Hi Hopper - Top-loading and front-loading GE Appliance washers with the HE label are defined as washers that use low-water levels in wash and rinse cycles. Some GE Appliance washer models have the "HE" label on the control panel and other models do not (GTW465ASNWW has "HE" on the control panel). However, GE Appliances recommends HE (High Efficiency) detergent be used in all of our washers (past and present models) for optimum wash performance. HE detergent works best with the lower water levels used in all modern washing machines and cleans just as well as standard detergents regardless of the machine type or age. This model offers DEEP FILL- Enjoy total control and customization of your water levels with the touch of a button that lets you add just a little extra water or fill the tub. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Best Buy's description didn't seem to say it was, but the washer has HE on it. It is much faster though, than the ones that are designated clearly as HE.
