If you have Apple CarPlay or Android Auto built in to work with usb, and have a usb port, it should work. If you already have wireless Apple CarPlay or Android Auto built into the vehicle, then that should be used and this would be unnecessary.

Some vehicles only get the app from the phone and do not have the software built into the vehicle. The CarPlay or Android Auto icon must show even when your phone is not directly connected to the vehicle via USB cable. There are some exceptions with certain models where the icon will show but the phone still needs to be directly connected for the vehicle to use the software off the phone.
