Where does the water filter go and is it necessary to use it? I have the parts but the booklet does not talk about this. null

The white cloth filter pod fits into a plastic holder that was included with your Keurig box. You then snap the holder to the circular intake on the inside of the water reservoir. I would use it because it will help keep the inside of your coffee maker cleaner. Just make sure you change it per the directions!

Hi,
If you're not using filtered or bottled water than you should use the filter. In the instructions is shows how to put the filter into the filter spout and attach it to the water reservoir. 
You can press the two sides that say "press" on the dilter attachment and place the ocular bottom down on the vase of the filter attachment, then pop it back on until you hear a click, then just attached the base in the bottom of the water reservoir and voila!

The filter pack is inserted in the tower-style holder, which is then inserted in the water tank itself. Snaps in right on top of the water inlet. It's highly recommended for taste, and to keep mineral and other deposits from forming in the water lines and machine internals, but can be removed if you choose.
