A:AnswerSo, you replace the regular lightbulb with this one, with your lamp plugged into a regular AC outlet. You can control the lightbulbs once it’s set up in the c by GE app, Alexa, or Google home. I tried to set it up into the GE app, but my Google home kept taking it away. Go figure. Anyway no additional hardware is required. You control the colors and the on off switch from whichever app you choose.I put some pictures up with the colors of magenta and indigo blue today on the Best Buy store front on yelp.
A:AnswerI purchased these bulbs. You can screw them in as a regular lightbulb. It’ll just be a regular white lightbulb. If you pair with the Alexa or Google home or GE app then you can get all of the colors and the ability to turn it on and off. I put some pictures up on the Best Buy store front on Yelp today, you should really see them magenta indigo blue it’s really fun
A:AnswerThanks for the reaching out to us! While you can use them that way, we do not recommend them to be in an enclosed fixture due to the way LED lights dissipate their heat. Feel free to reach out to us at 1-844-302-2943 if you have additional questions. -Cync Support Team

A:AnswerNo. But... I was really hung up on this myself when I started my project. I wanted all 100 watt or I didn't want to 'play.' I put the project off for months waiting for 100 watt bulbs to come along. I finally resigned myself that it wasn't going to happen anytime soon and bought one package to play with for a trial run. By the end of the same day, I had bought an additional 3 boxes (of 4) and by the end of the week, my whole home was changed out to 60 watt bulbs everywhere. I have never looked back, nor have I missed having 100 watts most everywhere, which is something I wouldn't have believed when I started. My concerns were totally unfounded.
Why? I think it's the true colors. Remember that you can make a bulb 'daylight' or 'soft white' or even 'blue' on command, as well as being able to control hue and brightness.
If they ever do make 100 watt bulbs, I may buy a box for some really specialized applications, but then again; I may not. I really don't need them. Again, you have to learn to re-think everything when you jump into this and that was the hardest lesson for me to learn.

A:AnswerIt's mentioned in the C by GE app FAQ on their site that you can schedule it. I personally would end up doing any scheduling and grouping through my Alexa devices, though, so I can't speak to how well the GE app works for that.
A:AnswerI only saw reference to using a smartphone (or tablet, though they don't say it's compatible.) Even using something like Alexa or their wire-free remotes seems to require the app for initial setup. There's no computer based app at this time.
A:AnswerHi Ken, yes, our C by GE bulbs do work with Alexa with the requirements of a C by GE smart hub. A:AnswerTry resetting the bulbs and updating firmware if you have not already. Turn lights on , turn off a total 5 x. Then they will blink to reset.
Once up and running, go to settings in the app and do a firmware update.
You should also do a firmware update once or twice a week, ( no reset on bulbs, only firmware update).
