A:Answer I spent 15 years doing A/C work. Air conditioning works by removing water from the air. The higher the humidity the more water it removes, that water is vented to the outside if the unit is installed right. Most window A/C units sit slightly at an angled so the water runs down and outside. As far as the noise, just remember this is not an all bells and whistles A/C unit. The more money you spend on a unit, the more insulation, and other useful options will show you where your money went. I'm 68 years old and I've never heard a silent window unit. For help on making a choice, I usually go to Consumer Reports and read their reviews.
