You do not have to remove the normal paper. The photopaper, unless it is full size (8.5x11.0), is in a different tray. The printer automatically knows which try to draw from given the size of the paper.

Photo tray (4" by 6" or main tray 8"by 11") When using the main tray I like to remove the plain paper and place only photo paper. You can put the 8 by 11 inch on top of the plain too. There are options to choose which paper you are using to print to then select print. I hope this helps because there can be more to it depending on your printer.
