A:Answer Hi Dirt Phob, sounds like there may be a minor clog or dirty filter you're not aware of. If there is a clog or dirty filter that will block the air path leaving no breathing room for the motor, which causes the motor to work twice as hard to do it's job. Here are a few steps that will help. First, remove both ends of the hoses off vacuum. Run a broom handle through hose to knock out any possible clog. Replace the hose on cleaner. Remove the dirt cup. Lift the gray latch on the dirt cup lid that has the hoover emblem on it. You will see a foam filter. Rinse the filter under warm running water until clean. Sit filter on it's side and let air dry for 24 hours. Test the cleaner after all the maintenance is done, it should work as new.
