Yes, you can use generic ink cartridges with this and pretty much all ink jet printers. By law, using generic will NOT void the warranty. BUT, not all generic cartridges are good quality. If the ink is not formulated to work with the printer, it can cause problems with the ink flowing through the print head and ink jets. If you want to use generic, be sure to give due diligence to researching the generic you're considering using.
