Try Plugging it up to a different outlet, the one you have it plugged into might not work fully which resulted in it flashing and then turning off.

All non-removable batteries have a memory which is very strange for something that just sits for years and years and years. But it does have memory, but it also could be your copper connections when they controller lands on the charging port
