Hi! I have both. The large round dryer is just a dryer with different nozzles (concentrator, diffuser or smoothing), but the new Dyson Airwrap has as much power, and also a drying attachment that looks like an elongated version of the original hairdryer. The best part of the new Airwrap is that it’s only missing the nozzles, but adds a whole new sets of attachments that make our hairstyling a super easy job. I basically used the original Dyson dryer just as a powerful dryer along with a round brush to straighten my hair. The new Airwrap has the round brush attached to the dryer, so not only it’s faster, but easier to work with. The Airwrap attachments are so easy and fun to use, I was really surprised! In short, unless you know how to style your hair as good or almost as good as a professional, I would definitely go for the newer version, the Airwrap. I’m clumsy when it comes to styling my hair and I have found the new Airwrap is perfect for me. Yes, true the Dyson dryer is amazing (the original round one), but I was always having trouble actually styling, so I ended up purchasing the Revlon One-Step hairdryer and loved how it left my hair, but I found it was too hot for me. The Dyson Airwrap is, for me, the perfect combination of both. A very powerful yet gentle to my hair and scalp device, with the attachments that give my hair the volume and shape I want (be that either straight, volume curves or tighter curves. I have natural curl hair that tends to frizz easily.
