Do the sides of the toaster get hot to the touch when in use?? null

Not that we noticed, but we only make 4 slices at breakfast and don't go for dark/burnt toast. 
I expect if you like your toast dark and are making a lot of it, it may get a bit warm, fortunately, stainless tends to shed heat fairly quickly anyway.

I've used it for a few days now and have not noticed the outside sides of the toaster getting hot when in use.

I personally own this product and it does get not when in use. Please ensure that the product placed in such a way which allows good ventilation and is out of the reach of small children. Personally I love this toaster.

I noticed an ever-so-slight difference in temperature between the side of the toaster versus the front and back. However, I would not call it hot at all. In fact, it was relatively cool.

Hello Robyn - Thank you for reaching out about our brand new toaster. When deciding where to place your new toaster, it should not be directly next to items such as curtains or draperies. Other than the internal elements of course, potentially hot surfaces include, the top, the back, and the crevices around the toaster opening. Keep in touch! - John@GEA
