QuestionI wanting to replace my spectrum dvr box so I don't have to pay the monthly rental. Spectrum will give me a card to make box compatible. Will this box work?

- Answer No, this is an over the air tuner box. It will not accept a cable card and will not tune cable TV.

- Answer Yes, there is a HDHomeRun app for Fire TV, you just need to have a TV antenna to go with the tuner, and connect the tuner to your Router with an Ethernet Cable. The HDHomeRun app should automatically find it if its configured properly.

- Answer Depends on where you live and location of your antenna. This is a good website to check what stations are in your area and their strength. HD Homerun picked up all but the weakest 2 stations that this site said was in our area. https://antennaweb.org

QuestionCan this be used to record other programming accesible from an Amazon Fire?

- Answer The CONNECT DUO can only provide a stream that can be recording using other software or hardware. For example, the HDHomeRun DVR service can record from a CONNECT DUO. The HDHomeRun SCRIBE DUO or SERVIO can also record from a CONNECT DUO. And finally other services can record, including Plex, Emby, the Channels app, and more. The streams that the CONNECT DUO can provide to be recorded are ONLY Over the Air streams from an antenna. You cannot grab streams from, for example, Amazon Prime or PS Vue using a CONNECT DUO.

- Answer The hd homerun 2 only has an ethernet port. if your wi-fi pack has ethernet that you can plug the hd homerun into, then it would work. also, you could use a wireless to ethernet bridge, but there are other tv tuners out that run of wifi, which would be a better choice in this case.

- Answer If you purchase the HDHomerun Prime model it will allow you to record both OTA and Cable channels. The catch is, you will still have to pay for your cable service and in addition there is a subscription fee to use HDHomerun dvr service. By the way, I think the Prime model is not available through Best Buy.

Questioni understand the duo has only two tuners, but can you watch tv on more than two devices if they are tuned to the same channel? i have a hdhomerun prime with three tuners and i believe i can watch on more than 3 tevices if a few are on the same chanel

- Answer Question answered in HDHomerun FAQs, “HDHomeRun CONNECT DUO (generation 5) (HDHR5-2US) is designed to receive over the air ATSC broadcasts in the US. It has 2 tuners, allowing you to access 2 channels at once and has a smaller more sleek form factor than the gen 4 equivalent. There are other models (HDHR5-2US(CA)) that works in Cananda with ATSC, (HDHR5-2DT(UK)) that works in the UK but receives DVB-T2 broadcasts. QuestionSo this box is for streaming what’s on your tv to other devices, even though it seem like it’s being billed as a unseen station amp to receive cable stations without cable, it won’t get you a station that you don’t already get with a great antenna right?

- Answer Right. If you want cable, the HDHomerun Prime model will give you that with a Cable Card. The advantage of the other OTA models is that they allow you to stream the programs you receive from a single antenna located in the best reception room in the house to all of your devices on which you have downloaded the HDHomerun App, no matter where they are located in the house, assuming all those rooms can receive a WiFi signal. There are limits. The Connect Duo only permits viewing on two devices simultaneously and the Connect Quatro allows four. Both allow limited dvr recording stored to a connected external hard drive or a flash drive of at least 128gb. The same is true for the newer models: Sribe Duo and Scribe Quatro. The difference is the two newer models both have built in dvi and storage of up to 150 hours. The dvr requires a subscription, but it is not much.

- Answer You may be misunderstanding how the HDHomeRun works. You plug it into your antenna, and you can store it and your antenna wherever you want. Then the HDHomeRun streams Over the Air TV to all the devices in your home, like your iPad or iPhone or if you had a Fire TV or Android set top box. All you have to do is install the HDHomeRun app.

- Answer I don't understand electronics & frequencies well but for what it's worth; a number of my low powered OTA "fringe" stations (i.e. special interest, religious, music, SD/HD duplicates & home shopping channels) show on the device, but I still get more of those on the rooftop antenna direct to tv connection, when I bypass the HD duo device.

- Answer Hello, My brother had his HDHomeRun working perfectly with WMC with live TV and his other stored content. It's been a few years or longer since he used that, so I don't know with the version you are talking about.

- Answer Lights? My box doesn't have any lights, it's possible yours has a defective Ethernet port, I would take it to Bestbuy and exchange for another one.

- Answer No. It’s just for OTA over the air channels that your antenna sends to your HDHomerun box, that in turn it sends to your streaming tv device or Smart TV. That being said, HDHomerun does have a pay for dvr service you can subscribe to that will let you record your OTA channels only. You can also use pay for dvr service apps such as Plex, Emby, and Google Channels to record OTA channels only. Plus, HHHomerun has just come out with hardware dvr boxes containing terabytes of storage - DVR Engine, Scribe and Servio. You can check those out on the HDHomerun site or check with Best Buybfor availability.

- Answer As I understand it, QAM is the coded signal sent thru cables by the cable company. This is an over the air TV device that allows you, with an antennae, to pick up TV broadcasts in your local area and view on two separate TVs at the same time.

- Answer This does not work with Tivo. This works with its own HDHomeRun app as well as several other popular apps like Plex and Emby to display TV on your phone, tablet, or set top box. With that said, you can record 2 shows at once with the two tuners.
