  • QuestionWill this washer accommodate a King size comforter?

    Asked by Claud.

    • Answer no way...I washed a twin and I put it thru 2 wash cycles to throughly clean it, but I had to adjust to deep rinse mode for fabric softener to get it to clean. the tub only fills up halfway. this is not a non he machine as they have it advertised. this is very much a he machine with no way of adding any additional water for larger loads.

  • QuestionHi, does this machine offer a feature to soak clothes overnight?

    Asked by Kai.

    • Answer This washer was advertised as a non he washer. It is not...it has a automatic soak during the wash cycle. I would not recommend this washer . There is no way to add more water to the wash cycle and the tub only fills a third of the way up so you have to do small loads. It had a hard time washing a twin comforter. I have had it now a month and truly regret buying it. It is loud enough to be heard from the basement to the second floor. It does spin really well, but that's about it.

  • QuestionDoes this washer have an express wash? It takes a long time for a load of wash .

    Asked by Jerseygirl.

    • Answer This washer does not have an express wash. While it will wash at a normal pace, the final spin cycle is fairly long, lasting nearly ten minutes. This long final spin cycle will get clothes really dry, reducing dryer time for clothes that are dryer safe. For anyone needing to wash clothes quickly, one would likely have to look at a GE model with express cycle in order to get clothes washed in under 25-30 minutes. Most of my loads take between 33-39 minutes to complete using this particular Hotpoint washer.

  • QuestionIs there a place to empty any hair or lint that is caught during the wash cycle

    Asked by Dennis.

    • Answer Hello Dennis - Thank you for your question; we are glad to assist! The Fine Mesh Filters were removed from under the agitator of our new washers when it was found that a better pump and larger holes in the hub under the agitator did a better job of removing lint and preventing clogs in the drain system. The drain system allows water to flow through the basket and out the bottom of the tub pulling lint, hair, and small particles with the water. There is no maintenance required on this system, so there is not a way to access the pump for cleaning or maintenance. We hope this information is helpful. Thanks for checking. Olga

  • QuestionWhere is this washer built?

    Asked by Ty.

    • Answer My owners manual and Hotpoint washer say it is made in the USA. It is made in Louisville, Kentucky at the GE appliance factory. Hotpoint is actually a GE product, and is made at the same plant as some of the GE washers.

  • QuestionI have a couple of questions. How can I presoak my clothes? Which is the fastest cycle?

    Asked by Patience.

    • Answer Hey there, Thanks for your question. This washer doesn't have a soak setting where you can set how long your clothes soak. The best way to achieve this is once the washer fills, then pause the washer. Please note that the washer will drain after 15 minutes with the lid open or 24 hours with the lid closed. The fastest cycle on this washer is the delicates cycle. Let us know if you have any other questions. Stay well. Mike@GEA

  • QuestionHow can I add fabric softener if I can’t unlock the lid during operation?

    Asked by Tiredout.

    • Answer Hi there, and thanks for reaching out to us. We hate to hear you've had any issue with not being able to add fabric softener because of the lid locking and know that must have caused concern. Newer top-load washers do feature a lid lock that is engaged either when the washer is load-sensing (if that is a feature of the model), or when the basket is spinning above 50 RPM. If you need to add an item, detergent or softener when the cycle has already started, you can do so by pausing the cycle. You do need to wait until the basket has completely slowed to a stop before the lid can be opened, for safety reasons. Depending on the speed it was spinning at and the size of the load, it can take up to 3 minutes to slow enough for the lid to unlock. If you have issues with unlocking the lid past that 3 minute mark, unplugging the washer for a minute to allow the electrical components to reset can be helpful. We hope this information is helpful, and are happy to help with any other questions or concerns. Best wishes! -Sarah@GEA

  • QuestionI need to know how to set the right wash cycle in order to get the load wash

    Asked by Non.

    • Answer Hi there - For convenience, best performance and optimal efficiency, select Precise Fill/Auto. This selection automatically provides the correct amount of water suited to the size and type of load placed in the unit. Lid will be locked for the duration of the load sensing process, which includes a brief spin period and a portion of the water fill. We hope this helps! Asked by Anonymous.

    • Answer Hi there, and thanks for taking the time to reach out to us - we know how important the voltage is when choosing an appliance. The norm for our washers is to use a standard 120 volt outlet; we regret any inconvenience that may cause. The model you asked this question on, HTW240ASKWS, also uses 120V. If you wish to check another model specifically, you can certainly do so by going to our Hotpoint website and looking up the model number; the ‘Product Details’ link will clarify the voltage used by the model. • QuestionOn the Wash Cycle Selector Knob, please explain the use of "heavy,""medium," and "light" under the categories "Whites" and "Colors". Do these refer to load sizes, even though the load size is presumably set on the "Load Size" knob?

    Asked by NewUser.

    • Answer Hello, thank you for taking the time to write this question regarding this great washer. We would be happy to help! The "Heavy", "Medium", and "Light" settings under the Wash Cycle Selector Knob on this washer are referring to soil level of laundry to be washed. So, for example, if you had a medium-sized load of colored clothes that were heavily soiled, you would set the "Load Size" knob to "Medium" and the Wash Cycle Selector Knob to "Colors - Heavy". If you would like to read more about the features and functionality of this washer, we recommend you check out the owner's manual found on our website. We hope this helps! -Chris@GEA

    Asked by depth.

    • Answer Hello, Thanks for asking! We always enjoy helping interested customers and we'd love to provide you with an answer. We found that this washer has a depth of 27". The clearance needed for the rear of this model is 3". This means you would need at least 30" for this to fit appropriately in front of a wall. Have a wonderful day! -Sylvia@GEA
