No. You will need to get him a Bluetooth transmitter/receiver along with a boombox - regardless of which model boombox you decide on. The Bluetooth technology on this model is for connecting an android or iOS phone, tablet or any other Bluetooth device to stream a music playlist or audio book from that, using the boombox as speakers. Units without Bluetooth have an alternative USB port to connect those devices and then play from those devices. Having Bluetooth built-in to the boombox just allows you to control your playlist on your android, iOS or music player from across the room, keeping it in your hand. Adding a Bluetooth transmitter/receiver and plug it into the headphone jack on the boombox will allow you to use wireless headphones for listening to CD,'s, the radio, cassettes, or a playlist that is wierelesly connected to the boombox via the Bluetooth technology built into the boombox. With a Bluetooth transmitter/receiver you can turn ANY device with a 3.5 headphone jack into Bluetooth heaven including TV's! The transmitter is rechargeable via USB so on this boombox model you will need to either keep it charged by plugging into a wall socket along with the boombox or make sure you have it charged up if you take it on-the-go. A fully charged transmitter can last a long time, just check the specs if that is something you will need to know.
