No this is only a carpet cleaner. It does not vacuum.too..
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This carpet cleaner still needs to work along side your vacuum cleaner. Vacuuming before use in carpet is recommend by the manufacturer. I wouldn't get rid of your vacuum cleaner.

Then you can use the carpet cleaner. I do notice that it will pick up dog hair that my vacuum missed and I just make sure to clean it when I’m down and use the hair removal tool that’s included to get any hair out of the little crevices.

The rule of thumb is always vacuum first with a regular upright vacuum. Yes, you can skip that step, but expect more problems with the machine or the cleaning. It is designed to pull grit and dust from deep down and remove surface staining, not to pick up surface dust, paper, mud, etc. The primary machine you should use to maintain a carpeted room is a basic upright vacuum that works well. If you don't vacuum regularly, expect a lot of traffic staining, and it won't necessarily come out well with an extractor, no matter how good the machine or operator. I vacuum my home carpets 5 times a week, but it only takes about 8 minutes per day. This keeps dust and grit from being pushed down in, which not only stains over time, but shortens the life of the carpet. This frequent vacuuming also lowers the dust levels in your house, meaning less use of dust cloths and less dirt in the furnace filters, and less dust up in hard-to-reach areas.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The instructions say to vacuum prior to using. I wouldn't say that this works like a vacuum. I've only used mine once, but it did a great job on carpet cleaning!
