I have AT&T U-Verse service and I just purchased this tv. Are there supposed to be black areas around the picture. It's like the picture doesn't fill out the screen top to bottom, side-to-side. Isn't it supposed to? null

Some programs have those black areas, you could try this: Long press the Home button and select Display to adjust the Picture Size / Aspect Ratio.

You are not watching HD channels which is why it doesn't fill the screen. If you switch the same channel but HD the entire screen will be filled. I have uverse too.
