This shifter attachment is solidly built and looks and feels like a premium product. It is designed to be able to work with a large variety of wheels from different manufacturers, by using either a USB-C connection or a DIN connector. The DIN connection is intended for Thrustmaster wheels, and USB allows a direct connection to console or PC making it very versatile. It has gears 1-7 and reverse, and rowing through each gear feels good almost like the real thing, just noisier due to the plastics. I have been using it on my T-248 for PS5 playing Gran Turismo 7 and it adds a level of immersion and realism that brings the game to a new level for me. Attaching it to a desk or stand is easy with a screw type compression fitting but I can see how in certain scenarios it might slide a bit since the underside does not have any sort of rubber for gripping the surface it’s on. I have a stand for my wheel and this attached quickly and easily to my setup and was recognized immediately without having to change any game or console settings. I’m impressed with it as an entry level piece, and it suits my needs perfectly.

This TH8S Shifter Add-on is a great addition to my racing wheel. It works with my wheel on two major gaming consoles and my PC. Setup is pretty easy too. There are two different ways to set this up. One way is to connect it from the shifter to the PC. The other way is to connect it from the shifter to the wheel. I will say that I had more success connecting to my PC from the shifter than anything. Once it was installed and hooked up, the fun began. I his shifter is like driving for real. The racing games that I play are both racetrack racing games and off road racing games and events. It’s so much fun and way more realistic than just using a controller, keyboard or wheel. This combination of wheel and shifter is the best way to race in gaming. It has 7 speeds and reverse. It’s frictionless and its very responsive. It’s a sports style like knob. It all makes your gaming experience better and comfortable. This shifter hooks onto the table or desk, and is very sturdy. It didn’t come loose at all, until I took it off.

Love it. It's been a great addition to my Sim driving and racing games. Easier to grab the gear I want when racing rally cars, or in a truck Sim. Gives a better immersion to the games. Easy to setup and install. All of my games have recognized it immediately and mapped the gears out automatically.

A great value for an add on stick shifter. Easy setup and works as expected. This was more of a novelty purchase for me and not something I use often when racing, so for the price point it is more than adequate.

I've never driven stick before. Had a general idea about how it works but never really had a way to try it out. I kind of feel like I could figure it out if put behind the wheel of a real manual transmission car after playing a couple games with this shifter. Setup was easy in that just plugging it in kind of works. I went to the website and downloaded the drivers for it but I don't think much changed from when I just had it plugged in to my computer without drivers. The only thing that's going to complicate setup is going to be making sure it works right in your game of choice. I connected my shifter directly to the computer via USB so it acted just like a separate unit. I imagine if you have a thrustmaster wheel with the correct connection, setup could be even easier for some games. Euro Truck Simulator 2 had things set up just about automatically as far as the shifter went. I just had to adjust settings for my wheel and pedals (Logitech G923). But with the default control wizard, the shifter had all of it's inputs set up already. Forza Horizon 5 needed a little extra setup. But it was a simple matter of just going to the controls and selecting each gear and then moving the shifter to that gear to set that input. After that, everything worked great. I'm sure there are more challenging games to set up but any driving game that allows wheel and pedal controls should have the ability to set this shifter up (don't quote me on that). The feel is pretty nice. Maybe a little stiff? Again, I don't drive stick, but my dad did when I was a kid and I remember the shifter feeling pretty loose. This has some play in neutral but it has a spring back to the center so it also feels a little rigid. The gears felt easy enough to shift into and over time I could see myself hitting exactly what gear I'm looking for every time. I found myself jumping over gears occasionally just from not being familiar with the spacing. But overall, clamped to my desk, the shifter felt how I'd assume it should feel. I've never considered getting a shifter but since I had this nice wheel already I figured I'd give it a shot and I'm glad I did. I like it. I think I'll play most of my racing games with manual transmission in the future just for the practice and I'm a fan of a little more immersion in things like truck and farming simulators which this offers plenty of. Definitely consider this one if it fits your budget and you're looking for something that just works for the most part.

    Fun addition to racing games

Like many others, during the lockdown I took up sim racing as a way to trick myself into thinking I was getting out of the house. As part of this new hobby I picked up a Logitech racing wheel with pedals which has served me well. But let's face it - as efficient as they are, the flappy paddle gear shifters lack something compared to the more traditional stick shifter. So when the opportunity to add this to my rig came along, I was more than happy to try it out. In my experience, Thrustmaster has always been the brand to go to for unassuming but very durable flight sticks. I'd never tried any of their driving accessories before though, and when I first took the shifter out of the box I'll admit I was a little worried. When you play in VR it's very easy to get caught up in the moment - which is why it's very important that any sim hardware be built to be able to take all of the abuse the real thing might in case someone uses more force than they really should. And I'll admit that my first impression was not great. Pretty much all the visible parts save for the stalk itself are plastic, and only a single screw clamp was provided for mounting. It was also very lightweight compared to the wheel and pedals I had, making me wonder how long it could possibly stand up to abuse. But after spending a few days with it, I've realized these fears were unfounded. While the case may be plastic there's a very solid frame underneath it, and it is very satisfyingly tactile as you slam the shifter home in each gear as you move through the progression. Thrustmaster has clearly done what they always do and invested everything into making the internals as reliable as possible. What's more setup worked great with no effort at all from me. Since I wasn't pairing it with a Thrustmaster wheel I simply attached the provided USB cable to use it as a standard input device and it was immediately recognized and configured in two of the three racing games I tried it out on. The fact that you don't have to pair it with another Thrustmaster device is a huge plus IMO, and something other companies should be learning from. There are, however, a few downsides that should be mentioned. The biggest is the mounting solution. If you have a racing stand with a dedicated tray for you to permanently mount your shifter, you are going to be out of luck here. For some reason they did not include any mounting lugs, meaning you're stuck with the screw clamp and rubber friction pads to keep it in place on your stand or desk. Admittedly this does work well enough - I didn't have any issues with it sliding around once I got it clamped down, but rubber pads do eventually wear down and need to be replaced. Bolts really don't. And it's also hard to beat the cleaner look of a permanent mount. It would have been very nice to at least have the option.

    More realism for driving simulators

This is my first standalone shifter. I've used paddle shifters on my wheel, but having driven a stick shift for over 10 years, I always wanted something a bit more "natural". This shifter does add more realism to the game, but it still doesn't give me the full experience I was hoping for. For starters, without any kind of feedback that a real shifter typically provides, you end up with what feels like just another controller. With that said, the ability to quickly and easily skip gears when changing down does provide a better experience in my opinion that multiple hits on a steering wheel paddle. I initially tested this on Forza on my PC. It took me a couple of races to get the proper feel for it, but before too long I was quickly banging through the gears. Next, I fired up American Truck Simulator, as my son enjoys "borrowing" my wheel on his PC to play ATS. After setting up the shifter, I found this to be a great addition in this game as I now had the ability to more easily shift gears on trucks with many gears and with it setup for 'H' pattern shifting, it allows me to effectively skip gears with just a simple gear change instead of many clicks of the paddle shifter like I had been doing. Overall, this has added another layer of realism to my gaming and I'm excited to put it to good use!

Great Shifter for racing and driving games

Got this mainly to add to my Thrustmaster Steering wheel. It directly connects with the cable and I tested it out on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. Worked great and was useable in Forza Horizon 5 n o problem and also the newest Forza Motorsports that came out last week. I also tried it out on the PC with a generic steering wheel and was able to integrate it just fine. For PC, you use the included USB cable and its a separate input device, which you have to configure via the game you are playing. worked fine. It shifts very smooth, and is easy to use. It adds a lot of versatility and realism to driving games. In my opinion It is a must if you play driving simulators where you drive big trucks, aka Class 8 trucks, it just feels weird to drive a simulated big truck without a shifter, although I am old school, had my CDL for over 25 years and only have driven manual transmission in my big trucks. I know automatics are the present and the future, but what fun is that in a video game. Shifting feels realistic enough to scratch that itch. I would definitely recommend it, simple clamp on mounting and since it is so small, easy to position just about anywhere, even say on the armrest of your gaming chair.
