Maybe GE will answer my question. Like you, my door is failing to open when the button is pushed. Had I seen your question and GE’s answer before I bought mine, I definitely would not have bought this model. Mine is only 1 year 3 months old. The door button started giving trouble prior to the end of the one year warranty. I didn’t raise questions due to the fact that I assumed i hadn’t pressed the button the right way. Now I am stuck with a practically new appliance that won’t work, needs to be repaired or trashed. Bad for the environment. Bad for me.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Had older model and spring lasted 7 yrs and part can’t be reordered thus a new microwave but positives are smaller footprint more features and better spring on door (just stopped carrying spring for replacement so a s is 5+ yrs
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hi there, GE Appliances is committed to making quality appliances. Our microwaves, as well as our other appliances, are made to be used for many years. We hope that you enjoy using your microwave for many years to come. We would not recommend being overly rough when using the button to release the door, or being rough when closing the door itself. We hope that this helped! Thank you very much for your question. -Michael
