on vivid). Every color is amazing on HD, 4K, and true HDR. as good as an OLED with real brightness.
Detail and sparkling: Faces are lifelike and detailed. 4K animals and plants are dramatic. The real test to me beyond color is water steam and sparkling reflective water drops. OLED renders these beautifuly. The Bravia 9 does it just as well. To me it’s one of the real tests of tv quality.
Blacks: Blacks are great in every type of picture. They may not be the perfect black of OLED but they are so close, even on vivid.
Black crush: most thankfully there is none. Dark scenes show up great detail so no guessing on the action.
Blooming: Was worried about this as I had taken a previous LED TV back a few years ago as blooming was incredibly bad. The is no discernible blooming that I can detect. I’m sure these is some, but I can’t see it at all. Nice job on controlling this.
Sports viewing: so enjoyable, virtually no pixeling, good detail.
General comment: not seeing a demo I put this TV on store demo mode to see the best possible bright picture. Regular vivid setting is very similar. This TV is so heavy. 2 Best Buy guys were challenged to get it set on a wall mount. That being said the Geek Squad guys did a great job. No way could I have managed this.
I would recommend this to a friend
