The Garmin eLog™ ELD device needs to be connected to a Bluetooth®-enabled smartphone or tablet, sold separately. A cellular data plan is not required to use the Garmin eLog Compliant ELD. You would need to have a smartphone or tablet with built in GPS or Location Services technology. If you are using a smartphone or tablet without cellular data you would need to periodically connect the smartphone or tablet to Wi-Fi to download the latest app and firmware updates.
