It hooks up to the spigot at the kitchen sink. There is a hose with an attachment that is self stored in the upper back side of the machine, along with a plug to plug into a wall outlet for power. If needed, the dishwasher comes with an adapter to put on the end of the spigot so that the hose can attach securely when in use. The water drains into the sink from the same attachment. For this machine, a regular cycle is about 1 hour.

The large hose carries water from the dishwasher to the sink. Check out the Installation instructions at the following link: https://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=31-31571.pdf - Also, the Normal Wash cycle is approximately 106 (minimum). Check out page 10 of the Owner's Manual- Cycle Chart: https://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=49-55115.pdf - Keep in touch! Sue
