If you are limited to space the stand is not really bulky. The hight should fit any standard speakers you have. I would also suggest getting a monitor arm to allow you more space on your desk for other stuff

Yes, it adjusts from 1" between the bottom of the monitor and the desktop to 5" between the bottom of the monitor to the desk surface. You'd have a max of 5" for your speakers to fit.
