Can the racks stay in the oven during self cleaning? What metal are the racks made out of? null

According to the manual that came with the stove, you should remove them during cleaning. In all the stoves I've ever owned, I've taken the racks out.

Hi Cathie- The oven racks are made of heavy-gauge steel, electronically welded and nickel-plated for long life and corrosion resistance. To protect the finish, the racks should be cleaned by hand. They should not be left in the oven during a self-clean cycle or they will tarnish.
