Simple to use! Saves Money!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this food sealer after reviewing...well lots of them. I decided on this one because of the power ratings that would allow me to run off an inverter/battery/solar when camping to reseal fresh foods to avoid spoilage. Since I have not been camping yet I have been using it to pack my lunch. I buy chicken tenders already cooked 10 - 12 at a time then seal them in the quart bags 2 at a time. My lunch at work everyday is a salad and chicken. Stays fresh all week in refrigerator. When the garden comes in this summer I plan on using it more. I think you could probably make fresh salsa flash freeze it then seal it then freeze it. Throw in the cooler and when you get where you are going it will be thawed. I will try it.

Great Deal of the Day Purchase
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I do a lot of fishing and wanted a better way to freeze my catch. After reading the instructions and using the unit repeatedly, I haven't had any problems at all.

So far, so good
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been using this device fairly regularly. Got a set of the zip-closure bags and the related hand-held unit, and have been using it to preserve fruits and veggies. Using the main unit mainly to save single-serve portions of leftovers. Pretty pleased so far with the lack of freezer-burn evident in the packages compared with things I froze pre-Food Saver. My main issue -- a small one, really -- is the amount of space the sealed bags take up, given the need to leave three inches or so of space at the top of the bag. I discovered that I can acquire zip bags and rolls of bags at a bit of a savings at Walmart. Would be nice if the bag cutter that comes as a freebie for registering the Food Saver would instead be part of the initial package. I happen to have something similar that is used to open envelopes.

Easy to use and $$ saving
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Super easy to use, inexpensive and saves me tons of money on food purchased in bulk. Literally buy at Costco and have lost tons of food by buying in bulk and it goes to waste but now I can split the packages at home and freeze them. It’s really easy to use and small enough to store anywhere. The reason for the loss of star is because you can’t really use for large quantities of meat I would say Max packaging would be for 1.5-2 lbs. the weight of anything more doesn’t let you seal correctly. Also to ensure max seal I have to double seal the seam next to each other. The larger sized machine might work better for larger quantities.

Like it a lot
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I used to freeze meat in Ziploc bags and it would be freezer burned in a couple of weeks. The FoodSaver vacuum sealer keeps everything in good condition for a lot longer. The only downside with this model is that you have to either use pre-made bags (expensive) or make the bags yourself from a roll. Cutting the pieces to the right size was tricky at first. More expensive models have a built-in bag maker. But for what I paid for this (Best Buy did a price match with Amazon) I'm very happy with it.

FoodSaver FM2000
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This FoodSaver is much the same as prior models as it works as intended. It pulls a vacuum and seals automatic with one button or stop the vacuum and seal or just seal with the seal button. It also has an accessory port if you have the resealable bags or containers. The top latches down so you do not have to hold it while it is working. It also has a removable moisture tray which makes it easy to clean. It will work with bags or rolls up to 11"wide if you make up your own custom bags. The FoodSaver's I have had always worked with any brand of material also. I have an older well used model that has vacuum problems so I use it to seal roll material to make bags and allow the new machine to cool between vacuum seals. I have sealed beef, pork, and deer and kept it frozen for a year and it looks and tastes the same as just done. If freezing fish or items with a lot of moisture the seal button will stop the vacuum process to prevent pulling all of the liquid out. It is great for fresh pre-frozen veggies you are sealing so they do not become a block of frozen matter when you want to use them. You can also reseal the unused amount and save for later. I have no complaints on this machine. It works great for me.

Freezes my garden fresh produce well.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I find that fresh meats and blanched produce are well protected from freezer burn and last much longer using the Foodsaver system. Baked goods, not so much. Even after pre-freezing my dinner rolls or cookies, they are still flattened in the vacuum process. If I stop they vacuum and go to seal, air enters the bag before the seal is completed. I have yet to try thew cannisters that I hope will solve that issue and make me a happy camper!

Q: QuestionHow do you cut the bag so your sealed package can be removed from the machine from where it is clamped and sealed shut?
Asked by Dave.
- A:Answer I have listed below some steps to make custom bags and vacuum-seal your foods: 1 - Seal the open side of the roll. 2 - decide the length of the bag and cut with scissors. 3 - put your items/food inside (leaving at least 3 inches of empty space on the open side of the bag). 4 - Accommodate your bag into the drip tray, close the lid and press the vac-seal button. We hope this helps!

Q: QuestionI received a FM200 for XMAS and tried to use it today. It takes almost 2 minutes just to vacuum the item, then does not seal it! The red seal light blinks after the vac/seal stops, so then I have to hit the seal to get the package sealed. doesn't seal
Asked by edjrrich22.
- A:Answer Make sure the seal area in the bag does not have food in it and is dry. Also make sure the end of the bag is far enough inside the unit to be in the fluid tray and the lid is fully closed. Those are the only reasons for the unit to time out before auto sealing or failing to seal due to failure to create a vacuum seal.

Q: QuestionAre the bags easily pulled off the roll of bags (i.e., perforated separation lines like the plastic bags in grocery store produce sections? or separate bags that just fall off the roll?) or do you have to cut them off with a scissors?
Asked by Dave.
- A:Answer No they are not perforated on the rolls, that way you can make them as large or as small as you want. They are not like saran wrap but a thicker plastic that you don't have to peel off the roll. Some of the more expensive models have the built in holder for rolls and a cutter . Would have been nice but more expensive. Just cut them with the scissors or a razor. Would be nice if someone would come up with a holder and cutter as an accessory.
