Customers are saying

Customers are pleased with the sound quality, ease of use, and the numerous HDMI inputs of the AVENTAGE RX-A2A receiver. Many also appreciate the powerful performance and relatively easy setup process. However, some users found the online manual difficult to navigate and the remote control less than ideal. The MusicCast feature and other advanced options were also highlighted as positive aspects.

Temporary A2A Is Good But Annoying

My much beloved Aventage 2000 finally began making popping noises to my speakers. Rather than invest in repairing it, I decided to take an early step in 4K processing. My TV is still 1080p (Panasonic 65ZT) so I did not upgrade cables. No manual or disk. Had quick setup paper and Yamaha Setup App for connections. I do not MusicCast. Ran YPAO. I have AT&TTV, AppleTV and OPPO Blu-Ray player connected. There is no iPod docket. Not happy. *sign* The annoying thing about the A2A is switching inputs. If I am watching AppleTV and switch to something else the A2A will switch back to previous input. This happens with ATTTV also. Would upgrading to 4K cables solve this? Also remote was confusing as hell. Had to go online to determine what buttons do what. Still sound quality is ok as I am using a 7.1 setup. I will keep the unit until Yamaha releases either the A4A or A6A which is what I really want.

Great Product - Needs Good Setup

Great receiver, I have a 5.2.2 setup and this works great for that; I will say you need to make sure to setup the receiver to get the most benefits. This can be confusing, I did find a great resource online "YPAO lost manual", which walked me through all the steps. I also found the flat DSP setting to be best for carpeted rooms, along with crossover set at 60 hertz for my front larger two bookshelfs (set as small in options). Play with these settings as well. The remote is large and mostly only used for the setup, I would recommend the MusicCast app as well, if only to adjust the settings easier without having to use the remote.

A wonderful receiver with an easy setup. It could use a backlighted control.

The unit works well for what I wanted. I use it to drive my 5 ceiling speakers through an eARC HDMI link. However, the user guide is pretty much useless. And after a month I still can’t get any reaction out of the remote’s “setup” button, to name one.

Great replacement for an old Sony AV amp

Very easy to set up with lots of available inputs. This was purchased to replace an old Sony AV amp that wouldn’t do 4K HDR etc. Only criticism of the unit is that the remote control is not backlit, which makes it difficult to use in a fully darkened home theater.

Not convenient operating very large old school remote control and not easy to setup the menus. I wish to have some basic controls on front panel.
