No it doesn't. The white frame isn't shiny at all. I haven't found it difficult to read versus the black version at all.

To me it actually feels like reading on a paper rather than on a device like in a black frame

Wife has the white I have black. Haven't read the white in direct sunlight so don't know about glaring but I don't think you would have a problem with glaring since it's matte finished. As for night you can turn down the brightness. It's awesome at night.

You can adjust the light on the screen. It's really good in any light.
