I have had the same problem with printers which use ink cartridges. I have not had that problem with the EPSON ET-2650 ECOTANK PRINTER. Since it does NOT use ink cartridges but has ink wells which contain LIQUID INK you should have no problem with this printer being idle for long periods of time. Just make sure that you keep the ink well lids on tight, check the ink levels regularly and cover the printer so that dust, dirt, etc. doesn't get inside.
